Very disappointed with my rental experience! The apartment we rented was filthy when my daughter moved in. We had it professionally cleaned prior to moving in.....paid for it ourselves. Upon move out we had the apartment professionally cleaned. They took $150.00 out of security deposit to clean the apartment! When I called to ask for a detailed receipt for the cleaning charges I was directed to their cleaning service as they couldn't provide any details! Please be aware! There are other rentals companies in Laramie that do have excellent customer service and take care of their properties and the renters they serve! read more

Real Estate 1 is the maintenance and snow/leaf removal people for my condo building. The HOA has them under contract to be and do those things. This review is written on January 3rd. We have one entire sidewalk filled with leaves. And it's only there and not anywhere else solely because of the wind blowing them into the street and into the property line shrubbery, which makes it ugly and VERY cluttered. RE1 has not removed a single leaf from Fall. Now that it is well into Winter, the leaves on the East sidewalk collect snow. The snow was not removed for the first 3 times it snowed here this year. On the 4th big snow, I complained to the President of my HOA and she got them to send a guy out. I found one shovel mark in the leaves where their employee found out there were leaves under the snow, and proceeded to make our 6' sidewalk/bike parking area into a narrow 20" path that fills with ice because anytime it gets above freezing, the snow from the leaves just melts but then freezes at night. Our 4' sidewalks in the front are fully shovelled, so the employee has know they are doing a poor job. Our carpets have not been vacuumed in some time. The huge snow on Christmas was not shovelled until January 2nd, and no salt or other de-icer was put down so all the melted snow dropping from our roof caused all of our sidewalks to freeze in most areas. I'm 24 and very able bodied, and even I take twice as long to get from the front to the back or I'd fall half the time. HOA's, DO NOT CONTRACT RE1! Don't even hire them for a job. The main problem with Real Estate 1 is that they REALLY do not care about their tenants, in fact, I think they actually disdain them. The tenants are not actual people to the owners, managers, or regular employees of RE1, they are simply walking rent checks. RE1 has control over a lot of properties throughout Laramie, which means that if a person wants to rent an apartment in this town, there is a solid chance that they will have to deal with these people. I do not like to give one-star ratings to businesses unless it is truly deserved. Here is a brief listing of the problems or issues with RE1: 1) They are unresponsive to maintenance requests, both emergency and routine. Examples: a.) The hallway outside of my apartment began to flood late one night from a drain problem. I left a message on the emergency maintenance voicemail, and got a call back from the maintenance man telling me he would not be coming out until the following day to fix the problem, and yet the hallway continue to flood throughout the night. b.) Routine calls included maintenance on my broken bathroom sink (it had almost no water pressure and did not have hot water...ever); no one was ever sent out. I did not have time to chase RE1 maintenance workers down, so the the sink and other problems were never fixed. 2) An incredibly unfriendly office staff. The office workers literally go out of their way to make you feel like you are a nuisance to them, even if you are just dropping off your rent payment. They seem to forget that the tenants are the people who pay their salaries. I have rented from plenty of places before moving to Laramie and I have never been treated so consistently rudely by a property management company's employees. 3) My apartment was filthy when I moved into it. RE1 should fire, or cease hiring whomever it is that cleans their apartments before new tenants move in. My floors had not been swept, the tile floor in the kitchen was grimy and had not been mopped, and there were fresh food stains on the kitchen counters; the bathroom was also in poor shape. I brought this to the attention of RE1 and they took no action. End result, I had to completely clean my apartment before I could move into it. I bet if your rent is late, though, they will make sure to take action then. 4) They only take money orders and will not take personal checks for rent payments. This point is slightly nit-picky, but I think it really speaks to how RE1 operates. It is not my fault that the majority of their renters might be young college kids who bounce checks. For someone like me who does not have a branch of their bank in Laramie, this was a royal pain to deal with every month; it meant dragging myself out to Wal-Mart to buy a money order to pay my rent. Until someone actually bounces a rent check, I think personal checks should be taken. I theorize that RE1 operates in such a subpar manner simply because it can. The company owns or manges enough properties in town to the point that there is no significant competition for them to have to step up their game. There is housing shortage in Laramie and they have got the town by the short and curlies. read more

AVOID!!!!!! SLUM LORD! This is NOT a friendly local real estate company. This company takes advantage of college students and treats them like dirt. As soon as you read through their lease and you will agree. I paid $665 for a one bedroom apartment near Wal-Mart. They could not be bothered to clean the trash, tumble weeds and dirt that blew into the walking/stairs area of the lower apartments. They never fixed my doorbell in the 2 years I lived there even regardless of the times I called. They didn't install my fire extinguisher until 6 of living there. I stayed at my apartment for 2 years, without ever having a complaint against me or late rent. When I asked if I could have a 6 month lease instead of year long lease, they refused. The woman that runs the office, Angie, is the most rude, unhelpful person in Laramie. Good luck asking her for anything. Don't ask the people in the office to send you an email because "They do not have access to email". Regardless of what your lease move-out day says, you have to be officially out of the apartment the day you have the carpet professionally cleaned. STILL you have to pay the utilities until your original lease date. I learned the hard way. AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

Very disappointed with this real estate agency. They are greedy and difficult to work with. They never answered their phones and took over two months to send us our deposit. Once we did receive our deposit, we did not receive it back in full. Mind you, we are two very clean girls and we took many hours out of or day to ensure we left the apartment spotless. (Total of $80 was left out) We left it cleaner than it was when we moved into it. Maintenance was slow at responding to problems. Other friends renting from real estate 1 had found black mold growing in the apartment and instead of taking precautionary measures to get rid of it, they covered it with tile claiming that it was only dirt. I would NOT rent from real estate 1 again. Do yourself a favor and go with another company. read more

First time renter, awful first experience. The price our apartment was listed at is not the price we ended up paying: upon our lease signing appointment, they informed us that they would charge an extra $100 since we had 3 tenants instead of 2, and my boyfriend and I aren't married. They gave us no prior warning to this. Functional appliances were not provided, as most appliances were improperly installed (confirmed by appliance team), which led to Real Estate 1 being required to replace the appliances. They took their time to do so. They never gave us even 24 hours to respond to requests, such as whether or not we'd renew our lease. The first time they requested to show our apartment during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was 3 months out from the end of our lease, and they again gave us less than 24 hours to respond to the request. They then contacted 3 more times to ask for viewings. On the third request, we missed the call and forgot to get back with them, so they showed up without further warning and persisted to show the place. They would not wear masks, even though you had to wear one to enter their building. When Real Estate 1 FINALLY agreed upon video tours for our apartment, they failed to communicate with the entire household. They put the responsibility of contacting potential renters (to then schedule video tours) completely on our shoulders. Then, they called me weeks after our first video tour, claiming to have been contacting my roommate for video tours for a couple of weeks. There was no record of them calling or leaving voice-mails on any of our phones. Last but not least, we scheduled our check-out at noon the day of the end of our lease, and they came before 9am (by the way, the lease stated that check-out would be at noon the day of the end of lease). All in all, 0 stars, 0/10, do NOT recommend. read more

Nice enough. But very unprofessional. They do not provide receipts to all renters, inexplicably. This should be set up automatically. It would be trivial to do with various software. They also don't have a list of the amenities, features, etc of their rentals so you have to just go look at them all to see which will work for you. I used this company for two years. Half that time my apartment was freezing and they wouldn't fix the issue. They were always incredibly rude and horrible. Unfortunately they have somewhat of monopoly in Laramie. They are the absolute opposite of what business in Wyoming is about. Avoid these scum bags if you can. read more

I was in a tough spot after being displaced due to domestic violence. I was unemployed and trying to go back to school, so my mother was willing to help me by paying my rent until I found a source of income. Apparently, real estate one was unable or unwilling to understand this concept. I was denied service due to financial concerns, though they told me it was because they didn't like my personality. If you can avoid renting from them, do. The staff was also generally unhelpful in the few interactions I had with them. read more

I lived in the apartments off of Downey. The apartment itself is cozy for the most part, there's a comfortable amount of room in the bedroom, living room and bathroom for someone living by themselves or for a couple. If you need kitchen space look elsewhere as there isn't much room to do anything. The fridge and oven should have been left in the 70s. Just based on the price and the apartment I would have given the place three stars. There are two reasons why I give it only one. The first; I've had to deal with the managers coming into the apartment unannounced multiple times while I was not around. Not once did they give a prior notice or even a courtesy phone call to ask or notify their intent to enter. The second and biggest reason why you should look elsewhere; THE PLACE IS INFESTED WITH COCKROACHES. When I first noticed the insect infestation, it was prior to the onset of winter. Wen I complained, it took close to 2 months before they took any sort of action. I personally went out and purchased spray and traps which allieved the situation. The building manager even assisted with a few more traps, but it wasn't until December by the time they had a professional come and spray, which was all they did. I'm not an expert on insects but I've got a fairly good sense to know that these insects will live in the walls and ground of a building, and that in the cold months they will recede into a kind of hibernation, so spraying only took care of of the lazy roaches who didn't get underground in time for winter. Until they fumigate the entire building they will not fix this problem, once spring, summer and warmer temps return, so will the bugs and potential health risk. PASS ON THESE APARTMENTS read more

To start, I wish I could rate them lower than a 1 star because that is too generous for them. When I first moved into 215 S 3rd St I knew it was a mistake right away. There were 0 repairs done to my apartment (I have photo evidence), there was food in the sink from the last renter, and it has had 0 updates and they are way overdue. The building was an old hotel and there seems to be little to no changes made in this complex. When I first moved in I asked for them to change my power outlets so that I could actually plug my computer and other electronics in and it took them 4 months. Now my new problem is they gave me the wrong mailbox when I first moved in and no one knew they did. Now that someone moved into the apartment that correlates to my old mail box I haven't seen my mail in a month now and they aren't even trying to help me get my mail back. These are THE worst realtors ever but just have a strong foothold in Laramie and they will give no cares in the world for you. They just want their rent and that's it. Stay away. read more

Real Estate 1 was fine until the owner of the house wanted to put the house up for sale. Wyoming state law says Real Estate agents need two days advance warning to show the house and come at reasonable times. We had people coming over to show the house at the same day, and during times like dinner and the weekend. We complained and Real Estate one sent up a letter saying we had to. It's illegal, but they don't care. I wouldn't trust a company like this. read more

I rented from Real Estate One, they said they cleaned the home before I moved into the home, which was not done. I took pictures before and after and they still kept more than half of my deposit. The home was fully furnished and they called me stating I left the furniture! I am now forced to have to get and lawyer to start proceedings against them. My best advice to anyone is NOT to rent from them as they do not care about the tenants at all. I just wished I had read some of the reviews before renting. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! AVOID AT ALL POSSIBLE!!! This company does not even deserve one star for their rating. They are the WORST company I have ever had to deal with. My roommates and I have always paid our rent on time and we have kept our place in excellent shape. However, there has been SEVERAL occasions that they have called YELLING at us that our rent was late or was short and that we owed the $150 late fee! We would call back and politely ask how we are short, and what we needed to pay. ON EVERY SINGLE OCCASION this happened we would spend a minimum of 30 minutes on the phone with them discussing our lease and our rent, and they would figure out that we DID NOT short change them, and in fact they made a mathematical error. They would not apologize for THEIR MISTAKE, and then act annoyed that we took the time to fix the problem. There was even a time they claimed we were 86 cents short and they demanded a money order right away for that small amount. Turns out they made the mistake and we were not short at all. However they made us drop everything we were doing (work, school, ect.) to fix their mistake and again, they DID NOT EVEN SAY SORRY FOR WHAT THEY DID. They treat their residences horribly, and will not go out of their way to help us. They are ALWAYS rude on the phone, and never helpful. I am a very calm and patient person, and it does not matter how nice I am on the phone, they always yell and are incredibly rude. Whenever I hear of anyone looking for a place to stay I warn them about Real Estate 1 and tell them to avoid them at all costs. Real Estate One is known around town to be pretty shady and overall unfriendly. So, my roommates and I decided not to rent from them. In May, we signed a lease with a really nice real estate company and were really excited for our new place. However, come July, we found out that the owner of the property had--without any notice--changed real estate companies to (you guessed it!) RE1. They have been awful from the beginning. We spent over a week deep cleaning the place once we got the keys because their "cleaning crew" did such a terrible job. Literally there was dog and cat feces all over the house. We had wash, steam, and paint the walls with KILZ (highly recommend) because the smell had soaked into the walls so badly. Our back door wasn't attached to the frame--it was just sitting against the garage door. Our down stairs toilet didn't flush, we had no water pressure anywhere, and we still have several broken windows that are covered in duct tape. This is just the tip of the ice berg of things that RE1 would not take care of. The staff is constantly out-right rude and not at all helpful. I would rather live in a box in the Laramie dump than deal with this "business". Do yourself a favor and DO NOT rent from these slum lords. All of the other reviews for this business are spot on. Seriously the worst place in Laramie by far. read more
