The Channel Islands had been on my diving list for quite some time. Had planned to make a SBI trip…read morewith two friends, who had to bail at the last minute. Ken was more than accommodating of the changes, and continued to roll with the punches the whole weekend. The group was around 15 experienced divers, all friendly and humble. Captain and crew were equally fun and skilled. We re-routed the trip based on weather, and ended up with average conditions, which in all respects were the best we could hope for at that point. Accommodations were clean, dry, and comfortable and sleeping wasn't an issue. Nitrox fills were $6 (air would have been free), and tanks were topped off promptly after each dive. A tip: skip the wetsuit in favor of a looser-fitting drysuit. Many wetsuits didn't fit by the end of the weekend thanks to the wonderful, plentiful food!

Chartered the sunfish for a two hour sunset whale watching cruise last night and it was incredibly…read morefun!!!! Roger was a terrific captain. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and just all-around awesome. Cheyenne was terrific as well. My group of 10 could not have had a better time. We weren't even sure we would see whales and we saw tons of them and we saw about 100 dolphins and adorable sea lions and other fish just swimming around our boat. What a phenomenal experience! So highly recommended!!!

The all-female crew was inspiring, super professional, welcoming, and clearly passionate about creating a space where women could connect, dive, and thrive together. We started with an energizing dive briefing and a introductions, they reminded us of all safety and rules, The conditions were perfect for diving, a little fog and overcast skies, calm water, great visibility, and the energy on board was unmatched. Between dives, we shared amazing food provided by the shop, laughed, and swapped stories. The raffle prizes were a fun bonus, and it was clear how much thought went into every detail. This wasn't just a dive trip for women, it was a statement, a celebration, and a reminder of what community can look like underwater and above. Huge thanks to Ventura Sport and Raptor Charters and every woman (and men) who made this event possible. Can't wait for the next one!

With it being lobster season my local dive shop was busy. I called ventura dive for a viz and fill…read moreon 5 tanks. They said if I dropped them off on Friday it would be completed the next Wendsday. I drove the 2 hour round trip and drop-off the tanks. The next week the shop called and said they would only have 2 done. I said not a problem. Wendsday at 11:45 I drove to pick up my tanks and the guy said 2 were done. I pointed out there was no nitrox or new viz sticker on them. To make it worse, my tanks are sitting at 0 psi. I now have drove 4 hours and wasted 5 days waiting for my tanks. They are at 0 psi. I'm worse off than when I started. Never trust this shop. Update: The owner called me and was not compassionate or kind about the staff's mistakes. Unfortunately he was the complete opposite of a kind business owner. To be nice I will leave it at that. I gave him the suggestion that he gets all his staff Certified to Viz. I took my tanks to a shop in Hollywood. After I told them what happened they are rushing to get my tanks done in two days so I can go on my dive. Here's the interesting part. The shop in Hollywood is $80 less.

This was my first time skydiving, my instructor whom I made the tandem jump with was Leon. He's…read morefrom Brazil, very experienced and professional. Everyone was very friendly and made this one of the best experiences of my life. I was nervous when I arrived but as soon as I boarded the plane I was completely relaxed, no fear at all. I was living in the moment just looking at the beautiful scenery below. I have traveled to a lot of places in the world but looking at the coast and mountains from Palos Verdes and Catalina all the way to Santa Barbara and inland was awesome. Stepping out of the plane and feeling the free fall for a few seconds felt more like being in a wind tunnel and didn't get that feeling like in a passenger plane losing altitude. I was actually pretty calm and enjoying the experience jumping from the plane. It really wasn't scary at all and I wished it lasted longer. After the parachute opened it was a smooth ride all the way until we landed. One of the most beautiful experiences I have been fortunate to ever have.

The instructor who jumped with me was amazing and made the whole experience feel easy and safe. They communicated clearly, kept us comfortable, and really took care of us from start to finish. There was definitely about 10 seconds of fear, but once you jump, it completely disappears and turns into pure excitement. It was an incredible experience and something I'll never forget. This place was amazing, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking about skydiving.
