After my appliance repair man retired I needed a new one. None of my friends had any good referrals , so I called Thermador (my oven was in the fritz) and they recommended RD. The appointment receptionist was exceptional and they could come over the next day. They sent me a map of where the technician was before he arrived! The tech was polite, professional and very knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and said parts needed to be ordered, but showed me how to get around the problem in the meantime. Thanks fellow Yelpers for the lead on RD. When our dryer started punching holes in our clothes, and then a cloth ring fell off into the drum, we started looking for a repair service. On the first visit, the tech found the piece was a gasket, and called Samsung to ask about the part. Bad news for us (and typical of Samsung in our experience), the gasket wasn't a separate part... and the whole drum needed replacement! What could we do? He ordered it and said it would be shipped to RD in 7-10 days. It came a bit early, and they called to schedule an install. The same tech arrived on time, was quick with the fix, was clean... and took the old drum with him. Great job, RD... and no more wasted time for my wife at the laundrymat! read more

Hello everyone. Updating my original review here, as promised, with the conclusion of the saga. Here are the simple honest facts of why you should quite obviously steer clear of using RD Appliance for appliance repair. There are also some things they should learn about the repair business as well. * My double Thermador Wall Oven's lower oven wasn't heating. This has been the case for several months, but it wasn't a new problem. It was just one that hadn't popped up for a few years. It had been repaired before pretty easily, but obviously not inexpensive. I assumed that would be the case again. That previous work was done with another company (that I should have used instead clearly!) * The upper oven has always been working fine. Let's remember that as we dive deeper. * The technician acknowledges the upper is working and accesses the control board. Much later on, she mentions that the board began smoking and sparking when she accessed it. * As a result, the entire appliance is dead with now a fully damaged control board. * Here's the problem: RD says I now I have to pay over $1,330 for this repair for an oven that had been working prior to RD's arrival. It is the equivalent of taking your car into the shop for a rear brake job and now both axles broke and the entire braking system failed, rendering the car inoperable. And somehow this is my fault on my dime? * It's an old Thermador, so parts don't exist for this. But RD said they can have it repaired in two weeks time. But they have to ship the part to Texas for repairs through this guy?!: https://www.fixyourboard.com/ * In the end, they finally are getting the part back now with only a 1-year labor and part guarantee and it won't be fixed until next week at the 3-week mark. I've spoken with some electronics expert in the meantime that believe there's a real good chance this repair won't work out of the gate because it's a 24-year-old Thermador with a burnt control board! * So let's summarize: RD completely breaks my oven because of what I believe was incompetence, makes me pay for it and takes it's sweet time fixing it with no customer service or even an apology. * Here's some advice to RD: if you think there's a good chance something could happen like this, hopefully you have enough expertise to give the customer the disclaimer that sometimes old boards fall apart upon inspection and then ask if we want to go through with the repair before you begin. And, once the board is smoking and sparking and the oven is dead, have the expertise to tell the customer it's probably better worth investing in a new oven versus taking the chance with this repair. * But they clearly just wanted to cut and run with my money. * Bottom line: RD clearly lacks the competence and expertise necessary to properly repair appliances and I would recommend finding another repair business instead. Brad came and was on time for the appointment Worked on the dishwasher for quite awhile and did whatever needed to be done. He gave me some tips on maintenance. Dishwasher worked ok. I am still shell shocked by this company! We had a Bosch dishwasher that just stopped working. We called Bosch and they could not come to our home for a week or so. We checked on line and found RD with good reviews. Their tech came on time and diagnosed the issue as a Burt our pump. This was after he took a broken ceramic blade tip out of the impeller which he thought was the issue. After getting the estimate of cost to repair our six year old dishwasher we decided just to replace it. Called and PC Richards had it in stock. The guys came to install and low and behold the new dishwasher was giving us the same messages we had got on the old machines display. The installers asked if "anyone" checked the connection of the drain to the sink disposal? No we said. They then took a tool and pushed through a small stoppage which was the real cause of the problem! Could not ask these guys to put our old unit back but after we cooled down we called "David"at RD and he said that was not a good representation of their business. Since he estimated that the Bosch washer should have lasted four more years he sent us 40% of our purchase price we had just paid and refunded the service call. We will never ever use anyone but this company for future service. They just don't talk the talk they walk the walk and provide exceptional customer service. WOW! And thank you! read more

I needed my Thermadore dishwasher repaired. After spending $666for the repair a few days later I noticed there was a leak under the sink. A repairman (Ray who was very nice) tried to fix it after telling my husband and myself he had to do something to the pipe in order to access the hose to the dishwasher. He was unable to fix it and said he would be back in a few days to complete the repair. I received a call and later spoke to the owner David(who refused to give me his last name!) who informed me they would not complete the job and I would have to hire a plumber at my own cost. Since the repairman acknowledged he had done something to the pipe and was set to come back I don't know why David would not honor the one year warranty on labor. I called about the Fisher Paykel double drawer dishwasher explaining that the bottom drawer was working perfectly but the top drawer was dead. it would have been a wonderful service if the office suggested that the lock button should have been pushed in order to release the lock mechanism while speaking to me on the phone. Instead I had to wait 6 days & pay a service call for the button to be pushed. That's outrageous! read more

OK Refrigerator repair, takes two days to schedule....day of appointment I get a call canceling, then to reschedule it they won't schedule for 5 days. I understand things happen but I also wonder if there is more than one repair person in this company. I requested to repair Thermador downdraft for the cooktop; the RD technician told me that the lift motor is faulty and needs to be replaced and is discontinued. Therefore I would need to replace the whole downdraft, and since the cutout in the granite would not fit newer models, I would have to replace the cooktop and granite countertop too... I found the discontinued motor on line in Ukraine, and before placing the order I got another opinion: all the downdraft needed was cleaning with WD-40!!! The unit is up and running! My Frigidare refrigerator was icing up (freezer) and leaking water. Ed came by about 2PM and quickly diagnosed the problem A faulty defrost limiter and of course, a clogged drain (ice). He had the part available an quoted me a fair price for part and labor (including clearing the line). Very professional and clean. Well, I can only give 5 stars. I'd use more if I could. Why? Excellent service that went well beyond what I expected. I called on Thursday morning at 7:30 for a leak in my washer. I guess that was the owner whom I spoke with. He told me they'd be here between 9 and 11. At 9 I got a call, be here in ten minutes. And he was. Looked at the washer, found the problem immediately and also pointed out my water hoses were in need of replacement (they were at least 10 years old, so yeah, I'm good with that). The tech (David? I think it was the owner in any case) told me he only had one of the two valves that needed replacing. He showed me the leaking from the old valves, so there was no question in my mind. Said he'd be able to replace one valve and return the next day with the second valve and new steel reinforced hoses. I was ready to wait, although I explained I had an important medical appointment the next day. He told me he'd do what he could. Fast forward to around 2 PM that same Thursday. The tech called and said he found the second valve on another truck. He came to the house 20 minutes later, and less than 10 minutes after that the washer was back in order, no leaks. The cost was in line with other repair services, but R&D is a local Bethpage business so I wanted to "shop" local. So glad I did. Service well above and beyond what I could have expected. Excellent service. Technician, David, came to my house on time (even a few minutes earlier) to fix the oven. He was able to diagnose the problem right away and even ran out to the Wolf range store several times to buy the parts needed to complete the service on the same day. I have used another company to fix my high end appliances in the past. They usually did not carry the parts and would have to come back several times to complete the service needed. What's worst is that different technicians would come back to try to solve the problem. It would sometimes take 2-3 other visits to complete the work. I have a Miele dishwasher, and it was expensive to repair, the part needed was costly. I knew before the tech arrived that this would be an expensive repair because I got a few quotes beforehand. The tech was neat, and very knowledgeable. I watched him do the repair which involved sliding the dishwasher out, turning it upside down and removing the part which, due to German engineering, was solidly anchored to the machine's base.
