Bought a home 4yrs ago, have had Mark come out based on a referral and he has been great every time. I left a message with RC Air but no one got back to me in several days, meanwhile it's getting really hot. Finally I did get a response and Mark came to examine the attic portion of the house. We arrived at the problem, (which were a lot). Rats had invaded the A/c wiring. Although he did not charge me, he never came back to do the work. He was supposed to contact me because working in the hot weather inside the attic is brutal. If he wasn't interested in doing the job or he had easier jobs, I get it--but why didn't he just say so. Mark is knowledgeable, honest and efficient. My A/C went out in the evening. He called me right back, walked me through some basic trouble-shooting, coached me on how to get through the evening and was able to come the next morning. He started early so he could could accommodate us. He doesn't mess around. He identified and resolved the issue before I could finish my morning coffee. Called them for my 87 year old mother's AC unit that stopped working a week ago. Even when every AC company was busy they responded the same day I got a hold of them. They spent some time working on it and got it to work ( old unit). They left after that but came back a couple of hours later to check on things, make sure it was still working. During their checking they went out a back door that was seldom used, mom had a mini blind covering the window next to the door and window on the door. Unfortunately the blind broke and fell. This wa an old plastic blind, has been up there for year and years. When they were done fixing, checking everything my mother wrote a check out but they refused to take the check saying they broke the blind and felt bad, even though my mom insisted they take the check, (very reasonable price $250 for all the time they spent) they would not take the check!! As a dentist i try to treat all my patients as how I would want to be treated, with honesty and high ethics and moral values. This is how RC Air treated my mother. You don't find this kind of business in any type very much anymore. This was at a time when I am sure they were busy but spent more than enough time making sure my mother was going to have air conditioning.. She really needs a new unit and these guys will be the first we will call when she decides to do it. I am very happy I called them and don't write many reviews but needed to do this to thank them. As I write this review we are torn. We have been very pleased with the HVAC system that RC Air installed, but customer service is lacking greatly. Mark is very knowledgeable and runs his business with integrity, but we are frustrated with the lack of follow up and follow through. Over a year ago he replaced our HVAC system and did an amazing job. He and his team worked in a sweltering attic and hauled away all of the old stuff. Very friendly, courteous, and the AC worked like a charm. But, he never came back to finish the detail work he promised. After six months and several messages unanswered, we finished the work ourselves. We still owed him money and wanted to reconcile our account so a year after installation we sent an email asking for service since the system had stopped working. He made the extra effort to squeeze in a visit on a Sunday afternoon, for which we were very grateful and he had everything humming in 10 mins. He inquired about the balance due and we asked about paying only half since we finished the work, not him; to which he agreed. There were two other issues discussed at the time of original installment that were not taken care and we brought it up asking if it was still possible to get those completed. We were assured that he would return to do the work. I believe that communication took place early August and we still have not heard a peep back. The sad thing is that we knew that as soon as he left, it would be a very long time before we heard from or saw him again. Mark is extremely busy and tries hard to run an honest company with a reputation for integrity; which I believe he has accomplished. Today is Sep. 13, 2014 (Saturday) and it was skorching hot at 90 degrees heat this afternoon in my home and my AC unit needed repair. My whole family was home sweating. I don't usually write reviews, but in this case I feel I must tell others what great service I received from Mark at RC Air last night. During our first cold spell of the year my furnace went out and I called RC Air. Mark returned my call that same evening and offered to come out within the hour to take a look at my furnace. He also offered to come out on the weekend. Mark arrived within the hour and discovered the problem immediately. He fixed it within 20 minutes and then refused to take payment because it was such a simple fix and because it was due to a mistake made by another company. On a recent sweltering Saturday afternoon our air conditioner began blowing warm air. I had an idea what the problem was and checked Yelp for companies in the area. I saw in RC Air's profile that the company was available until 10 pm and had positive reviews. I called the number listed and got a message that the voice mailbox was full so I sent a text message and got a response within five minutes from Mark. I explained the problem and was told that he would try and be at my house Saturday night and if not the following day, Sunday, for sure. The next day I sent Mark a text message that I was home and he could come by any time. He and an assistant were at my house in ten minutes. He diagnosed the problem, put in a new part, a fresh charge of Freon and we were up and running. Mark and his assistant are professional, courteous and nice guys. I'm very surprised how RC Air have many good reviews and I rarely give out bad reviews myself but Mark the owner of RC Air definitely did not meet my expectations. I originally hired Mark based on his reviews here on yelp to relocate my AC Unit. However, after several failed follow ups and communication I decided to just go with another company who's more dedicated to their costumers. Word of advice DO NOT EVER trust a company to do a job if they lack commitment and communication. It just reflects on their work ethics and service. Mark and his company RC Air proved to be one of those companies. You would think dealing directly with the business owner would give you a top notch service but it was truly the opposite. The only reason he gets a 2 star rather than a 1 was that he came out and disconnected my AC unit like he was supposed to. I would never recommend Mark and his company to anyone who's looking to do major/minor work with their heating & air conditioning/HVAC system.
