The crew overall was super chill and taking a private charter makes it more personable as well.

Everyone in Santa Barbara and vicinity was booked for a solid month and I needed to get certified within two weeks. Sheri patiently listened to my story and next day (after putting out some desperately-seeking-instructor messages), connected me with a fantastic instructor (Michael Francisco). Located on Catalina Island. LOL! I had not intended to make this extra three-day trip so close to my 2 week vacation, but hey... you do what you gotta do. And it was a truly educational and beautiful experience, which accomplished my goal and that I would not have known was an option had it not been for Sheri.  She also made a great recommendation for a scuba diving vacation location, which my instructor echoed. I went with their idea and was gifted an incredible diving trip. Sheri and my instructor continue to give me pointers about all kinds of things scuba-related and I am very grateful to have literally, stumbled upon such great resources. Thank you for all of your amazingness, Sheri and Michael!

Sheri helped us to find the most incredible sea life! She is detail-oriented in terms of safety - as one would expect an instructor/dive master to be. Sheri is also a really fun person with a wealth of experience, wisdom and a true love of the ocean and its inhabitants. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in some fantastic diving...

Rachel is awesome! Super knowledgeable of the ocean, water, marine life, and history of the area…read more What a rad human being to have guiding the tour. As it turns out, all of the harbor seals, and sealions have names. We befriended one named Steve, he is much better at swimming than I am. He also taught me secret techniques to paddling. This one Pelican named Parry got into a barking match with some sealions, which is a fight he wasn't gonna win, let's be honest. Though I was hoping to see an M-A-N-A-T-E-E ... next time! If you're gonna go down on Haley street, where the dogs are easy and the sun is cheap, you never know just who you'll meet, on Haley. (But hopefully it's Rachel from the Santa Barbara Adventure Company, and you get her kayak tour; shout out!)

We had a fun ferry ride to the islands and even got to slow down to watch a large Sunfish (Mola Mola) snacking on some jellies. I recommend getting in line early to secure the best view seating on the ferry. Our kayak guides, Chuck and Adam, were exceptional--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the entire trip both fun and informative, while ensuring we always felt safe and well cared for. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and warm water, which allowed us to explore all seven sea caves--many of which are inaccessible during high tide or rougher conditions. It made the experience even more special. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 22 years, this was my first time visiting the islands, and it was truly unforgettable. The pristine landscapes, abundant sea life, and even spotting several tiny island foxes while enjoying our picnic lunch, made it an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to do it again--highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and exceptional experience!

Story time... I…read morepulled into the Channel Islands Harbor one day because I had an early dinner reservation at Moqueca. I parked my car near the boat slips and was about to head over when I spy an automatic weapon laying against a trash can. I have called the non emergency police number and the man on the line seemed to have better things going on than to deal with me. He actually requested I pick up the gun to confirm it was a real weapon. There was no way I was going to pick up an automatic weapon in the middle of the harbor, with families around, during the daytime, get my fingerprints all over it and make any kind of judgements. Mind you, the weapon had no orange tip, which I mentioned multiple times to the man I was on the phone with. Eventually I hung up and drove around until I came across a harbor patrol truck. The man (never got his name) came right over and grabbed the gun. It thankfully, wasn't real, it was an Airsoft gun somebody just ditched near the trash after presumably breaking it. The harbor patrol assured me they would destroy and dispose of it. Even an Airsoft gun could do damage if a child had found it and played with it. Some of them are gas powered and shoot high velocity pellets. It was great dealing with them and my only real personal experience with the Channel Islands Harbor Patrol other than various meetings during sailing trips or boat parties which always go smoothly. I have nothing but high praise for them and hope they continue to impress. Cheers!
