A rarity in our present society: a new/used independent bookseller. They have quite the collection…read moreor books lining fairly tall shelves and paper sacks of books that have been brought in for trade are scattered around the floor. Surprisingly, their books are well organized! Whenever we can't find what we are looking for, they kindly order it for us, knock off 20%, and have it in just a few short days. Can't bet that even with Prime. I take my kiddo here about every other month to get the next Warriors book and oftentimes we make a couple other finds. My kiddo loves to be able to walk in and request the book we ordered and happily start flipping through the pages. In response to some negative reviews: everyone can have a bad day so maybe take that in consideration. Not everyone is living the same life. We are all just trying to do our best. My kiddo just started another book series, Wings of Fire, so we'll be heading back soon to request the books we can't find at the library.

More than paperbacks, with a decent selection of hardcovers and one of the most impressive children's / youth section that I have seen. Very well organized store with so much to look at. awesome selection of titles with many rare and unique editions to choose from. Their used prices are very decent and all of the others seem to be 20 percent off of list which can work out well in many cases. Friendly staff who are very helpful. It is great to see children get excited about reading, and this store caters to that crowd. We saw two families with children tat were having a great time picking out books for themselves. In this sad society filled with so much laissez faire parenting, it is so refreshing to see parents involved and invested in their children's minds. This shop has been serving the area for quite a while, so please shop local and shop indie!!!!

We were so impressed by the welcoming French style decor, the homemade baked goods and chocolates, and the array of coffee choices. Have a coffee, sit by the window, and read a book. Whitney and staff will make your experience welcoming and special.

I discovered this sweet little chocolate and tea shop this summer. I have visited twice, each time getting a different pastry and a chai. They serve chocolates, tea, coffee, cookies, coffee cake, bread and other treats. It has a whimsical old school charm to it. Lots of art, vintage books and an antique piano adorn the place. The staff have always been helpful, and the pastries and chai have been consistently good. They have good hours. They also have community outreach and offer enrichment classes. If I was a local, l I would sign up for a chocolate making class or one of their paintings / art classes. This is a great place to go for a break or to work remotely. It's definitely a must-visit if you plan to visit Longview, WA.

This massive bookstore has an incredible selection, with something for every type of reader. I could easily spend hours exploring every corner. One of the highlights is the Rare Book Room, it's fascinating to see these book treasures up close. They even have a copy of The Journals of Lewis and Clark valued at $350K! It's like stepping into a small museum for me. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. The entire store has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes me want to stay longer. highly recommend stopping by. It's one of the places that makes you appreciate the joy of books.

If nothing more than to experience the history of Powell's or if you're searching from some sort of obscure book in physical form. This place has all things a book bug would love to dig through. Aisles and aisles of novels, graphic and otherwise provide for endless amount of time looking over their inventory if you so desire. Personally, I also like looking through what I'd call their impulse buys. Stickers, clothing, tote bags and other assorted "gifts". They have a ton of stuff to choose from and all unique and not mass produced. So take some time while visiting or otherwise and stroll through this piece of history and celebrate its independence!

Square Dog claims to be the only store of their kind in a pretty large radius. I have no way of…read moreconfirming that, but do they live up to the massive expectations set by said claim? Mostly. Man, this place seems to have only had one guy working there for years. He's the owner, I believe. It's truly shocking how kind, patient and helpful he is. He's also knowledgeable on most things. I have never found anything I wanna buy here. Five years ago, their movie selection felt about standard. Now, their focus is instead music or books, unfortunately. I'm not a consumer of physical books or music. I hear it's at minimum, an acceptable selection. I can't precisely gauge the value for a few reasons. There aren't many physical media stores in general anymore, plus this guy is very particular about having an extremely high quality of used products he sells. To me, the prices seemed a bit high, but I guess I'm glad he wants to only sell used products that seem new. (Does he sell non used products?) It's an easy building to access, with a huge parking lot. That however, doesn't entirely make up for being closed on a weekend day (Sunday). It being a reasonably big store, COMBINED with the former, does make up for it. It felt like it was very clean on the inside, to a fault...he still has a clear glass panel in front of him at the cash register, and wears a pretty intense face mask with gloves. I'm not going to get personal, don't worry. I'm only mentioning this, because it seriously made him hard to hear when he spoke. So keep that in mind. He had plenty of customers on a Wednesday afternoon before a holiday. Clearly there's something I'm missing here. I've only been here a couple times in five years, so maybe if you're a regular customer, the experience is different and better. There's a few reviews on Google at least, of customers recounting their purchase experiences, that can be very enlightening. Overall, this store seems to have one employee, the owner. A man who provides good customer service, and is concerned about having a pristine store in more ways than one. I'm not sure how many customers he has, but he is still open, so maybe go check him out.
