This has got to be the slowest bank in Austin Texas.. It literally takes you 25 minutes justbto do a transaction. Therebwas only 2 cars in the drive through.. This my second time using this location I usually use the location in Pflugerville in the Stonehill shopping center. This location is closer to my home ...Damn... I will be refinancing my car with someone else.This doesn't make any sense. read more

terrible credit union. At first I enjoyed them to a degree. but 6 months after joining O was bombarded almost daily with mail from them shoving all manner of insurance down my throat making me feel like I HAD to sign it. it almost read like legally I was obligated to. the. I wanted to open a line of credit. Now mind you I had just opened 3000 dollar line of credit. I wanted a a small amount for shopping or car maintenance. So I opened a savor one car (really good card by the way) and I began using that. I could have gotten as much as 10k. when I wanted to establish credit with them they denied me and said they pulled a credit report with a scored missing over 95 points from what mine was showing on my credit reports. I was shocked. I dont know where they get theirs. But when I tried to talk to them they shut me down cold. didnt asks for anything else didnt offer an explanation just shut me down and ended the conversation. suffice to say Im taking my business elsewhere. I dont like being treated that way. I found it cold rude and impersonal and will never do business with them. read more

I switched to RBFCU about 7 years ago from Wells Fargo. I feel like an actual person when I'm in the branch, unlike "just another account" when I'm in a big bank. I had some initial trouble getting direct deposits set up from my parents investment account at an outside wealth management firm, which caused me to bounce my rent payment once. We were drawn to the CU because of a great CD rate so we cashed out our CDs and savings from our Credit Union and headed over to RBFCU. Turned out to be a disappointment and we left with not enough trust to leave our money with them. Pro: Good location, close to use, close to Domain area, best CD rates we could find in Austin, hands down. Cons (narrative): The lady we spoke to didn't seem to know some basic information about some things we asked like what was the difference between the APR and APY. She said she's have to go ask someone. Sorry, but we think that is basic and if you're helping to guide people to your different investment products, that should be finances 101, right? Secondly, even as a married couple, my husband and I were told that we'd each have to have our own accounts and "join" them. So even though we'd use 1 account for depositing all of the money, I'd need a separate account (joined) to that first account to be able to have account access/management. We literally scratched our head and asked why but didn't get anything other than "the company recently instituted this policy" but no real reason that would make sense to us. Additionally, for each account you have you must have some type of activity once per year to avoid any maintenance fees. She said all you'd have to do is withdraw at least 1$ and re-deposit it (for example). Ugggg, we politely told her that we are trying to make things more simpler in our lives, not more complicated and we politely left. We may go back to our original CU since we had to do none of this with them, and admittedly it was super easy to deal with them, but their interest rate was lower than the area, but until then we will continue to shop around and find someone to help us make part of our financial life less complicated. read more

I have always received amazing service from everyone at this RBFCU location. Everyone is extremely helpful and takes time to explain things if you have questions. I have seen others complain about this location but from observing other people when I have been here, it's usually because they didn't get their way. Yes, I have had to wait to get service but it's usually because someone hasn't filled out their deposit slip (or even know what one is), they don't have their ID (would YOU want to bank somewhere that doesn't verify ID before touching YOUR money) or they think they should be able to get service when they are not even a member. RBFCU is rated as one of the best credit unions in Texas and it's for good reason - they provide great service! If you see negative reviews, be sure to dig a little deeper on that person's profile and you'll see that those people have a habit of giving negative reviews. read more

I switched here from another credit union three years ago. They have better interest rates on both my savings and checking. Plus I like the fact that you can use their coin machine for free if you are a member. (last CU charged me 8%!!) The staff are always super nice and it is clean inside. All of the bad reviews here seem to be in regards to the drive thru. I haven't been threw the drive thru, but if you are willing to park your car, get off your butt and walk the 20 feet inside, its 5-10 minutes tops and more often than not I am the first person in line. ;) read more

Open joint accounts online but didn't get the member numbers. Visit the branch and got the member number to sign up for online account. Also, wait time wasn't bad, but need to improve drive through. The 1st speed bump is much higher than all the remaining speed bumps. read more

I just wrapped up a refinance with RBFCU (they paid off my former mortgage company today) -- took about 40 days (elapsed time). The entire process, except for the closing, was handled via email, online and the phone (while I live in Texas, I don't live near their offices). I'm satisfied with the outcome: I was able to lock in a good rate and the process was mostly smooth. Early on I almost backed out based upon all the negative reviews about RBFCU on Yelp and elsewhere on the Internet. I would say that my experience was nowhere close to the bad stuff I read online. What was my experience? I dealt directly (email, phone) with 3 separate individuals at RBFCU, in this order: A loan officer, a mortgage processor and a mortgage closer. The loan officer was very responsive and, for the most part, transparent. I was a bit disappointed that during the timeline, early in the process, the rates dropped by small amount for one day and I missed it -- I mistakenly thought the loan officer would tell me about it -- wrong! you have to setup their online monitoring tool to alert you (I wasn't told about that until too late and only after I asked). Not a biggie but still, the loan officer should have pointed me to it and told me why it was important to set it up (without my asking). They did make an offer to roll in the closing costs (at a higher rate) and did give me a general idea of what to expect. Of course, they couldn't tell me "when" I'd close but did assure me that the rate lock period would be sufficient (which it was). Again, other than the lost rate drop opportunity, I'd rate the individual as very good/helpful. The second individual, the mortgage processor, was the most difficult to work with (not "bad" but not always easy) -- sometimes I had a challenge in getting a timely response and there were a few times when I had to repeat a request for information and in one case I had to ask "Is there some reason you can't provide the information I've requested? - which generated the answer I was seeking. That was a bit frustrating. I can only assume the individual was overloaded at work. They were always professional in their responses and the quality was good - just hard to communicate with at times. The 3rd and final individual, the mortgage closer, was great - very professional, responded quickly and stayed on top of things - definitely the among the best I've experienced in all the home financings I've done. To improve the overall process, RBFCU should assign one person to be a customer focal point, quality check/assurance contact - throughout the process - Making sure there are no customer issues and providing an escalation point as well (if there are issues). So - based upon my experience, would I refinance with RBFCU again? Absolutely. read more

I deposited money on the day before a check was suppose to clear. Unfortunately it cleared before my deposit. I have never had an overdraft or NSF on my account. Yet they can't do a courtesy one time refund. APlus FCU will do it one time. I'm fixing to retire and transfer all my funds. It won't be to RBFCU. read more

I went to get assistance from this branch and was treated horribly. My husband suffered a stroke and I was trying to make a car payment and even with a power of attorney they did not give me the payment information. I will never bank with them again! read more

The bank is pretty good but the drive thru at this location is horrible! It takes me 30 min just to deposit cash because I have to wait for every other person to be served since there is only one teller working the drive thru but they have all 3 lanes open. Heaven forbid if anyone asks a question because then I have to wait even longer or if you get in the wrong line. read more

I approached RBFCU about an auto loan. They quoted me at 3.1% for 60 months for the 2010 vehicle I was interested in. At this time I was not a member. I switched to a 2011 vehicle and they assured me that the same interest rate would be applicable. I purchased the vehicle and then proceeded to spend 3 separate days in their branch, setting up the account and getting the paper work for the loan finalized. After being placed on multiple holds, having the wrong information processed and offered to me, I was informed that I was now getting approved at a different rate and for a different amount. I was not able to continue to waste my day further to obtain an explanation as to why they told me one story before I was a member, got my money, and then changed the story. I will be promptly closing my accounts and happy to refer ANYONE to literally, ANY other bank. read more

I had a good experience with RBFCU. Everyone was professional and I got the service I needed.

As far as I can tell, no one at RBFCU knows what they are doing except that they know how to steal your money. I have been dealing with this POS so-called credit union since 1993. They will come out and tell you they "follow a procedure that debits are done first, then deposits are done". I deposited $10,200 cash and was charged a courtesy pay fee of $24.00 the same day for a draft in the amount $10.99. They have cleared a transaction but left the pre authorization on hold. You keep records of what you spend, but quite often you don't know what the POS CU has on hold for your account so they can get a courtesy pay fee out of you. You literally have to keep your laptop on line to watch them every minute, or they will charge you a courtesy pay fee. The old days of when you just had to balance your checkbook are over. Now you have to balance your checkbook and try to figure out if POSCU has really made a deposit and if they think you might maybe possibly go negative, they charge you a courtesy pay fee. So let me save you some heartburn before you go to RBFCU. Take a shortcut and just give them your money then spend what is left with cash. Otherwise, bank somewhere else. read more

Worst bank ever!!! Opened an account 3 tears ago when I came to Austin because it was close to work and because it was a credit union with less fees???? I also have a Wells Fargo account for 18 years and even though not always happy, they at least have a call center with supervisors and can escalate issues when needed. RBFCU is ran more in an arbitrary matter, they don't really have standards and it depends on who you talk to on the phone or in person. I got pre-approved for a car loan and then when I was about to buy they said that the offer was no longer valid under those terms (14 days) told me that the interest would be 2% higher!!! Also they offered me car and home insurance cheaper than what I had and when I greed they changed the pricing and then I discovered that they were just reselling Allstate which is what I had and still have... Dishonesty!!! I already told my employer to change my direct deposit, after that I'm closing my account. Cheap bank!! read more
