Danielle truly worked her magic. Not only did she refresh my hair with the perfect long-layers haircut, but she also gave me a gorgeous, bouncy blowout that lasted all night. I wish I had read some of the negative Yelp reviews before I risked my health and drained my wallet at BP. After going for a required "consult", I returned to see a senior colorist who decided to dye my hair a very dark color that we never discussed, leaving my formerly healthy hair a frizzy mess. She was working on too many clients at once to notice my bell go off. When I politely expressed my concerns they told me I could return for yet another pricey service at a "special discount." No bargain. But the health risks of a visit to BP were far worse than the poor rushed service. As other Yelpers have noted, BP frequently sends out text messages advertising cheap services, attracting hordes of customers that crowd the tiny salon like a NYC subway during rush hour. A few days ago BP even posted a video to Insta showing lots of people at their holiday party during the worst COVID surge in NY since April, with NO social distancing and NO masks! When I saw that video I told them the party wasn't safe so I wouldn't return; instead of an apology I got a rude defensive brushoff from the owners claiming the party was fine. If you value your health and safety just don't go there. read more

Avoid this salon! They ruined my hair and refused to give me my money back! I really wanted to like this salon, and I didn't want to write a bad review but at this point I feel others should be warned before going here. I tried booking an appointment online only to be told that they had my information, but no record of my appointment, when I showed up for my appointment requesting full highlights, I was only booked for a partial. I ended up paying 300 for a partial highlight, hair cut and blow out. For this price I expect nothing less than professional high quality results; however I was greatly disappointed and left mortified. The first time I left, was with pink orange streak in the front of my hair, and the "highlights" I paid for, were very dark... I went back to give the stylist and the salon a chance to fix it because I believe in human error and second chances; however the Second time was even worse. The "correction" was rushed and as a result my hair color was completely botched. Now, not only was I STILL left with a pink stripe, I was brassy and my highlights were splotchy. There was no care or honesty in the poor quality of their work. They covered the terrible mistake with a side part covering the mistake with other hair during my blow out; told me the pink would wash out and sent me on my way....for 300 dollars this is unacceptable. I called the salon to let them know about my dissatisfaction and that at this point I wanted a refund for what was done to my hair. They refused my refund and insisted that instead I return THIRD TIME after already wasting a large amount of my time and resources already giving them a second chance to fix it. There was absolutely no way I was going to risk further damage, waste even more resources and trust this salon a third time. I'm not upset at the stylist, but the salon with the way they handle things. As a patron, I expect honesty; when I didn't get that, I expected to be respected as a consumer. Unfortunately their only interest is making and keeping your money. I Had to go and get professional color correction elsewhere. My experience here from start to finish was atrocious at an over inflated price point. I would avoid this salon at all costs. read more

Lemme start with the fact that I was recommended this place by SO many people, friends, coworkers, and my sister. My sister her hair is also very particulate and she claims this is the only place that can color and do her hair right, alright, that's for her. Me, my hair is also very difficult, and I will admit, some people are meant to cut n style my hair, some aren't. The salon is very small and tight; semi modern but the place is cute. I got a wash and cut, they washed my hair before AND after (yay!). The haircut was okay, then again it was my first time there, not like I have that relationship with the salon lady. My biggest issue however was the price it was like $55 for a men's haircut which I thought was so wild. It's a place, just so expensive. And I think this place was a little bit overhyped. read more

I was at beautiful people salon in merrick getting a blowout. I was charged a 50percent additional fee by Jorge the owners husband. He said it took longer than my appointment time, which it did not. I explained timing should be up to hairdresser not me. He told me I'm more then welcome not to come back. I contacted Judy the owner & she apologized and said she would reimburse me. Disorganized and NOT luxurious. Very nickel-and-dimey -- they charge for color service AND by the amount of color they use. So they won't give you an exact cost until it's already happened. You have to book blow outs separately... but no one told me that. So I was supposed to leave with wet hair? Who would want to get their color done and not find out how it looks until you get home?? I emailed one of the stylists to ask for advice and she never emailed me back. I had to call the salon to ask if I had the right email address. The receptionist was helpful with trying to accommodate my schedule to set up an appointment. The stylists know what they're doing and they really listen to your input. I never thought I would have the courage to leave this review but like it was said before 3 strikes and you are out. So I cannot blame anyone but myself for coming back. Every single time I have had my color done here I left disappointed. Don't get me wrong Angela was patient, and I truly believe she did the best she could but each time I would leave with copper rusty looking highlights which I would say is what I DID NOT WANT ! Each time I complained to Judy she always responded and allowed me to come in for a glaze free of charge. This 3rd time I tried Liz, my thought were maybe if I try someone new Ill get what I am looking for which is an ash brown balayage. After reaching out to her before my appointment, and a 15 min long consultation and begging for an ASH brown I walked out with again copper highlights (the kind that were cool in 2002) NOTTTT a balayage. I am convinced all they know how to do is this place is slap bleach on your hair and nothing else. I don't have the guts to reach out of Judy again but what I can do is for warn future customers. I had platinum blonde hair and back in January 2015 I decided to take a leap of faith and go back to brunette for a change. (Went to a different salon) I hated my hair color and as it washed out my hair had all different bands of color. All I wanted was to be blonde again but I knew I would have to wait some time before going back to blonde. I decided to come on yelp to find a new salon and saw all the good reviews and booked an appointment for end of April with Missy. I had a consultation a week beforehand and Missy had a plan of attack to get my hair back to blonde. I got full head highlights, a base break And a treatment to help my damaged hair. I was so happy to see how blonde I came out on the first visit! The salon is very nice on the inside and everyone is professional. Since I was a new client I got 20% off my visit (woo) I've been there a total of 3 times now and will continue to come back! Great salon. I just wish they had mirrors on the side they dye hair because it keeps me entertained to watch my stylist work on my hair while I sit there for a couple hours. read more

I love the staff here. I really do. Everyone is extremely friendly, and wants to provide the best possible treatment. With that in mind, my problem does not have to do with the staff or the service. I cut my hair to a pixie cut a little over a year ago and I love it! It was the best haircut I had ever received and I was so thrilled with the result. And to top it all off, it was curly! I was over the moon as it looked so good! Now, fast forward to this past Friday. My hair is about shoulder length at this point and I wanted my pixie back but a little longer. I got a haircut by Judy who, like most have said, does an AMAZING job every time. But this time, I wasn't left with my curls. What I was left with was this half straight, half wavy haircut that I'm very disappoint in. I am in no way blaming Judy for this as I'm not sure if there was any way to prevent this. But I am very upset that I no longer have my curls back. I'm not sure if cutting it more will help to bring them back but I do know I want them back asap! read more

I am so excited that I have finally found my new salon and hair stylist! I decided to come here after seeing all the great Yelp reviews and it defiantly did not disappoint! They booked me with their stylist Jackie who was fantastic! Before they even brought me over to get my hair washed, she sat down with me and did an in depth consultation on how she would be styling my hair, which made me feel at ease with the process. The hair wash/head massage was great! The guy who washed my hair really knew what he was doing in the massage department. It was one of the best head massages that I have ever had! Jackie did a great job with my haircut! I have thick wavy hair and I had not cut in quite sometime. She took her time and made sure that I would have a haircut that I loved that also worked for my hair. All through out the cut she asked me questions about length to make sure that I would be happy with the cut at the end. I really liked this! It made me feel much more a part of the process, after all it is my hair! Her blowout was really kick ass too! My hair can be a pain to blow out since it is so thick, but she took her time and it looked amazing! It also held for a good 3 days after my visit to the salon! I also liked that Jackie was fun to talk to and that she didn't rush at all. The people that work at this salon are all really friendly and I also really enjoyed the decor. I got 20% off since it was my first visit to the salon, but I certainly do not mind paying more the next time I go since I know I will be receiving a quality cut and blowout! read more

Ugh hate to write a bad review but had color done Friday after which someone else blew out my hair- the stylist never came back to check how it came out. I ran out of there without looking and was disgusted when I got home- the tips were blue. I went back the next AM and she redid the color. She was not apologetic and seemed annoyed. I asked for another blowout because I wanted to see how it looked- they wanted to charge me for a blowout which I refused as it wasn't my fault I needed to come back. The end result is aweful! Do NOT go to the owner Judy-in fact run! She butchered my hair. Judy and the salon is unorganized and completely unprofessional. Judy is totally socially awkward our conversations made getting teeth pulled seem appealing but I felt with it because she seemed to understand my type of hair and the first cut was good. So I booked a second appointment knowing I'd had to suffer through awkward sales pitches and strange questions. With each of my appointments I was called the day of my appointment hours before-even though my appointments had been booked weeks out, they all but demand to move my appointment time to "suite" Judy's needs, the last excuse was that Judy had to attend a last minute wedding (like what the actual Heck?!) On the last haircut in addition to the odd interactions with Judy she lost the "guide" in my hair and completely "cut out the sides of my hair" and the back of my hair looked look something "took a bite out of my hair." As per the stylist at a DIFFERENT salon I went to in an attempt to fix the gigantic mess Judy made of my poor hair. I-have thick hair and she thinned it out so badly the ends looked stringy. The cut resembled an actual MULLET which is definitely NOT the haircut I had requested! The assistants that washed my hair both times were subpar and they also engaged oddly with little to no social decorum, clearly this is a pattern for this who work at the Salon. Overall I don't recommend anything about this overpriced tacky salon. read more

Because of the shorter length of my hair, what I wanted wouldn't have looked as good as it did on longer hair. I left it up to Larisa to do similar highlights to my original idea, but highlights that she felt would look nice given the length of my hair. I couldn't be anymore happier with the outcome. I had such a bad experience at this hair salon that I refused to even visit the page to review. I'd been getting highlights done on and off for over 10 years. I decided to give this salon a try since it has such great reviews and an excellent rating. I made an appointment with one of their top stylists and showed her the look I wanted, a balayage with baby lights. I've never taken courses on how to style, color, manage or treat hair so I was unable to predict the amount of damage this job would cause. I wish someone would've told me NOT to go through with this process. It has been over 4 months since my visit and my hair is still breaking off in an excessive manner. I must've look traumatized once she revealed the end result and I touched what felt like elastic string, that I was sent a 20% off percent coupon with a hand written note inviting me back for another session. The last thing I want after that visit is an invitation back, what I really need is some sound advice on how to reverse the damage done to my hair and how to preserve what's left of it. I'm absolutely certain that someone from the business will respond to this review with some type of reasoning behind what happened, either way, I learned my lesson and will not be putting my hair's wellbeing in the hands of a stranger without being prepared to handle the outcome. read more

From the moment you walk in the staff is extremely welcoming and the salon is very beautiful. I had a blonde balayage done by Sam at the Merrick ave location and I also got a cut and a blow out and I was absolutely BLOWN away . The color came out soooo beautiful it was exactly what I wanted!
