Joe showed up, kept his word, and got it repaired saving me thousands of dollars. Finding an honest HVAC technician is not easy..especially during a holiday weekend, in the middle of a heat wave, with a very old A/C unit and a family with children living inside the property. This was for a rental property I purchased a couple of years ago, and the outdoor A/C condenser is over 35 years old. Of course, it decided to go out on a Friday afternoon during Fourth of July weekend. The unit was humming, but the top fan was not spinning. The small copper line was getting hot, the large insulated suction line was not getting cold, and the unit had made a squeaky sound before it stopped working. I contacted 4 different HVAC technicians, sent pictures, and explained the issue. 3 of them jumped to recommending a full replacement just because of the age of the unit -- a $10,000 to $12,000 job. Meanwhile, the house was heating up fast: around 80 degrees downstairs and 84 degrees upstairs. Another technician said he could repair it, but he came across more like a salesman. He started naming several other parts that "probably" needed to be replaced and quoted me around $1,500, plus another $200 if I wanted it done sooner -- even though he didn't have the parts yet. Then I found Joe. From the beginning, Joe stood out. Even through text, he came across honest & personable. He is a younger guy, but it was clear he knew what he was doing. He quoted me a VERY reasonable price, and it matched what I had already researched for the likely parts and labor. That was the first sign of integrity. But..his next official opening was not until the following Monday (wait 9 days...) but when I told him there was a family with children living in the home, he said he would come by after his job in L.A. around 5. I'll be honest -- I still looked for a backup plan because a lot of contractors say they will show up and then disappear, cancel last minute, or change the price. I texted a few more people and even found others who were willing to do it for a similar price, but none of them gave me the same trustworthy vibe so I decided to stick with Joe. And he came through as promised. Because the unit was so old, he had to improvise a bit, but he figured it out and got it running again . No pressure tactics. No scare tactics. No upselling. Just honest troubleshooting, fair pricing, and solid work. The family was happy, I was happy, and Joe left with a smile. I highly recommend Joe to anyone looking for A/C repair or installation. Honest contractors and technicians are hard to find -- sometimes even harder than honest mechanics. I found one, and I plan on using him for both of my properties moving forward.
