The Channel Islands had been on my diving list for quite some time. Had planned to make a SBI trip with two friends, who had to bail at the last minute. Ken was more than accommodating of the changes, and continued to roll with the punches the whole weekend. The group was around 15 experienced divers, all friendly and humble. Captain and crew were equally fun and skilled. We re-routed the trip based on weather, and ended up with average conditions, which in all respects were the best we could hope for at that point. Accommodations were clean, dry, and comfortable and sleeping wasn't an issue. Nitrox fills were $6 (air would have been free), and tanks were topped off promptly after each dive. A tip: skip the wetsuit in favor of a looser-fitting drysuit. Many wetsuits didn't fit by the end of the weekend thanks to the wonderful, plentiful food! read more

We were lobster diving and ken gave us alot of tips on how to catch lobster, he also created a safe environment for us to dive in, I would highly recommend to use Channel Island dive Adventures and I will most definitely be back with them again read more

I've known Ken for over 5 years and in that time I've always knew I could count on a good time and fantastic diving. So, when I saw his trip down the coast on Sunday October 29th it was a no brainer for me. He's the only one I know that does this trip and it's the one I try not to miss. Coast diving can be hit and miss with the weather and this year it was a big time hit. The diving was great with the viz on the first dive at around 50 - 60ft. It mucked up to around 30ft by the end of the day but the sites were fantastic. All three I've never dove before, all within sight of Neptune's Net and the coast highway but too far for a shore dive. That's why I love this trip. The crew on the Peace did an excellent job, they even managed to get a move in without most on the boat knowing it was happening. We finished our meal and looked up and found ourselves at new spot. It was a long but nice day out diving. I'm looking forward to doing this one again. read more

I have used Channel Island Dive Adventures (CIDA) many times in the last several years and I have been blown away with this dive operation. The gentleman who runs it is a very experienced diver and an all around nice guy. One of those guys who just makes you feel good to be around him. He puts together a variety of great trips. While he doesn't own the boats we go out on, he charters the boat, plans the trip, and seems to find interesting things that I wasn't able to find on other trips. Back when I lived in California I did both single day and multi-day trips around the Channel Islands. I had a uniformly great time every time I hit the water with him. Now that I live in the East Coast I'm still able to go diving with CIDA because he puts together trips out here at well. Next up -- North Carolina for a Megalodon Shark Tooth and Wreck Diving trip. His prices are VERY reasonable, and his service is just fantastic. His website has a ton of information, not just about his trips, but about the areas in California where he dives. There's not much I can say about Ken except diving with anyone else at the helm is just not acceptable. I have known Ken going on 4+ years now, dove with him maybe 70+ times, and have been on many, many trips - both locally in Southern California and those more exotic. Ken is the consummate professional going to great lengths to make sure everyone on a CIDA trip is treated to a superb diving experience. Having dove the area for years, he brings an enormous amount of knowledge to all the trips. CIDA trips are for divers - you won't find students or "cattle-car" conditions, but you will find self-minded people who thoroughly love the opportunity to enjoy the ocean. Better still, Ken works behind the scenes with every boat he charters to ensure the customer experience is what the demanding diver expects. We have tremendous boats here in SoCal, and when coupled with CIDA, a day or multi-day trip is even better. CIDA offers both beginner and advanced dive trips, and often to overlooked or sometimes even new, locations. If you don't make it where you plan, not to worry - Ken and the crew will work to find something just as interesting. So yes, I'm a huge CIDA fan but I urge you to find a charter, sigh up and have a fantastic time. You won't regret it! For me, finding CIDA and Ken was one of the best things above diving. I'm always pleased when I find CIDA has a boat trip scheduled on a day that I'm free to go diving - they run a great variety of trips here in SoCal and I can always count on them to be organized and fun! As an experienced diver and underwater photographer, I especially enjoy their advanced trips. They often plan dives to some of the less-visited locations in the area such as coastal sites, wrecks, and the harder-to-reach islands. Their website contains good, detailed info on their dives, and they run trips on various boats and suited for all levels of diver (if a trip is recommended for advanced divers only, it will be clear on the sign-up page). I feel like the SoCal dive community is lucky to have them - they support a variety of dive boats, and often split charters with other groups or clubs. I haven't had a bad day yet on a CIDA trip, and I look forward to going on many more! read more

Another well run trip by CIDA, this time on the Asante. We were hoping to get to Farnsworth but alas, it was overrun by about 10 fishing boats. Instead we dove 3 completely different locations including the Midnight Hour wreck, Blue Caverns and the backside of Bird rock. After hearing great things about diving in the kelp forests of the Channel Islands, I flew down to LA from SF to dive with a friend and experience the islands first hand. As both of us are relatively newly certified and unfamiliar with the dive scene in Ventura, we turned to Yelp to find dive companies we could use during our trip. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience with Ken and CIDA. Not only was Ken extremely helpful leading up to the dive, recommending rental companies and very responsive to our questions, but he accompanied us during our dives to make sure we felt safe and that we had a great time.
