*Disclaimer* this isn't a review on the entire shop just the one guy. If I could give a zero star rating, I would. I usually book my haircuts but I slipped up and my barber was booked, I was in a pinch so I went to check out this barbershop. I don't like complaining, so to keep it short. I sat in this guys chair for an hour and he only cut my side burns. He tried to fight me, Because I asked him if he was okay and after sitting there for an hour told him I need to get going and I basically paid the minimum and left. 10/10 never again read more

It was a first for my son and myself. As a birthday present, I treated my 17 year old to a hot towel shave. This was a great choice for some father and son time. Vidal did an excellent job and was terrific to work with. How can you go wrong at a place that has a Frenchie as part of the staff. Highly recommended. read more

Walked by here a few times and wanted to check it out. Needed a cut today so figured I'd see check it out finally. I texted Oscar (found his number on here 760-670-9784) to see if they were open since today is the day after Thanksgiving. He replied back right away with a few appt options. I showed up and hey we're busy with every chair full. Oscar was waiting for me and called me over. He was very friendly and you could tell he knows what he's doing. He takes his time with a close attention to detail. He uses a straight razor to trim the edges. He even finishes up the cut with a hot towel and a little massage thingy. The shop has a totally cool chill classic barbershop atmosphere. They have a few TVs going as well so you have something to watch while getting your haircut. I'm glad I checked Cali Stilo out because I've found my new home for haircuts. They also offer shaves as well. I think I'll get one of those next time I'm in. Shoot Oscar a text and give him a shot. I've been to dozens of barber shops and known barbers at each, but when you find "the one" you follow the one. My boy Carlos "Exit" Landeros recently came back home to Ghost Town and has found a home here at Cali Stilo. If you read my reviews for 2 Roses and El Catrin you'll see major differences in the location, but the quality of work is rock steady. Heck even when I go to his moms house for a cut. Some things you will notice about Cali Stilo is that it's not some head barber managing barbers (who inherently are solo artists and often solo business ventures). So there isn't all that politics. The owner doesn't cut and is from a completely different industry. He lets each barber set up and rent their own chairs and do their own thing. What's great is to see hungry, young and eager barbers learn from each other. Each has their own following so it's nice to see the crowds come as well as walk ins get squared away. Ricky, Oscar, Mario, Carlos, all good guys. Funny thing is they all love movies, so there will most likely be one playing in the background. This place is a bit like a group of outside consultants in that way, each not worrying about hours or business, just cutting hair. What you will notice is they aren't some cosmo filled studio. They keep normal hours 9-6 (though not as late as the military pushing one's in downtown Oside). It's small, it's hard to find, the waiting bench is a little uncomfortable, but I come for specificity. The décor is light half pub, half auto shop and that's about where the owners influence ends. What can get annoying is when patrons bring far too many family who aren't getting cut. IE when someone brings their son, their nephew, sister, aunt and their kids for his 1 haircut. 1st there isn't space, it's not daycare and when I'm in the chair I'm gonna talk about what I'm gonna talk about, so whoever is underaged is gonna learn a few things. This isn't like the barbershop movies. Prices are a tad high, but they carry a decent selection of hair product. Expect a straight razor clean up, hot towel, lathering and my boy will even hit you with the massage gun. This is how you get back to your roots and just cut hair. There is no ATM and are cash only, but there is a Chase bank nearby. Street parking only. I'm still looking for my mechanic and my cobbler because I've found my barber. read more

I am writing this review for Oscar at Cali Stilo. I moved here 6 months ago from San Diego and let me tell you it is nearly impossible to get a good fade in Escondido! I have been through a lot of places trying to get a good cut and even as the price was cheap the barbers suck! I came to Cali Stilo and waited forever because I did not know it was appointment based. After an hour or waiting a guy said he would be able to get me done. I was anticipating a bad cut, long wait time and crappy service however the guy took his time, witch made me understand the whole appointment only rule. They take pride in there work!!! I was very happy with the service and the time he took to make my fade come out clean and straight. Cali Stilo is now my new spot. As I am in sales and appearance is a big part of what I do. I recommend Oscar to anybody in Escondido looking for a great modern cut. read more

I was walking by this place and stopped to ask if they did strait edge, they said yes and if I wanted to wait a few minutes they could fit me in . I would recommend this place to everyone. I use Mr. Carlos Landeros for his high standards in customer service and grrrreat cuts. I notice the cuts from the other barbers are extremely talented too. I love the appointments only service. I like the fact that I can just walk into my appointment and sit in the chair. Other good places in town Ive had waited up to 2 hours just to get a good cut. Ever since I moved from Jersey to SD about 7 years ago,VIDAL has been cutting my hair. He gave me the east coast/city style cut that i was looking for. A brooklyn to be exact. He listens and all his cuts are up to par. I currently live in the South Bay and I drive all the way to Esco to get a haircut. Which is almost a 45 min drive but he's that good. The staff was chill and friendly and Oscar, as well as with all the other barbers, will give their utmost precision and time on your cut. Finding a new barber is always hard. Especially when you move somewhere new and you don't know anyone that can give you advice. This shop is very unassuming, you can walk by it, and not even know its there. Lucky for me, I did see it, and walked in. Place was way busy, it is by appointment only, but I did not know that. Mario was super cool and let me know he could work me in later. Several haircuts later, I have been making appointments with Mario for my haircuts. Seems like they are upgrading the decor which is nice. Seems popular with locals. But the main reason I go is for the experience. Came down to Escondido for a friends wedding and wanted to check out a local barber shop for a quick cut. Being a barber myself I know what I was looking for, cool, calm talented barbers. This place did not disappoint. I believe it was Mario who cut my hair. Introduced himself to me before I sat in the chair and had a great conversation for the duration of the cut.
