We have been using them for about 15 years. They are consistently reliable, genuinely friendly, and attentive to detail. We recently had a complicated air handler replacement installation in a tight space. It took them three days of clearly very hard work, and they did half-ass anything to speed the fixed-price job. I know I can count on that new system for the life of my house. They are expensive, so if you are on a budget look elsewhere. But if you can afford them they are worth the price. Not only did they do a superior job, they took great pains to use face masks, disinfectants, and other protective measures to ensure she remained self-quarantined during the COVID-19 pandemic, so she could have it done and not go without hot water! They replaced brittle old cpvc piping with all copper and redesigned the system for much easier access to the shut off and mixing valves. They even thought to re-position the tank to give easier access to the A/C unit nearby, so that if the A/C ever needed service, we wouldn't need to move the tank to get to it (which was how it was before). They came on a Friday and charged me $350 and could not fixed my ac and told me I needed new one and said they would give me a quote by the end of the week. Later that day they called me and told me I need a new electrical panel without even looking at it. Two weeks later they did not follow up with a quote on getting a new one. This is the third time I've used this company and am extremely pleased. My water heater died yesterday morning and a tech came by in the afternoon to give me a quote. Stay away from this company! $300 bill for a 20-minute visit and a $4 part. My fan stopped working on my AC unit, so I had Twintech come out to repair. It was a 20 minute fix, which left me surprised when I got the $300 bill. After a 2-minute google search, I noticed that the $175 part they charged me for (capacitor) is $4 online and at Home Depot. I was livid and had them come back out to take it out of my unit and refund me the $175, which they did. I understand their should be a slight mark-up with their equipment, but within reason. I went to Home Depot, bought the part - took me 15 minutes and saved me $171. read more

I've used two other companies for my HVAC needs for the last 35 years. But based on my recent experience, I will only use TwinTech moving forward. When other companies couldn't come out to my house for days after my AC broke down during a recent heat wave, TwinTech came within a few hours. The assessed my need and had a proposal to me the next day. Their installation and post-service support was excellent, bar none. I can't be more appreciative about they supported me. Alexandria VA Twin Tech came out within a day but they charge me $350 to tell me my AC needed to be replace and they would give me a quote by the end of the week and that I should get a window unit because they were busy. Three weeks later they still have not given me a quote. They did however call me to tell me I should get a new electrical unit. I actually found a former employee who install a new AC for a great rate. So glad I did not wait on them because I would still be waiting. read more

My AC died and I called Twintech at 2 PM. By 4 PM I had a technician at my house and explained the issue. Based on the explanation he began troubleshooting and found the issue within minutes. He had all the parts necessary in the van to fix the problem. He educated me along the way so I knew exactly what he was doing and by 5 PM the AC was up and running! A couple weeks after my unfavorable review, Eric (owner) of TwinTech called and apologized for not getting back to me and admitted they had "dropped the ball" and were very sorry. He didn't ask me to reconsider, he just wanted to say they were sorry. Since Eric seemed sincere I told him I'd give them another chance, set up an appt. and Eric came over on time, was very thorough, knowledgeable and gave me a written estimate for new hot water heater and furnace, etc. I haven't had the work done yet and will comment once that is complete. In sum, they are the best company of any kind (electronics, home services, furniture, etc) I have ever used. We bought our first home last year and it came with a lot of issues we did not know about and so I have become very familiar with the entire array of contractors, from the excellent to the terrible and even mediocre. Of the 24 contractors I have used for home services, without any doubt, Twintech is the most knowledgeable and professional in their field of Heating/cooling/water heater maintenance, repair and installation. I first heard of Twintech from the local neighborhood email list. By nature, I am skeptical of one source reviews but in this case, Twintech was even better than the glowing reviews I read. I cannot speak positively enough about John, Eric, Wayne and Jeremy. In June, both of my heat pumps began having problems. This was at 6:10 pm on a very hot late June day. I called Twintech and they dispatched John, one of the owners, to my house. He arrived very quickly, probably in less than 20 minutes from my call, and due to his professionalism and experience, quickly diagnosed the problem (a sweating air handler) and got me up and running. He checked the pressure reading on both and recharged one of them with more Freon. In addition, he was very calm and nice and explained everything he was doing. This is remarkable because many home contractors I have dealt with speak condescendingly and dislike it when asking too many questions. Not Twintech-in fact, they take pride in explaining complex things in an easy to understand way. Because John and the office staff were so great , I signed up for a maintenance agreement with Twintech. This was a great decision because when they came to do my maintenance, they uncovered low pressure readings in my other heat pump. If I had not known about this problem, it could have resulted in a far more expensive repair. On the second maintenance, I found that one of the heat pumps, the one that was low on Freon, was continuing to leak refrigerant. I had a complex setup with a high efficiency waste water heat capture device that was contributing to these problems. Twintech explained the complex situation in very fine detail and gave me options. I could spend money trying to repair it or I could look into replacement. Given that I had already spent $500 on this one heat pump and it was 13 years old, based on my experience with TwinTech, I decided to replace the unit. In addition, they advised me that I should consider replacing my 13 year old water heater as well. The best thing about TwinTech is that they do not pressure you or employ hard sell techniques-they are honest and want to give you the best service and advice possible to save you money in the long run. After all, a flooded floor due to a ruptured water heater will be at least $10,000 compared to the small cost of a new water heater. TwinTech sells only the best equipment-Trane HVAC and AO Smith Hot Water Heaters. When the installation date arrived, Eric, Wayne, and Jeremy showed up early, and as always, cheerful and happy to be there. They really do love their jobs! They installed all the equipment in the most professional manner and perfect work style I have ever seen! They were very careful and cleaned up after they were done. In short, whether it is maintenance, repair, or new installation, you can count on TwinTech to give you excellent and honest advice and perform the work quickly and professionally. Don't waste time calling other HVAC companies, just call TwinTech and your worries will literally evaporate! I do not work at TwinTech! I am writing this long review as TwinTech deserves extraordinary credit for their professionalism and work. TwinTech gets my vote for an excellent service company that you can depend upon. I purchased a new HVAC system from them last December and any concerns I have had since then were readily addressed. Yesterday my furnace would not heat and I contacted my service POC(Kevin) who responded quickly and made some suggestions over the phone (on a Sunday). After being away from my home all day I came back to a very cold house around 5 pm. I called the office assuming I would leave a message for a service call on Monday. Eric the owner answered, talked to me about my situation, and in 15 min. was at my house, identified the problem and fixed it...on a Sunday! The original reconfiguration and installation of my units was very well done and made everything alot more efficient in my utility area. I cannot commend them enough. These guys are good. My heat went out over night in the middle of December. I called at 8:30 am and had an appointment set for 1 pm. John called at 1:10 to say he was outside. He was very efficient and knowledgeable, even answering questions I had related to some planned renovation. If you live in the Colonial Village development these are defiantly the people to go with, he knew just how the house was set-up and was very familiar with heating unit. Down side - Not the cheapest place I checked out. The cheapest place I contacted was $59 to come out, but they either didn't do condos or didn't work in Arlington. For the money I think they do a good job. When John came out he had all the equipment and parts he needed to fix the problem right-away. read more

I used them last year and my experience was not good. I almost had to beg them to get an official estimate before they started work. The guy who came out to my place made it seem like the company would be doing all the work, but they used outside contractors. Then they broke something in my house and didn't tell me. It was obvious that one of the people they sent out to do the work had very little experience. They put the heat/ac pump in the hvac closet in front of my electrical outlet where my cable plugged in! When I pointed this out to them, they acted like I was being annoying. I would never use them again. read more

Twin Tech gave us a quote for replacing our HVAC system with a 16 SEER (energy efficiency rating) unit, which we used to compare to other companies. We decided to go with Twin Tech, but they installed a lower-grade 14 SEER unit without telling us. When we called them the next day to ask about it, they apologized but wouldn't credit us the difference. read more

Stay away if you need to have your A/C charged with R-22 refrigerant. Their pricing structure is to charge $450 when they charge your system with anywhere between 1 - 3 lbs of R-22. I got the excuse the R-22 is expensive, but that doesn't explain why they charge $450 no matter if you get 1 lb or 3 lbs. Oh yeah, and also R-22 is currently selling for $25/lb. read more

They fixed everything the previous owners had done wrong. They are now replacing our furnace. Unfortunately had a recent bad experience w/ this company and am disappointed by lack of response. We had a tech visit for the second time in a few months regarding an issue with our Nest thermostat (when switched to A/C it would blast hot air). The tech inspected thermostat and outside unit and diagnosed a broken compressor and quoted me over $1,700 for repairs and charged me standard $120 fee for 20 minutes of his time. I normally trust their expertise and would not seek a second opinion as I believe businesses are fair and trustworthy, but I reached out to the builder of our house (since the house is only two years old) and thought they might take care of repairs if a major piece of equipment failed in such a short time. Builder sent their own company out who said they could replace compressor for half the price, but upon inspection they found the compressor was in working condition. Issue was (as I suspected) a faulty Nest thermostat. Once that was replaced the A/C worked beautifully. I was out another $125 for the 2 hours it took the new company to re-diagnose and fix the problem. I called Twin Tech to discuss this situation and ask for my $120 fee returned to me since, had I not sought a second opinion, I would have paid them another almost $2,000 for a problem that did not even exist. I was told the fee was non-refundable regardless of this shady diagnosis. When I persisted they took my name and number to call me back to discuss. This was a week ago. My check has been cashed and I still have not heard back from the company. I do not take pleasure in writing a poor review as I am sure there are many/mostly honest people working at this company. However, my situation seems egregious and the fact that the company was unwilling to refund my money to make it right, or even give me the courtesy of a return phone call, leaves me feeling warranted in posting a public complaint. It's unfortunate that they decided not to handle this situation appropriately and instead have accepted the loss of a customer and the loss of future referrals. read more
