I went to RC Lynx for some advice/help with a battery issue I was having with my RC car.. I was warmly greeted and given the advice and help with my battery issue, the guy there fixed my battery for free, gave me some knowledge how to avoid this problem again and sold me the correct charger I needed and an extra battery..I had a good experience there and am planning on going back to have some upgrade parts installed. Not sure what the issue is with John. I went there when I was in the Central Valley and I found everyone there super helpful and nice. Even got some good advice and info from one of the repeat customers. Very clean and organized. Prices were competitive. I bought a RTR kit and am very happy with it. Sure they were sold out of the newer body style BUT.. they had the classic. They are friendly, great selection and the sheer amount of cars, trucks and parts is incredible! I had recently fried the flight controller on my Nanohawk...I was desperately jonesing and needed something to fly. I left with a TinyHawk II and several batteries. Extremely poor customer service...man named John yells at people who touch his RC cars that are on display...he clearly does not belong in retail. My sons have spent thousands at this shop, they are adults not children...my son lifted a displayed RC car he was thinking of buying and from the back he yelled at him as if he were 5 years old...yelled at him not to touch the car...they lost the sale and an exceptionally good customer. We went to another store and my son bought his next RC car. He asked if he could pick it up...their response was "of course"! They also sell wrong parts which requires a second trip to get the correct parts...this has happened several times. We will not return... read more

I just returned from buying my sons first hobby grade RC Truck from John at RClynx. He has a great selection for all levels. We were looking at 1/10th scale cars but he advised that a 1/18th scale would be better for my 9 year old. John's prices are the same as you can find on line and he is knowledgeable and friendly. They also have spare parts so you can pop in for replacements when you break something in a crash or you can upgrade your vehicles there. John also had a good selection of planes as well as plastic models. I will definitely be recommending RCLynx to anyone looking to get into RC cars or trucks. read more

Came here based on a lot of positive reviews, shopping with my daughter to buy her 1st RC car. She ended up picking up a Traxxas 2wd Rustler and a Traxxas charger/lipo combo pack. The lady working was helpful and gave me a small discount, every little bit helps. They do have quite a few cars and trucks to choose from. You wont find this place unless you're looking for it. I appreciate and support local shops that still offer RC fun for everyone. I haven't had an RC myself in over 25 years so I'm out of touch with the latest and greatest, but in speaking with 'Big John' over the phone prior to coming in, he was very helpful and gave me some suggestions (which is why I went with a separate battery and charger rather than the factory combo that includes them with the Rustler). They even had some throwback Tamiya cars from back in my day (reproductions) which was pretty cool. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Went to RCLynx to pick up an order I made from their website and was told they don't process orders online and they wanted me to pay an invoice they sent through my paypal. After talking to paypal and my bank I was told that the merchant (RC Lynx) needs to accept the money I sent them through the website payment process, lo and behold they said the money isn't there. Asian lady in the store front is nice, but Fat John or whatever his name is was very rude and doesn't seem like he wants to help out. Made me feel like they don't want my business so guess what, not going back here again. GO TO CENCAL HOBBIES INSTEAD, friendlier people and will help you out with any questions you have. Should have went there in the first place and got my Traxxas TRX6 in 10 minutes instead of having to deal with a rude shop owner. read more

I just had one of the BEST customer service oriented experiences in a long time! I bought my son a remote control airplane for Christmas from a local hobby shop (RCLYNX Hobby Shop at 1025 Lone Palm Ave. suite #2F Modesto, Ca. 95351-1579) My son flew it for the first time and crashed it after about 5 min. of flying. Unfortunately, the propeller broke and the propeller shaft bent. John told us that when the parts came in that we purchased, he would fix it for my son for free! In a time of "Big Box stores" and customers being treated like just numbers and pieces of a bottom line, it's refreshing to come across a company that treats their customers like the all-important parts to its success as they are. the older a**hole (owner i am assuming) was rude the moment i walked in the door. i was there to spend money. i live around the corner and thought riding my bike over would be a great idea. I work on bikes for a living and just like the rc world the people that do it for a living have the nicest equipment. i walk in with my bike because leaving outside in the sketchy area where they are located would insure it getting stolen. then I'm out 4 grand. i ask politely if i can lean it against the wall while i shop and the old dude that has no bussiness even speaking to me chimes in and says word for word "that's where my customers stand" wtf do you think i am? it took every ounce of restraint i had to be respectful and just nod and listen to him berate me in front of 3 people. the younger guy was rad. super nice. helped me out answering my questions about crawler and stuff. HE ENGAGED ME. i was trying to keep my business local but due to shitty customer service i will be buying on amazon or going to cen cal hobbies. avoid this place. read more

I purchased a midsize drone from John and in about a week one of the motors went out, when I took it in John not only gave me 2 new motors but showed me how to install them as he did it. Great service and this place will go out of their way to help you, have a little patience, its a small place and can get pretty busy. read more

After having a bad experience at Norcal Hobbies in San Jose California, I was visiting the city of Modesto and decided to visit this shop with my girlfriend and two other friends. At first, the shop is in a very hidden spot, so unless someone who is looking into RC car hobby, they probably won't find this place. When I went inside it was a very small tight place, but I was greeted by two gentlemen. Which is great because Norcal Hobbies didn't greet me from the 30 minutes I was in there store. So that's a plus. As far as inventor goes... Dang, they did have a lot of stuff available. RC cars, RC boats, I think I saw a few flying RC's too. I liked that they had a lot of things to look at. I was already looking for a particular RC, and that was the Traxxas Bandit. The person who helped was very friendly and knowledge, he had the color I was looking for too. (Plus points for that) All in all, it was a very great experience and will come back again if I'm in town for their services in the near future. read more

These days it's hard to find good RC shops. I have a 12 year old gas truck that sat for 10 years. I didn't get good help at the big hobby town shops that I checked out so I decided to run out to Modesto and check this place out. It is a small shop in a hidden spot but once I walked in I knew I found my new hobby shop. John worked on my motor for a couple of days and couldn't get it to budge. I was concerned untill he told me traxxas would replace it with a new motor for only $80. Two days later he called me and said its all ready. I am very happy with the new motor. While replacing the motor he noticed a few little issues and took care of them for me. If your a RC person you need to check this place out and leave the hobby town shops to the average toy players. read more

Wow! Went in today to buy a number of things one of which was a set of tires/wheels! I asked his employee if I could open the package to be sure I was getting what I needed (the package does not give the size) the tires where 45.00, she said " no way" I asked if John was in, he came out of the office and said the same thing! This package could be opened a closed with one staple! I have been there at least 4 times in the past 2 months and have spent well over 400.00! I hope it was worth loosing 3 customers!
