Incredible food and incredible service! Best chicken dish we have ever had. Definitely get one of the cocktails.

We went as a large group (13) after a sporting event at the college. They had a nice space for our group. Overall, the vibe came off as pretentious. Although service was attentive, it was very slow overall. We were there for close to 3 hours. Food was plated beautifully, other than the kids item, which is fine. Our group was mixed on how much they enjoyed their items there were definitely some rave reviews. Our items were just fair. The pork chop sauce was tasty, but chop was a little overcooked. Chicken flavor was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. For entrees over $30, I want to love them. The butter with the bread was really good, nice slightly salty. I was hoping for a nice IPA on draft and settled for a pale ale. The wine prices were over inflated, IMO more than the normal, expected restaurant inflated. I wouldn't go back; there are better tasting, more fun and better value options.

Love love this place! We didn't have high expectations since overall yelp reviews were not great but willing to give it a try and glad we did. We sat at the high top by the bar. The service, drinks and food were all amazing!!!

Service was excellent, our server was very attentive and gave good recommendations. The food was good for the most part. Two of us enjoyed the squid ink pasta with langistino and clams which was very tasty and full of fresh seafood. However, my son ordered the ribeye which for 70.00 we expected a thick prime piece of meat. His steak was extremely fatty and thin. Looked like something that you would get in a diner. I definitely would not recommend ordering this if you are looking for a good steak. It mediocre at best.

Cozy upstairs place-enter on W. College Street and go upstairs. Some tables wrap around W. College and S. Allen upstairs for a pretty view of the street. And it's fine dining! Exemplary service! Fine wines!

The food is plated well and everything looks gorgeous. Tastewise though, a lot of the dishes were over salted to the point of almost inedible. Service was okay, although they didn't ask us how the food was, they were kind and explained the dishes. The decor and the vibe of the restaurant was nice though. It's a good place to bring a date.

The atmosphere is surprisingly warm with a big city vibe at the Allen Street Grill which is a fine dining establishment in State College. Their menu also surprised us as it is quite creative considering downstairs is a diner, and our seasoned server was kind and attentive. As an appetizer, we ordered the melon Caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. It was fresh and delicious. We also shared a cheese toast appetizer with figs and prosciutto. As an entree, my daughter enjoyed the pesto pasta with asparagus and peas while I had the halibut with tomatoes and salsa verde which was also delicious. My husband loved the duck. It seems as though the menu changes often, so I'm sure we'll be back to enjoy their food and atmosphere some time soon.

Beautiful dining experience! First class dining in a college town. We were surprised by how delicious the hummus was. Extremely friendly service and patrons.

Food was amazing can't recommend the game bird as well as the lobster and clams linguine enough!

Place is very old fashioned and charming, upstairs 2nd floor. Ok so I failed as a regular Yelper, no pics...geez. We had the charcuterie, melon caprese salad...wow amazing flavors. We also had the seared tuna and wedge salad..OMG amazeballs. The old fashioned was very tastey and the wife had the fuzzy white sangria and loved it. For desert we had chocolate red wine cake with pistachio ice cream...oh my goodness, best desert ever. The service was impeccable., Thank You Kaci your attention to detail and knowledge of the menu options, hands down amazing dining experience.

Amazing meal and wonderful warm service. Son had Torched Sardine Toast to start & Alaskan Arctic Char for main and devoured both with relish. I started with a Simple Salad as my main was the rich and savory Oxtail & Mushroom Mafalda. Wow! The Arctic Char was perfect and absolutely delicious but the slow braised Oxtail & Mushroom Mafalda was truly special. Highly recommend!

We came back to this restaurant because we thoroughly enjoyed the Shellfish Ribollita. Of course we ordered it and it lived up to our expectations yet again. We also ordered the Bucatini Carbonara because we had seen another patron enjoying it and we looked forward to enjoying it as well. It was good but not amazing. We were told by our server that her favorite item on the menu is the duck meatloaf so we hope that we can make it back there before the menu changes. We love the atmosphere and the cocktails are well balanced and nicely presented.

What this restaurant does well, it does particularly well. The carbonara is excellent, and easily their top entrée. The limoncello makes for an excellent dessert. Conversely, other entrées, such as the flounder, are okay but not necessarily the best you'll have. The location's ambience is very inviting, conveying, a sense of intimacy and elegance. The service is very good and attentive. It very much has the feel of a date night destination on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening.

B I G Vibe Small Bar Bit Noisy…read more We stopped in Local Whiskey during our stay in lovely State College PA. Our local friends recommended the sister bar/restaurants (Local Whiskey and Central Reservation) and we were glad they did. We enjoyed delicious craft cocktails professionally made by the bar staff and enjoyed a delicious Strawberry salad. Bar had pos decor with great tile work - we felt like we were in NYC. We had a great happy hour at Local Whiskey because the staff was polite and professional. We did find the decibel level in the bar extreme. My wife's smart watch gave her (a first ever) decibel warning. Unfortunately it was so loud she and I could not have a conversation so we left.

I don't drink alcohol so I can't speak to their bar or other food. 5/5 Food: where to start with the burger- its thick patty has a great crisp outside and medium inside and is graced by nicely cooked bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and a proper amount of sauce. The fries are classic, semi mush-semi crisp fries with coarse grained salt. The meal with a delicious burger that outdoes any other I've had in state college, even those that cost close to $20. Walking out the door, the meal (fries, burger, drink) cost 8.05, and I was happy to leave a larger than 20% tip to make it $10 even. I challenge you to find a better burger in state college, regardless of price. Honestly, my MBA-trained senses obsessed over what their business model might be and I'm hoping that it was providing enough for the owners and staff. 3.5/5 Service: Friendly. It was really busy when we were there and it was a tad slow, but we also had a group that came in at different times. 4/5 Ambiance: nice-ish college bar inside, clean bathrooms. Only complaint is that the booth table was too tall for the chairs, I felt like I would have been better suited to kneel to eat my burger than sit (I had one friend who did kneel to meet the height of the table) Tl;DR Excellent burger; confusingly great value.

It's different than most in the area. You don't get the same kind of crowd. It's not the college student flooding the doors. It's adults professionals families coming to have a good time in a calm, relaxed pub they're not looking to spend hours knocking back shots or blinding up drinks you can if you want, but it's more sophisticated than other bars in the area, it's found in the same building as the tavern, which is also a great restaurant, but at Adams apple, you don't need to spend the same amount of money as a whole meal. They got good appetizers and great drinks of the restaurant is wonderful old Tavern style of a pub that has a good sized bar to sit in the winter they have a fireplace. The aroma smells wonderful because of all the drinks and to top it. All the bartenders are great at what they do and they will always help you with a drink that you want to specialize or make recommendations all in all it's a great place and I think if you're looking for a bar downtown, especially if you don't want it to be super crowded with college students I would say go here.

The old fashioned was mixed appropriately, served over a cube with an amerana cherry and a fruit peel. The Original Sin isn't as I remember but that could easily be me. The drink is for those that don't drink and tasted like seltzer with grenadine. In actuality, the Original Sin is champagne with cherry brandy. The prices are a little high for State College and the Old Fashioned was delivered in a slightly non-traditional glassware for the drink. The Old Fashioned pour was also stingy.
