When a heat wave hits Chino, we all know it can get unbearably hot, and with a family and pets in the house it can get miserable for everyone when the air conditioner suddenly breaks. This is what happened to us this summer! We tried getting a service out through our home warranty system, but they were not able to get anything closer than a week out. This would not do with temperatures reaching well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit each day. A Yelp search brought Mark and RC Air into view. A call to him and he said, "We can be there this afternoon." It was just an angel had been sent from Heaven! In just a couple of hours, when he was surely crazy busy with calls from all over, Mark was there. He was able to diagnose a problem with the blower motor and had a new one with him on his truck. In less than an hour the motor was replaced and the air conditioning unit was providing the entire house with cool, refreshing air! Plus, Mark gave a reasonable quote and was up front and honest throughout our time. A couple months later, the air conditioning unit froze up outside and Mark was able to talk me through the steps of increasing air flow to avoid freezing inside of the unit. And he did this at no charge! You can't beat service like that and it certainly isn't easy to find. Our unit was 29 years old, and we were confident we needed a replacement when it started blowing hot air. My a/c had not been working well since last year. I called another company a few months ago and was told I needed a new system because mine was old (16 years) quoted price for it about $12-15,000. I called RC Air Friday before last and talked to Mark. Quite a surprise. He was here on Saturday about 5 pm In the middle of a heat wave. I thought I'll have to wait days, with this heat everyone is busy. Before coming in the house he put refrigerant in the outside unit. came upstairs, check the air flow, gave me an idea of the problem and the cost and made an appointment for Monday at 8:30 to get in the attic and fully inspect the system. He showed up at exactly that time. No waiting. Mark was thorough explaining the problem and the options. total price if the system needed to be replaced $5000, but probably $2,500 if only the attic coil needed replacement. Since the system is perfectly back working right now with the refrigerant, I told Mark I was going to wait and see how long it lasts, since as he explained, evidently, there's a leak in the system, to what he agreed. No pressure, knowledgeable, all questions answered, professional, great manners. No extra charge for being a weekend. No charge at all for the inspection. No charge for the refrigerant. When your tenant's dog destroyed the AC cooling unit, there are not that many options left. Many HVAC companies, citing their reputation on the line, they will only quote you with the most expensive option - replace with a brand new unit. My AC cooling unit is the older one that uses R22 refrigerant. Meaning, I could not just replace with a new AC cooling unit, the furnace needs to be replaced as well - due to the liquid pressure difference between the two. This will easily cost over $5000 for a new HVAC system. I found RC Air on Yelp. I told Mark about my situation. He is very honest and gave me a few options - 1.) replaced with an used unit, 2.) a new compatible unit that does not use R22 refrigerant or 3.) new system. He took his time and explained the pros and cons for each option. For my case, I opted for an used unit with renewed parts that also comes with one year warranty. Thanks Mark! I would highly recommend RC Air. Our air conditioner was blowing warm air so we called RC Air per the recommendations of others. They came by to check the unit the next morning after we called. After an inspection we were told that our condensing unit would need to be replaced and were quote a cost which seemed reasonable but we figured we'd better get a second opinion. Although the second contractor was willing to try and fix our old unit there were no guarantees and we could see the corrosion and we also got a second quote to replace the unit. The second was a bit higher so we went with our gut, the better price and recommendations and hired RC Air. I felt we were dealing with an honest contractor that was giving us the best advise. Wow! Mark is the best! My 84 year old mother lives in Chino and I live two hours away. I was looking for someone on yelp to help her when her air conditioner stopped working in the middle of a heat wave. Another company she called, came out and told her the air conditioner was too old, not even fixable, and it would cost 10K for them to replace it with a new one. Mark came out, and added some new refrigerant. He then outlined some staged options in case it still wasn't working properly. The last resort would be to replace it with a new a/c for 5K. Half what the other company quoted! Turns out the new refrigerant did the trick and he didn't even charge her for the visit. I left a message with RC Air but no one got back to me in several days, meanwhile it's getting really hot. Finally I did get a response and Mark came to examine the attic portion of the house. We arrived at the problem, (which were a lot). Rats had invaded the A/c wiring. Although he did not charge me, he never came back to do the work. He was supposed to contact me because working in the hot weather inside the attic is brutal. If he wasn't interested in doing the job or he had easier jobs, I get it--but why didn't he just say so.
