I got another notice about a week later, and once again called, this time hearing a completely different story. Although billing eventually answered, I had to wait at least 15 minutes or more each time. Although Tellica is cheaper than a hospital, I've decided the aggrevation is not worth it.

First, it took them a week to call to set up the appointment, whereas I was told they'd be in touch within 24-48 hours. I was living on opioids in the meantime. When they finally called, I was working so they left a message. When I returned the call, I was on hold for about 15 minutes before being forced to leave a message. They took 3 days to call back. When they did, the line was barely audible. The representative didn't tell me that there were other imaging options closer to me (which I later found out they were supposd to), so I had to drive for an hour and a half to get to their closest location. Not a pleasant trip with a herniated L1 disk. When I got to the clinic, they had instead mistakenly scheduled me for two days later. Three hours' drive and $15 gas for nothing. Talking with another patient in the parking lot afterwards, they reported similar issues: slow response, clerical mistakes made, lots of excuses, but little interest in making things right. To their credit, the manager of that particular clinic gave me a call within an hour, but it was largely to make excuses as to why it was not their fault, and saying the problems I experienced were under another manager's purview. I asked if that person could give me a call. About an hour later, right at the end of their business day, I got a call from an unknown number that rang once and hung up before I could answer. Five minutes later, a voicemail appeared with a long, but vague and half-decipherable message, again with excuses, but no real attempt at resolution. Personally, I would rather pay $250 extra bucks out of pocket than entrust my health to a company that runs the administrative side of their business is such a slipshod manner.

I believe that the situation is due not to a lack of desire, but a lack of office staff execution and double-checking. The office processes should be improved so that these requests are not only acknowledged, but followed through on.

Our double rainbow, miracle baby was our only normal embryo, so I'm sure you can imagine how overwhelming and nerve wracking this pregnancy was for us. We found this place and came in for an ultrasound between our scheduled ultrasounds with my OB. This gave us such a solid peace of mind and helped us to sleep better at night knowing all was well with him. We also took advantage of their couples massage while we were on our staycation/baby moon and it was FANTASTIC. The women we had working on us really took the time to learn what we wanted. There was a point in time where I started to feel a little faint and my lady (I wish I could remember her name) was so patient and accommodating. She had me sit up, gave me water and we decided to pivot and have me turn on my back so I could breathe the fresh air. They do massages for anyone, you don't have to be pregnant! I will definitely be back for one post-partum. Lastly, we had a 3D ultrasound done when I was around 32ish weeks. The tech was so sweet and took her time to get all the great shots. She even had me re-position and drink cold water etc to see if we could get different views. The photos turned out perfect and as you can see in the picture I'm sharing in my review, there is definitely a resemblance! Our family member is a 19-year-old high performing athlete who has had daily headaches and post-concussion symptoms since October. After five months of neurologists finding nothing on standard MRI, we flew to CognitiveFX for the EPIC treatment week. The fNCI scan was genuinely illuminating -- the most objective picture of what was wrong that we'd had in five months. The treatment protocols were sophisticated and specifically mapped to her scan results. Her before and after scores moved dramatically. We believe something real happened this week. But here's what didn't happen. On day one I asked explicitly: by Friday we need an honest clinical assessment of when and if she can return to sports. That was the single most important ask. Friday's end-of-week review was conducted by a nurse and a trainer. No physician was available at any point during the entire treatment week. The doctor whose name is on her scans we have still never spoken to. In fact, we were told three of the four doctors listed at the clinic do not come in, and one wasn't coming in the entire week we were there. No doctors -- at all. We had to push hard just to get a Tuesday Zoom scheduled with the physician of record-- after the week was over and we were already on a plane home. There's more. CognitiveFX ordered a cervical spine MRI on day two of treatment. The radiologist found degenerative disc disease out of proportion with vertebral wedging from chronic axial loading. Nobody mentioned this to us during the week. We found out from a chiropractor we saw on the way to the airport Friday afternoon. CognitiveFX had that report for three days and said nothing. We also requested CognitiveFX's own return-to-sport specialist, who had committed to being part of the end-of-week process in a pre-treatment meeting be included in Friday's review. He wasn't there either. No one was but a thoughtful nurse. For what this week costs, the clinical consultation piece should not require a parent to fight for it after the fact. The diagnostic tool is real. The treatment protocols are real. The therapists and trainers were professional and clearly skilled. But a medically supervised program needs physicians who are actually present and accountable. That part was not delivered. I'll update this review based on how Tuesday's follow-up call goes.

I feel like I've been able to get my old life back before my first concussion. The brain fog is…read moregone! I feel like someone put a new brain in my head. The exhausting week and money was worth it for this amazing feeling. The one week, all day of hard work to help all areas of my brain function was incredible. Lunch was provided every day. The time to rest in between sessions was nice. It was so amazing to see I could do memory exercises at the end of the week that I was not able to do at the beginning of the week. When you get done you still have to continue with the exercises at home. Cognitive FX does provide you with a big binder of exercises. The MRI that was done before the week and at the end of the week were compared and there was a significant difference. Everyone who works here is so kind, patient, and understanding. It was so nice to meet other people who have been experiencing the same symptoms I have for so long. Not everyone understands how you feel but people at Cognitive FX do. This was a life changing experience.

Overwhelmed and impressed with how detail oriented and methodical Dr Hurst is. He doesn't miss a beat on anything. Other doctors don't spend enough time to find the root cause for ailments and just want large numbers of patients. Dr Hurst is the opposite, he doesn't rush and is very prompt and direct when he spends time with you. So glad I found him and highly recommend others to him, I never knew what a 'Physiatrist' was until I looked it up is a medical doctor who has completed training in the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R).

He didn't answer any of my questions or even acknowledge my comments about previous injuries to my lower back. He asked me if I had drop foot, I said no, and spent 3 minutes testing me for drop foot and then said "you don't have drop foot." Thats really where his examination ended. He didn't recommend any back stretches or ways to strengthen my back. He left for a few minutes to find his "Back model" well, not having a back model in every exam room would be like not having a cash register at every checkout line at Walmart isn't it? I could understand if I went to an ENT and they didn't have a model of the spine in the exam room. I made the decision to have an MRI and xray. Some offices you can fill out the paperwork on line in advance. Not here. It took me 20 minutes to rewrite my name and DOB 4 different times on similar looking forms that the PA didn't even look at when he met with me. Office staff "faxed" seriously, "faxed" (I haven't used a fax in my office for 6 years) my "form" to the imaging center, after a week I didn't hear so i called and they "Re" faxed it. Called the imaging center and said they never got it last week. So another week goes by in pain. Maybe 4 staff members behind that little desk is too many. Ugh, I don't want to go back there to see the results. Any idea who I can go to?
