If your geothermal system was installed by RDI and your system subsequently fails and you try to contact RDI, no one will call you back. I wound up contacting a different heating and cooling company to fix problems due to faulty installation. Now everything is working fine again, but I would never personally do business with RDI again. The installation technician had an attitude and couldn't get along with the onsite construction crew. I did my best to get along with him, but he was arrogant and short-tempered. That was quite a few years ago and there's a good possibility he doesn't work for RDI, but I kind of think he does. Negative a hundred stars. **PLEASE READ TO AVOID THE SCAM.** This place is a shady, scam riddled company. How you guys sleep at night is beyond me. You've been reported to the better business bureau, your business card has been posted on social media and all my friends/neighbors have been told to avoid you at all costs. I'm just appalled. Lets start at the beginning shall we? You cancelled on me twice. Always having to reschedule the day of, for sick technicians or an emergency. I had requested my AC looked at, but after all your cancellations it was too cold to do that service. After that I had a feeling you weren't someone I'd use in the future. Steve was sent out and lied to our face about a crack that was potentially leaking carbon monoxide. We asked how bad the risk was and he said "you're risking dying". I hate when companies use fear tactics without educating. No, "let's do a test and see" or "I'm not 100% sure but I'd like to check to make sure how bad the leak is". He turned off the gas and said we could turn it on after he left. Just rude, shady and unprofessional. It took him a few *minutes* to find this leak that DIDN'T EXIST. He made us feel forced to purchase a new furnace today. Just horrible, awful... ugh. Even my husband knew you were a scam and told me during his inspection to find a new place right away. ***The good news is we called an AMAZINGLY HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL company called ACI who came out right away, told us you scam constantly and did an extensive inspection and even ran tests for carbon monoxide (which Steve never did). No cracks. No leaks. Never pushed anything on us or used fear tactics. This scam company offered us a free inspection. Said Steve would change the filters (which he never did) and whatever this "bright beginnings" is that promotes your business, they will know you're a scam and a waste of air. I'm just so appalled. I almost threw $4,000 down the drain today. $4,000 for a furnace that works great. That's not money we just have laying around, that's my children's college fund. We have used RDI in Hayden for several service calls. We had an issue with our furnace when we bought the house, they came up with a great solution. Our furnace went out this winter and the fixed it promptly at a fair price. This spring when we turned on our pool we noticed the heater wasn't working. 3 days later it was up and running at a 10th of the cost of a new one. I know it is difficult to try to find a company who you can trust to fix your stuff but we have had nothing but good experiences with them and are glad they are down the street from us so if we need something they are a phone call away. Also, each tech that came out to our house was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. read more

3 years ago RDI installed a new furnace, it is now rusting and they will not stand behind it. They will not look at the defective furnace they installed without being paid for it, a service charge to look at a defective furnace they installed and want me to pay for it. This is not one of them The owner and staff are genuinely interested in your situation and doing what is best for YOU not their pocket book. Had Rdi out for an estimate for a new furnace, gas piping, ducting and tankless hit water. 2 guys show up with a tape measure no clip board and I proceed to,show them around the house. Nothing is measured , no notes taken. Felt like they casing the house. Being a contractor myself, I've never seen the likes of this before. They left and said they would get back to me in a couple days, yup,you guessed it, no response. They seem to be looking for unsuspecting and gullible people, watch out. Just my opinion. read more

I was first introduced to RDI Heating via a Welcome to the Area coupon for a free inspection. I was reluctant as I thought it was a ploy to tack on additional charges. Not so. The appointment was set and a tech was immediately dispatched. Steve S was extremely personable and very competent. No surprises, no short cuts, just glad to find a quality provider. Wanting to add a garage heater a couple of months later, I didn't have to think twice of who to call. Once again, the request for quote, the appraisal, written proposal, acceptance, scheduling, and installation all happened within the same week. The 2 techs were very diligent, sticking with the task through the lunch hour. They were curtious to listen to my suggestions for mounting and routing pipe and wire. They even offered to rehang an insulation blanket on the adjacent water heater. At the end of the day, I was glad I once again used RDI and I came away with the added benefit of being introduced to yet other service providers for construction of a new shop. Zero stars is not an option, but I would choose that if possible. Two years ago RDI installed a stove pipe for my new wood stove. They were recommended by CDA stove and Fireplace. A month ago we had a chimney fire and the fire department was called. Come to find out the installer shoved a 6" pipe through a 4" hole and then HE DID NOT CONNECT THE PIPE TO THE STOVE!! Extremely dangerous for so many reasons. RDI does not return my calls nor follow up on their promises. I would never recommend this company for anything! read more

I wish I could select half a star or no stars. We contacted RDI Heating and Cooling to service our gas fireplace as soot was collecting on the glass and distorting the view of the flames. A repairman came out and immediately diagnosed it as being so sooted up as to be not repairable and that it was dangerous to operate. He said that his shop would contact us to as we needed a new fireplace and it was our only option. We had the salesman out from RDI and the estimate for a new fireplace and a mason to repair the rock was roughly going to be $6000 plus. We decided to get a second opinion and brought out the repair firm that handles our gas furnace and air conditioning (ACI - we hadn't called them at first as their website did not say anything about gas fireplaces). Jim from ACI adjusted the fireplace and suggested some minor repairs that might be needed down the road. I asked about the soot issue - he ran his hand around the exhaust pipe where he could reach it and showed me his hand had very little soot at all. He said it wasn't really very sooty. We decided to run the gas fireplace and test it. Prior to the adjustment the glass would start to get dark in four days. It's now been two weeks and everything is running fine and we leave it on for hours at a time. Simply put, I would not trust RDI to evaluate anything. It seems to us their plan is a ploy to get customers to buy new products. NOTE - it's now been well over a year and the fireplace is working perfectly with no further repairs or adjustments. read more

I had a very bad experience with RDI in May of 2018.. My AC had leaked and they said fill it and take the chance of it leaking as they did not know where the leak was coming from..$720 to fill coolant. or replace it with a new one for $3200..Not being very smart and savy on AC..I decided to purchase a new one.I trusted what they were telling me and thought I could trustthe information given to me.. My exsisting AC was only 6 years old..After installing thhe new AC it would not hold the coolant either. They said at that time it needed a new coild that is where the leak is. (Why did they not mention the possibility of the coil being the problem...other than saying they did not know where the leak was)..So a new coil was ordered and the new AC for $3200 worked great. My Ac of 6 years would have worked great with a new coil and the cost would have been $500-600.. They are not honest with their customers and do not admit to their errrors of judgement. I feel I was taken advantage of being a senior ..Beware of their selling and repair tatics..Get a second opinon before using RDI..I reported this to the BBB...No stars from me..minus mabe 5... I Had to mark a star to send this...still aminus 5 in my book!! read more

My whole house humidifier quit working and I called RDI to come out and take a look at it. I had used RDI in the past and had good results. The service technician tested the solenoid on the humidifier and said it wasn't working. The humidifier is an older model and the tech said it was so old he would not be able to get a new part for it, the humidifier would need to be replaced. I agreed and was told the cost was going to be $700, parts and labor. That evening I was feeling uneasy about the high cost and found humidifiers at local hardware stores for around $250. I called another heating/cooling company for a second opinion and was told the solenoid was indeed bad, BUT, it could be replaced for $200, parts and labor. I called RDI and had a heck of a time getting the $700 refunded to my credit card. They told me they could not refund to the card would have to let the charge go through and then write me a check. After 2 phone calls to the bank and 3 phone calls to RDI, I did get the charge refunded to my credit card. Maybe service technicians for RDI work on a commission, and get a percentage of whatever they sell to unsuspecting customers! read more

This place is the just horrible in my opinion! Where to begin... We called and requested someone to come out and give us a quote on a whole new heating cooling system (heat pump furnace and pellet stove) well the guy Rhett that came out was in a big hurry kinda rude and didn't even take my name down correctly, but since their price was right I decided to go with them HUGE mistake! Well 2 weeks later after putting half down to secure the work they came to do the heat pump and furnace first... Super nice installer (Ryan) got the job done... Well AC seemed to work fantastic, then we decided to kick the heat on and give it a whirl well it kept kicking the breaker out and shutting down.We immediately called RDI to come out and look at it as it was getting colder at night and it was our only source of heat since they hadn't yet installed the pellet stove.Got the complete run around was told they were booked out but could have someone come out and look at it after closing hours the next night between 5-7pm I said ok great!! Well I waited and I waited no call nothing at all no one showed up at all!! Called the office first thing the next morning and was told that they couldn't find my house and tried calling me but I didn't answer and they couldn't leave a voicemail because my voicemail box was full my voicemail box has never ever been full. So that was a lie!! So they said well we can send someone out to look at it this afternoon I said ok... So next service guy named Phil shows up very rude attitude goes back looks at it says looks like it's a electrical issue so nothing I can do and out electrician is booked 2 weeks out (remember I have no heat pellet stove not in yet) so I said ok are you sure and he continues to look and finds that their installers wired it on completely wrong so he fixes that... Then I asked him if he could quickly talk to my husband on the phone and explain to him what was going on... He slams his tools down and says I guess and my husband had asked him to also since he was there check the heat pump as it seemed to not be running quite right he said that's not what I'm here to repair.... Ok fine whatever we said just get the heat running.... So now we had an install date set for the first of October for our pellet stove.... Well they didn't show up I called several times and was told they were having trouble getting the stove we had ordered mind you we ordered it a month prior! So I waited a couple days and went in to talk to the manager and find out what was going on.... And of course he knew nothing about it and got right on it said we will be out in 2 days to install and apologized for all the imconvience... So the install day arrives and I was happy to see Ryan show up as he was very nice when he installed the heat pump! So he gets all done and I'm missing my trim kit... So Ryan called The office to find out where that was at and was told they didn't have one and if I wanted it it would cost an extra 500 bucks and my quote clearly listed the trim kit in the bid! So I took that down showed it to them and they ordered that in came out 2 weeks later and put it on... Well next we decided to give the nice new pellet stove a good run and of course had a horrible smell which we figured ok paint burning on new stove breaking in phase yada yada.... So we continued for a few weeks to run it smell never went away so hubby gets down there to Look it over and notices that the pipe on the inside of the house is leaking smoke and ash into the house that's what we smelled... So we call down to RDI and are told oh ok someone can come out next week and look at that for you... Next week?? Really smoke leaking into someone's house ain't an emergency situation with carbon monoxide poisoning well ok then.So another service guy shows up cannot remember his name.He's here bout an Hour cakes the pipe with silicone and leaves... So we run it that evening still smoking!!!! So we call RDI next morning and are told that someone will be out next day to fix the problem and at the latest it will be resolved by Monday since that was a Friday... Well Ryan shows up looks at it says we need to just replace the whole thing... But we don't have the parts until Monday ok fine so we are told someone will be out Monday.And wouldn't you know it nope no one shows up then we call are told someone will be out tomorrow (Tuesday) nope no one! So we call and finally get someone to come out Wednesday at 10am... So repairman Josh shows up replaces the whole thing runs it for a bit and says well that should fix it.And the smell of silicone was pretty strong naturally so couldn't tell for sure but figured replacing the whole pipe would fix the problem..WRONG still smoking so now we're told the manager Jacob would be out this afternoon to fix it himself no show supposed to come tomorrow. It is December 2015 and all this started in September 2015. You'd think after 10,000 dollars we would have a full great working heat system but nope!! read more
