He gave us a fair estimate based on the problem description and scheduled a visit immediately. True to his word, he quoted the exact cost when he arrived. During his first visit, Mark was thorough, answered every question, and explained everything clearly. He fixed half the issue on the spot and returned the next day to finish the job. Because the old valve was badly installed and the surrounding "box" cracked when it was removed, Mark went above and beyond. He replaced the whole box and the new valves, a service that would normally cost an extra$200, but he didn't charge us a cent for it. He tested everything before leaving, and when I mentioned our weak‑pressure shower, he instantly diagnosed the cause, explained what caused it, and showed me the issue, and fixed it at no additional cost. I also asked about the slow draining sink, and Mark handed me a tool to remove the debris and showed me how to access the clog. Again, this was free of charge. Mark assured us that Lyons' labor and parts come with a one‑year warranty and that the components used are built to last. In today's world, it's hard to trust someone you don't know, but Mark made us feel completely comfortable and at ease. We're thrilled with the service and will gladly refer Mark and Lyons to anyone needing plumbing or drainage help! We will no longer be looking for another plumber again.

    Beware: Overpriced, Misleading, and Unhelpful…read more I called A&F Plumbing for a $59 service visit to find out why my water heater was not heating -- seemed reasonable. The tech was polite. That's where the positives ended. He relit the pilot light and THEN told me it was $250 just to relight the pilot light -- something most plumbers include in the basic fee. After paying that ridiculous charge, my water still never got hot. He didn't check, wait to see - - just said he relit it. He did make sure he had a sales pitch though. Without fully diagnosing the problem, he jumped straight to recommending a $875 burner assembly or a $5,250 replacement water heater, (complete with estimates) claiming mine was 11 years old, but my house is only 9 years old. Either the math was off, or they were hoping I wouldn't question it. I paid $250 for nothing -- no fix, no follow-up, just out the window, whoever recommended them should be ashamed of themselves. Definitely a bait-and-switch. If you're looking for real solutions and honest pricing, I strongly suggest calling someone else.

    Although they have previously done satisfactory work for me, I had an experience with ME Flow…read moreplumbing this week that makes me say I would not recommend them. My upstairs bathroom sink was draining slowly, almost completely clogged. I've lived here for 30 years and have had that sink snaked out a few times. About two years ago, a different plumbing company charged me around $400 to do it and said that they "went out 30 feet" with the snake. That took care of the problem. When I called ME Flow to schedule service, I asked if a certain plumber was still with them and if I could schedule him, as I had been happy with work he previously did at my home, including much larger jobs than clearing a drain. The scheduler couldn't tell me if that plumber still works for the company. But he said he would "make a note" that I had requested that person and someone would call me if it turned out that I'd be getting a different plumber. No one called, and a different plumber showed up. I offered him a brief description of the job and asked a few questions. He wasn't outright rude but seemed defensive. He told me he's been doing this for 23 years and is "good at his job." I had no reason to doubt that, but I'm the customer and wanted to be able to ask my questions about the process. Before even looking at the sink, the plumber consulted his iPad and quoted me a price of $524 for the drain clean out. That's quite a bit more than I paid in the past, but prices do go up, and I needed it done, so I said OK and gave my electronic signature. I also asked if ME Flow offers a senior discount, and he said, "I can give you 5% off." Better than nothing, right? As far as I know, the drain cleaning was satisfactory. However, as the plumber was finishing, I noticed a very strong chemical smell that ultimately filled my whole house. I later decided to call and ask the plumbing manager what chemical their plumbers use to clean up, as I was concerned about the fumes. The manager got back to me, saying it was not a cleaning product but "something like WD-40" that the plumber had used on the pipe underneath the sink. He said the smell would dissipate, and it has, mostly (with windows open and fans running for hours). The other times I've had that drain cleared (or any plumbing work done in my house), I never experienced a strong, lingering chemical odor. I think the guy must have used a quart of the stuff. Upon finishing the work, the plumber proceeded to figure up my bill on his iPad. First, he said that it would be $573. I had my card in my hand, ready to pay, but I said, "No, you told me $524, plus my 5% senior discount." He then said, "Yes, the $573 includes the $49 service charge, but I will take that off." (This was what I'd been told when I scheduled the appointment, that the standard $49 service charge would be rolled into the cost of the job if we went ahead with the work.) So he subtracted that and gave me the 5% senior discount, and I paid him $498. Later, I received an emailed invoice from ME Flow, showing a total cost for the job of $573, and saying that I owe them $75. Clearly, the plumber had put the billing information into his iPad incorrectly. I called and a lady there subtracted the $49 service fee. When I mentioned that this morning I had googled "Does ME Flow give a senior discount" and saw that they advertise a 10% (not 5%) discount, she agreed to give me the additional 5% off - meaning, I do not owe them any money and will, in fact, get a credit of around $21. But wait, there's more... The invoice identified the job as "clearing a floor drain or floor sink." I decided to look that up. Google says a floor sink is different from a standard residential bathroom sink, and that clearing out a floor drain or floor sink is usually more expensive than clearing a regular sink drain. So I asked the lady to verify that I was charged for the right job. (She said the plumber had included a picture of a shower drain with his report on my job. I assured her that he did not work on my shower or any "floor drain" or "floor sink.") When she called back, she said their charge for clearing a standard bathroom sink is actually $745! (What?!) She tried to tell me that the plumber might have intentionally coded the job wrong to give me a lower price. Does any of that sound right to you? All I can say is that I would never pay $745 to have a clogged bathroom sink drain snaked out; the plumber was here for about 20 minutes, so that would be $2,235/hour. Of course, they didn't try to charge me the $745. I will get the original price, including the extra $21 credited back for the corrected senior discount. The final price was OK, but the process was extremely frustrating and unfortunately left me feeling that the company cannot be trusted to get things right. :-( Time to find another plumber.
