This place rates high for me for efficiency. I usually only go in for a blowout. I also, wash and deep condition my hair at home to cut down on wait time and just go in for the actual styling. It doesn't reduce the price but it does get me in and out of there in under an hour which is great. I love that they open extremely early on the weekends and wish they would incorporate that for a day or two during the week for people who would like to get a quick blow out before work. They offer a wide variety of services which includes weave installation which can sometimes cause a slow down in service. I agree with other reviewers about price inconsistency. They do fluctuate by about $10 or so up and down without much reasoning behind it. It's not a huge difference so I never really make a fuss about it. read more

Reaction .... Will make you react... I live in the area and go here for the wash and set my hair. I wear a weave so I thought it was so convenient! NO ... this place has gone down since Jackie is no longer there. They rush your hair and talk about you in Spanish! BEWARE!!' The lady in the second chair ( to your left when you walk in) is NO GOOD she always has an attitude ...I went to this location at 5:30 on a Friday... they rushed everything just to get out at 6:30 if you close at 6:30 that does not mean you are leave at 6:30.... My hair was still wet ( always) and they forced me to blow out my hair wet! They force me to pay before my hair was done... just to get me out by 6:30... I will find another salon. Happy new year. When I get my hair done the service is fast but the staff of beauticians is very chatty among themselves. They do not pay much attention to customers unless your are up next on the list. I wish this year they were more customers oriented and less talkative over the clients. read more

At the last minute I needed my hair washed and braided down for a sew in & a friend told me to stop here. I was able to get my hair washed shortly after walking in but I had to wait at least 30 minutes for my braid down and then the cost of a wash and braid down was $80 which stunned me !! They burnt my hair to a crisp. I went to wash my hair a week later (like normal) and from the damage, half my hair broke off. To this day my hair is crazy damaged from that ONE time getting my hair straightened. I hadn't straighten my hair in roughly 2-3 years prior to that experience. read more

I will not recommend this place to anyone. I was told about this place by a friend who goes there. She has shoulder length hair. She pays around $45 for a wash cut and blow dry. I went there today for a trim. Yes, trim, my hair is very short, to the length of my ear. I asked for wash, trim and blow dry. Thinking that I would be charged around the same price as my friend, to my surprise the woman said $75. I was shocked. I never pay that amount before anywhere. I start to complain about the price. There are no prices posted on the wall for services of course and English was not the choice of language to anyone in there. Love their work but no consideration for others time. I purposely get to the salon in enough time to be serviced and always end up rushing out due to the fact that they never take people in order. For example, I've watched 2 people walk in after me and out before me while they refuse to check the dryer instead just keep setting it for more time. 2 hours wasted under the dryer so we know they aren't concerned with heat damage smh in need of a new salon I'm tried of giving these folks my money and time. read more

Highly doubt they use quality shampoo and conditioner. To be honest it feels like they added relaxer to the conditioner. The texture of my hair felt different and I was told it was only the water but I felt the difference. I usually walk with my own shampoo & conditioner to be on the safe side but I forgot mine this time. All I had done was a simple wash and blow and they changed $50 which is waaayyy tooo expensive. My hair is only shoulder length and they charged double the price of other salons. There was No additional products, no trim, so wrapping and fancy hair up do/ curls. They my may be fast and convenient but way over priced. I know prices have risen since the pandemic but this is robbery. Quality over quantity when it comes to business so for that I will definitely go to another salon where the price is reasonable and the quality of products are better. read more

I've gone to Reaction since they opened in Baldwin and continued to go because it was quick and convenient. But BEWARE. All they are concerned with is getting people in and out of chairs. The aren't concerned with heat protection or the health of your hair. They wash your hair with cheap shampoo and conditioner, so i started washing my hair at home and then going. But they will also have you sit under the dryer on max heat for an hour and a half and not check on anyone until their dryer turns off on its own and you still have to flag them down. Then they'll turn the dryer on for a few more minutes. I also stopped letting them wash my hair because they roughly rip through my wet hair with a tiny comb and a lot of my hair would end up on the floor. I understand hair shed, but this was carelessness and them wanting to get the task done faster by just ripping through knots. They also use unnecessarily high heat for their hand blow dryers and straighteners without ANY heat protectant. I always HAD to ask them to put heat protectant on my hair before doing anything and they'd spray a little here and there. They're quick, but the health of your hair will deteriorate quickly if you continue to go to Reaction. The service has decrease exponentially since they opened years ago and they couldn't care less about upkeeping your hair and doing treatments to make/keep it healthy. read more

Fast and friendly service . I always come here when I need a wash and set and don't have 4 hours to dedicate in the salon. They have a full staff about 15-20 ladies . I'm usually out of there in 90 mintues or less my hair is medium length and extremely curly. I never had color done or anything just go there to get my hair washed , rollers and and a blow out. On Saturday's they open at 730am instead of 9 just to handle the craziness of the weekends like common what salon opens that early ! To tend to their customers. The weekends are busy buy they open at 730am .... The price is very good only 25.00 and they take cards which is a huge convenience for me . As soon as I'm done with the dryer someone is always there to remove the rollers and show me to stylist that will be straightening my hair . I don't know if other services provided but if your looking for a regular wash and set this is your place . FYI deep conditioning is an additional charge I wanted to post a second review , I always come here and my hair is always 25 . The woman charges me 43 dollars ! I was in such shock I'm like why ?? She advises that my hair is longer than medium . In my head I wanted to say pump your breaks blondie my hair has never been past medium since day one . I stopped going there because they were ruining my hair. I was nearly bald before I stopped. Bartola the "coloring expert" put permanent dye when she knew I had relaxer on. A few times before I had to remind her to use the rinse when I overheard her say the rinse wouldn't take. But she managed some how to put it in. Later on, I could hear the workers commenting in Spanish that I was losing my hair but they never offered a solution. I started going to them because they work fast. You can usually get in and out in an hour. But what is bad about them is that they apply extremely hot temperatures on the clientele's hair without considering the damage. They use the flat iron so hot it sizzles and they get upset if you ask them to lower the temperature. I am not the only one who stopped going to this salon. I met two women standing on the CVS line talking about how they stopped going there because they were losing their hair also and the price flip flopping. The only thing I have to thank them for; is that now I have gone natural and my hair is long and beautiful since I stopped going to them. read more

Great salon. I go to the Reaction in Westbury. They really know how to treat their customers. There's are well organized unlike most salons. When I arrive I am Waiting no more than 15 minutes and even that is a stretch. The salon is very modern and clean. There is great parking in the back of the salon. However, the quality of customer service has changed drastically. First, DO NOT come here if you have natural hair. They do not know how to handle natural hair at all. I've been coming her for a wash and set for my weave. No problem. I finally went here to have my natural hair done and they charged me an extra $40 because I have natural hair and my hair is thick. The deep contitioner they use on my hair is "Trash". Toal charges was $80. No one got a tip. They dont know how to comb through the hair. Using small tooth combs. This was my first time at reactions. The Baldwin location has a parking lot which was really good. I was welcomed on the walk in and I had a seamless wash & set. I usually go to impressions on merrick but I won't be going back. The salon at Reactions is FULLY staffed in the morning which I appreciate. I was discouraged by the amount of women in the salon but I was in and out wash, set, blow, flat iron, wrap on a weave 2 hours exactly and I paid $37. They take card, have cash back. I gave 4 stars because there was a lady in the front as I was leaving complaining about a sudden price change. And unfortunately there is no sign with posted prices so it seemingly varies with the mood of the person at the register. But all in all, the experience was good. I walked in at 3pm begging to be walking out by 4p. And they managed to do just that. I was washed with a blow out and pin curls in under an hour... what more could I ask for...? Cost $40 read more

I had my hair done here yesterday evening. Wash, deep condition, set, blow dry was about 2 1/2 hrs and cost about $43 for non relaxed hair. Problem is, I called on the phone ahead of time and I thought they said $23 (yes I mentioned the natural hair). Whatever, they did a beautiful job. There were only a couple of annoying things: there were children everywhere. playing in the middle of the floor, toys everywhere, etc. There was this woman who washed my hair who was super gentle and very nice, but she had to help someone else because she was also the nail technician. The second woman I had yanked my head around like I was a child, and really strained my neck. By then end, there were like 12 people waiting around to get their hair styled. It was crazy packed. Again the results were beautiful, even if my neck is still sore today. They do have this area in the back that's pretty cool if you're getting your hair done and a pedicure at the same time. There are hair dryers attached to the spa pedicure chairs, it's pretty neat and probably a great time saver. read more

So I drove all the way here because a friend recommended Adrianna for a sew-in. This would have been my first time getting a sew- in done at a Dominican Salon. When I got there Adrianna seemed annoyed that she was even being asked to do my hair because she had other customers. The receptionist ask someone else to do my hair. Before the second person came along I was bombarded with questions about the weave, "is your weave new? We need to see the hair? Is your hair clean? Never experienced this before during any sew-in appointments. Next, while the second lady is doing my hair she's speaking Spanish to the receptionist about me. That's when I got up and left. I have gone to Reaction Salon for years and was always happy with the service although I noticed the last time that the service seem to have deteriorated. I go to them for coloring which I bring myself. The person that usually colors my hair wasn't available so another person put the color in. She left the color on so long after the dryer turned off that instead of my hair being red it was orange/red. The heat was so high when the dryer was drying it started burning my hair and I wound up taking the rollers and pins out of my hair myself. When I got home I noticed the person actually left some of the color on my face and my ears. I'm definitely choosing to go somewhere else in the future where I can get the quality of service I deserve. read more

I have been coming to reaction for a long time but I usually go to the Jamaica queens location , I come to the Baldwin location sometimes when it's an emergency I was so shocked to see how the shop has gone downhill ! I came in on a Friday around 1pm and the shop was filthy ! Hair and towels all over the floor def a turn off and the staff is so rude they look like they don't want to work ! I shouldn't walk into a hair salon and everyone's arms are folded it doesn't look welcoming at all ! Also they make up what ever prices they want I'm use to paying $30 the most for a wash and set! Extremely unprofessional! I've been going there since they opened up. I was a very loyal customer until today. I have never been so insulted. Miguelina talked about my daughter's hair the whole time. Laughing making fun until I had enough. Just because I can't speak your language doesn't mean I don't understand it. When I asked for an apology she just tried to laugh it off. She refused to apologize and continued to run her mouth making the situation worse. Needless to say I left and I will never step foot in there again. Annoyed, been here hours and when it's finally my turn to get my hair blown out half way through the stylist stop to cut another persons hair who hasn't been here long and was too impatient to wait there turn. The worst hair salon ever ! They completely ruined my hair, my hair does not curl up anymore it just frizzes out. When I went in I had high hopes, just because my sister got her hair done in one of there salons in queens and came out soo beautiful. I went in for high lights on top of already dyed hair. The women started to bleach the top of my scalp because she said my hair was "too dark". Mind you when I usually get my hair dyed, I never had to bleach my natural hair because my hair is already light brown & it easily dyes so i explained to her. But she still decided to bleach the top of my head. Then she started doing highlights. She ended up putting a Ashe toner to the high lights and my hair went green. By the end of the whole session which was 4 I was left with extremely blonde hair with no highlights & weird tiger stripe looking things on my hair. I was still charged $150. She told me to come back to have another women fix my hair which I'm assuming was her boss. I went back to get it fixed & the color came out gorgeous. I was charged $40 because she said "for the blow out". I loved it until I had to was my hair and realized how badly they chemically damaged my hair. My hair is like STRING CHEESE now! It's been 2 weeks since & my hair is extremely damaged & frizzy. My hair does not curl up anymore. I've been trying everything to fix what they ruined & I really don't want to cut it off but that will most likely be my last resolution I do not recommend this place at all it is horrible!!!! & charged me $190 just to ruin my hair.
