The location is quite nice. Beautiful views. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The parking lots are dirt with not a lot of gravel. You will have to walk to get to the venue. If rainy be prepared for mud. The space while lofty is cramped and tight. The kitchen is quite large and open with the dining area and takes up the bulk of the room. The space can get quite loud and the kitchen adds to the noise level making hard to talk even at a close distance. The menu was nice and offered variety for everyone. The appetizers were small but delicious. The main course had small portions and was a bit bland. The salad course was just lettuce with a few beets and barely any dressing. It was simple but lacked flavor. The soup that came with the salad was more of a shot glass and while interesting left some guests wondering if it was dressing for their salad rather than a soup. The main course arrived cold and needed salt and pepper for taste. The flavor was bland and all one texture. The dessert was good but was unevenly cut which left some with a very small portion. It was a fine dessert but nothing you probably haven't made in your own kitchen. The coffee tasted stale and as of old coffee grounds. And you didn't get a refill. I think this place could be quite lovely. However my overall impression is that it isn't worth the price for the food quality despite the atmosphere. read more

Had the BEST dinner experience of my life here. The wait staff was very attentive and every part of every meal was explained to us (which we found super neat since almost everything was locally sourced from the farm!). Walking around the premises at sunset with a glass of wine was absolutely gorgeous. The meal felt incredibly thought-out and everything we ate was a unique pairing that was composed of the harvest from the time of year (and was DELICIOUS - the salad dressing blew my mind). I was so impressed that the chefs here will make their own unique recipes based on the harvest monthly (this is an art!)! It made the meal all that more special and for a fancy meal, it was 150% worth the cost, especially knowing that it's going to a great eco-friendly establishment. We had a lovely time at RE Farm Cafe at Windswept. We participated in the Chef's Counter Experience and added the wine pairing. The service was exquisite. Each employee stopped by and made conversation - we felt very attended to. And the FOOD! Five courses plus some extras here and there Chef Greg created a fabulous menu and it was even more impressive knowing that most ingredients came from the property. We attended the Thursday night tapas + music night and had a great time! The farm is BEAUTIFUL and they let you walk around the farm and look at their fruits, veggies, and chickens! The menu changes all the time depending on what they pick from their gardens. We sat outside on a comfy outdoor couch area with our two kids. All the staff were SO NICE to our kids! The food was so good! We tried almost everything they had on the menu at the time. The cheese plates and charcuterie plates were small but we liked what they included (except the pickled almond--that's an acquired taste!) We also tried the fried squash, the olives, the taco, and the slider. And we tried the desserts too-- key lime pie and mint chocolate chip ice cream (with fresh mint). The music was horrible when we went, but that's not RE Farm's fault. We had a fantastic time and would love to return when we're in the area again! read more

This place is very cute. Inside is what you'd expect of a fancy farm dining experience, and outside is a gorgeous countryside landscape. The food was definitely not worth $100 though. Quality-wise, not bad, not good, just OK. Mediocre. But they make a production of the 5 course menu and make your feel special. Many reviews mention tiny portions. They are indeed tiny, but after 5 courses it adds up and no one left hungry. However, the food wasn't very exciting or anything special, really. Moving to State College from a foodie city was a tough transition, but RE Farms makes things a little easier. It is by far, our favorite restaurant in State College. All their food is grown on their farm or locally sourced. The menu is seasonal, so it changes frequently. Out of the five times we've eaten here, we've never been disappointed. I really wanted to love this place. My sister and her husband were in town visiting and we made the Thursday picnic a special last-night-in-town plan. Before attending the picnic, I tried calling numerous times all throughout the day to see if my dog could attend with us. No one ever picked up the phone. I sent a DM on their Instagram page and left a comment and I never received a response there, either (I will note that I received a response the following day). I asked when I got there and they said no dogs were allowed. I think that's something they should maybe include on their website. When you walk up to the barn for the first time it is truly stunning. Beauty in every direction. We were so excited! We were greeted by a friendly woman at the front (I believe it was the owner). We were asked if we would like chicken or beef for our kebabs and then we were taken outside and told we could pretty much sit anywhere. Later in the evening we gave the people at the grill our popsicle sticks with our orders and waited about 30min for our food. Unfortunately, by the time our food arrived the salad was wilted. It was clear that it had been tossed and sitting there for some time. Along with that, the portions were very very small. It was a handful of lettuce with small pieces of veggies and meat on the two skewers. I think the thing that was most frustrating was everything was extra $$. With the $35, I thought it would include dinner, maybe a drink ticket, dessert. All of these things are listed on the website and it certainly is not clear that you must pay extra for each thing except the very small meal they provide. Along with that, the cocktail drinks were $10 for the smallest cup. It was just an evening that left a whole lot to be desired. We left the premises at 7:15 and did not stick around for the sunset so we could make our way to Barrel 21 for a more substantial meal and drinks. Lastly, while we were walking out we asked the owner where we could put our baskets (that included our empty food to-go boxes). She had us sort through our trash and put all of our compostable items in a container and take the basket with the remaining items and drop it off at another area. $35 is a lot to spend for, again, an extremely small meal. So when you couple that with sorting through your trash just before you walk out of the place it kind of leaves a bad last impression for the evening. It's all unfortunate because the location is truly beautiful. Overall, I probably wouldn't return unless substantial changes were made in relation to food/drink portions and also the service provided. read more

RE Farm is a solid attempt at providing a classier establishment to the State College area, and their efforts should be commended! Their location, building, and idea is great; they only serve food grown/raised on their farm, they have a really nice building in a beautiful setting, all their dishes are creative, and they have a suite of chefs and servers at your disposal. For that, I'd give 5 stars. For their food, however, I would give 3 (hence averaging out at 4). Since different dishes are prepared by different chefs, the style and quality of the food ranges widely. I love that the style varies, but not the quality. Some dishes will be super tasty, complex, and exciting, while others require you to add a pile of salt on them to extract any wisp of flavor. Unfortunately it seems that the latter situation is slightly more common. It could be they are trying to appease central PA folks who probably don't want a lot of flavor, but I often find myself wishing I had brought a bottle of Tabasco and a jar of salt. They have a great idea and a good start, and I hope that when I try them in the future the food tastes better than Stouffers! read more

We were 6 for dinner post our sons graduation from Penn State. In the four years he has been at college we were not aware of the Re Farm and all I can say is that it was a huge regret of ours. The ambience was amazing. Thr food even more so. We had the set meal and the standouts: black bean soup with the salad, brisket, pork stuffed cabbage, trout, chocolate cranberry dessert. The bottle of sparkling wine so reasonably priced and delicious. The serving staff were an absolute pleasure and we left with a warm rosy glow promising to come back in the summer. read more

We sat for 1 1/2 hours until our main course arrived. Total meal time was 2 1/2 hours. We were told it was due to a large party. We pre-paid $80 per person and felt as though our table didn't really matter. We were in no hurry, it's just sitting that long and not getting anything but "Can we get you some more water" just didn't portray an $80 per person meal 3. Main course: 3 out of 4 meals were 2 Stars and 1 of the meals was 4 stars. Both chicken dinners on the menu were over cooked/rubbery and the sides tasted heavy with salt. One of us actually only ate a few bites of the chicken dinner and no one even noticed or commented on our full plates when they removed our dishes. Overall we rated it a 2 Stars. We felt it was not worth the money. The main course and attention to our table, played a large part in our rating. We did say we would return for the atmosphere and some tapas. read more

We just had our third meal there. Although I love the concept, the food just isn't very good. Tonight my main was Feijoada and my wife's main was Grouper. Mine earned a C and my wife's earned a B-. Monica and Duke took wonderful care of us for our private post-funeral dinner. They opened the restaurant just for our group and served us a fabulously delicious meal with fresh local ingredients. The vegetarian entree was exquisite with roasted squash and a medley of vegetables, and the duck breast with cherry sauce was outstanding. Dessert was an irresistible trifle, and the salad and squash soup were also delicious. Service was impeccable and so friendly. They are great communicators and made everything easy, especially as planning was last-minute. They really made our celebration of Mom's life special. The view is beautiful and the Thursday tapas with trivia provides a fun outing. The selection of food for the tapas is good but little salty. The overall idea of farm to table sounds timely great. However, the regular day of dinner is quite pricy when considering the quality of food. In terms of service, the business must train the servers to better serve for minoritised customers. Particularly, a White waitress is so racially biased and disrespect to customers of color. What a shameful to have this kind of business in State College! read more

This wonderful new farm-to-table restaurant option fills a much needed gap in State College's dining scene. If you're looking for delicious, modern, intentional food in a beautiful, memorable setting, look no further. I went to RE Farm with my family as part of our holiday celebration, and I think we'll be adding it as a yearly tradition! There's a very varied group of tastes and palates in my family, and somehow everyone came away thrilled. The service was extremely attentive, and truly made sure we having an enjoyable experience. We got the 5-course meal, and every single course was delicious, from the house-made andouille sausage in the small plates, to the incredible vegetable shepherd's pie, to the rum raisin apple tart. Although fine dining can often leave you still hungry with small portions, the portions were very generous and we came away thoroughly satisfied (and we eat a lot!). We came at night so unfortunately we missed out on the view (which I'm told is gorgeous), but the building itself is beautiful on its own. The attention to detail and the care for the environment are truly evident in every aspect of the building, the menu, and the experience. Highly recommend! read more

What a deliciously unique experience it is to dine at RE Farm Cafe at Windswept Farm in State College, PA. The entrance to the farm alone is delightful. You will see sheep, pigs and chickens that have access to acres of land to roam freely. As you enter the cafe you are greeted by a warm and professional staff. You feel their enthusiasm as they guide you to your table and point out the thought and effort that went into its design. Much of the gorgeous wood used on the floor and around the windows has been repurposed from within the local area. The finished product is a beautiful surround for a fabulous meal. The Waitstaff could not be more pleasant or accommodating. I find this to be a big part of making the whole experience memorable. The menu is constantly changing because you eat what's in season. The creativity of the Chefs using these fresh ingredients right off the farm will delight your taste buds as well as your eyes with their presentation. What is not grown on the farm, is for the most part, sourced locally. It is a BYOB facility but they do provide specialty glassware and lovely garnishes. Reservations are required. I came to the Saturday Brunch with four girlfriends. None of us had ever done a Farm To Table experience before. The price of the meal included three courses with two selections per course. Between us five we had all the choices at our table during the meal. Every dish was beautiful to look at and even better to taste. RE Farm Cafe is a real gem of a restaurant in State College taking the "farm to table" concept to the ultimate level.....the restaurant is located on the farm where the produce and livestock are raised. The chef actually goes out and selects the produce for the meal. They serve a limited and varied menu based on the produce "in season". So week to week their menu changes and the food is incredible. This evening the main course was a choice Yak meatballs, lobster tail and vegetable lasagna. Maine Bay and Berry provided last nights lobster tail. The reason for the three star review is due to the fact that, for the price, the food was just okay. The small plates style three course meal plan was nice but I was expecting savory high quality food and it didn't hit the mark. We dined over the weekend with two out of town guests and it was not the experience we were hoping to give our guests. The COVID procedures were a little excessive. We had to put on a mask every time the serving staff came to our table. There was 4 courses plus all the drinks. It kind of ruined the ambiance of a meal...if the restaurant is that paranoid, send a text and we'll tell you what we want/need. It. was. awful. I think these procedures need to be posted on the website prior to reserving tickets as we would not have dined here if we knew it was so extreme. The food was unmemorable, needed more flavor and overall just eh. Our guests were just as disappointed and we will not venture back. For this price we expected better. read more

I don't think it could get any better than this! My husband and I visited RE Farm last night for an early seating at 5:15. We were truly impressed by the whole experience, from the time we drove pass their farm animals on the small unpaved road, to the unexpected tour guided by our lovely waitress, Suzanne. Throughout the evening, you can see people working in the field, picking up fresh crops for your next meal. All the staffs were just amazing. We had the pleasure of meeting Monica (the owner), and Chef Bill who were super attentive throughout dinner. We ordered each item on the menu to share since we wanted to try everything under the sun (pun intended) and then were generously offered seconds. While their portions were just right, we were too curious to stop. You can BYO wine, which is something we love since we're complete snobs about what goes inside our glasses! What an amazing night! The care and love put into an outdoor, socially distanced starlit birthday celebration for a small group of special friends. Amid all that's going on ... every detail was paid much attention for the health, safety, and enjoyment of all. Outdoor seating for each individual at ten feet apart ... wait staff in masks and gloves .... everything set up before ... we all wore masks and had a wonderful time! The setting is magical. Fireflies, firepit, lambs playing on the hill, gorgeous mountains, wonderful food, and an event planner (Thanks, Tatjana!) that pulled all this together and made it seem effortless ... the owner built the fire in the firepit himself and there were smores! ... we even saw the comet Neowise while looking through our telescope!
