Also a hole in wall, which they repaired soon after. Most concerning was what happened the morning of the move. Before the movers arrived, I received a revised signed contract that was NOT signed by me. The contract was for an additional mover and significantly increased cost. Bait and switch at its finest.

It has taken me a whole year to write this review as the pain and suffering caused by Expert Movers…read moreand Storage is still not something I have emotionally gotten over. I was also waiting for insurance to settle for all the broken pieces of furniture, which just happened. Part 1: The Piano It seems silly to feel so emotionally attached to a piano, but I am a classical pianist and I had spent years finding the piano of my literal dreams. It was (yes, "was") a limited 100th year, special edition Steinway upright piano. It was in perfect condition and had been moved only once in it's life. It's value was, essentially, priceless. We interviewed a lot of moving companies and explained we had a piano that needed moving down one flight of stairs. Most companies said they couldn't do it or we didn't feel comfortable enough hiring them. We were assured, time and time again, that Expert Movers and Storage knew what they were doing and that they "did this all the time". They did not. The piano was slid on it's side, on cardboard, down the stairs. The movers, despite being told not to do this, also grabbed the legs of the piano and viciously ripped it off the piano. In doing so, the people behind the piano almost fell backwards and killed themselves but my husband noticed last second what was going on and jumped in to grab the piano. I was mortified. Part 2: Integrity + Fraud We had signed a $50,000 insurance coverage document to cover a fraction of the repair of the piano (usually around $80,000 to repair, if totaled) in the very off-chance the piano was scratched or dinged. (I genuinely didn't even consider the option of them totaling the piano) During the move, quite a few of our very expensive furniture items were broken, scratched, or dinged. Basically, the items survived the move if we packed the box, otherwise anything packed or wrapped by them got damaged. During the unload, the piano leg was nowhere to be found. The owner, Leo, told us we were lying about missing the leg and/or that the leg was "hiding" in a box. (It wasn't) There was also one of our child's wooden toy storage boxes unloaded that had fast food bags shoved in it and was, disgustingly, filled with thousands of maggots. The box had to be thrown away. He had every single one of the movers that did the load-on talk to us and they told us they were sure the piano leg was on the truck when it left our house. We agreed! Yet, somehow, during the travel from CT to TN, the leg was lost. The owner offered to have "one of his guys" make a new leg for our piano. While this was nice, it just isn't an option for a piano of this caliber. It has to be sent off to Steinway in NYC for a full repair. Leo also told us he would fix the piano out of pocket without getting insurance involved... until we told him what the quote was from Steinway to repair it. We then, obviously, had to file an insurance claim (against Leo's wishes). Between dented and shattered tables, broken tvs, dented dressers, countless other broken things, and a now-totaled piano, the value of the insurance claim was well over the 50k in coverage, but we were going to take it like champs, not complain once, and eat the difference. Leo then sent us a "digitally signed" copy of our coverage. It was "signed" by my husband for $25,000 in insurance coverage. Unfortunately it was a forged document (I booked the move in my name, not my husbands) and not even signed the way my husband signs his name. We were confused. A look at the pdf creation date stated it was for the day we requested it. My husband had not "signed" a digital document that day with the back-date of our move. We decided not to pursue legal action, but did report them and the fraudulent document to their insurance company. The insurance company came to the same conclusion as us and gave us the $50,000 in coverage. Part 3: Conclusion We got a check from the insurance company. I wish I could say "all is well" but it is not. I am emotionally destroyed. Our various near-mint vintage items are now damaged, the piano is still totaled and will likely never be repaired, our TV no longer works right, and we have been trying to replace what we could replace with the money from insurance... but most of our stuff is irreplaceable. Overall, going with Expert Movers and Storage was the single biggest mistake and regret of my life. I will cry over my Steinway piano for a very long time. It would have been passed down to my children but instead will likely be hauled away for firewood as we cannot pay the difference to get it repaired.

We could not have been happier with this experience!! From the detailed quote provided by Steve, who was quick to respond to questions, to the actual day of the move, everything went...well, smooth is the best word! The quote was completely accurate, nothing above what we expected was charged, even though we ended up having more to move than expected, which took a bit longer, but they stood by their quoted hourly rate. As for the move itself, I cannot say enough about the efficiency, professionalism and respectfulness of Jonathan, Edwin and Brandon. They made a great team, and they made a stressful and difficult process much easier for us. I highly recommend Smooth Move!! Service: Local move

If you're thinking of trusting Smooth Move with your belongings, don't. What they call a "storage…read morefacility" is nothing more than a filthy, gutted office floor masquerading as legitimate space. No storage cubes, no organization--just a disgraceful setup that looks like it was abandoned years ago. Almost $1,200 , and from the very first pickup (less than a two‑minute drive, with items already packed), the nightmare began. The contents were tied to an eviction, and the rightful owner desperately needed access to essentials--credit card, cash, and medicine. Smooth Move held those items hostage for over a week, forcing needless suffering just to retrieve basic necessities. And as if the humiliation of their "facility" wasn't enough, they capped it off by overbilling my credit card just under $200. That's not just incompetence--it's exploitation. Smooth Move isn't a storage company. It's a scam dressed up as service, a disgusting office space pretending to be legitimate. Save yourself the agony: avoid them at all costs.

I called the day before we needed to move it, and got lucky that they had a cancelation and could squeeze us in with 1 days notice. The unit was heavy and awkward and had to go down some steep stairs into a basement. The movers handled the job professionally and got the machine into the basement with no damage to the machine, the house, or themselves. That was quite an accomplishment!!! If I had one concern about All My Sons it's their failure to clearly communicate pricing and liability limitations. I was told that their minimum charge is 2 hours. It's actually 2 hours plus travel time. And, I wasn't told that their liability limitation is 60 cents per pound. That would have come out to $240 for a $1500 appliance -- definitely not enough to replace the appliance if something had happened. I might not have hired All My Sons if I'd seen this. We got lucky.

They scheduled a zoom/facetime walk-thru of my apartment to see what I needed and to give me a better quote. I had started packing already and got all my own boxes so it was easy to see what I had left. What I really liked was the 'no BS' hidden fees. It was one price that wouldn't change, no matter the hours or added last minute box. Of course my move was scheduled and it had to snow. Thankfully this didn't stop them. 4 guys showed up right on time (during a snow storm on a friday morning rush hour in the city). They walked thru and got a game plan, then brought up all the blankets and plastic wrap and got to work. TVs were dismounted and put in boxes, mattresses were put in boxes as well. The amount of blankets they used to wrap my furniture made me so happy. While they took their time, they were still hustling - running from the truck to the apartment. Once we got to my new place, they covered my stairs with runners and wore plastic booties to ensure my floors weren't messed up. I wish I had bought the wall mount for my TVs for my new place, because they offered to set me up. The only thing I was disappointed about was that my couch didn't fit thru the garage entry so it was left in the garage. I wish they had tried thru the front door but they were adamant that it still wouldn't fit. After 7 hours, I wasn't going to push them. Regardless, would 100% recommend Veterans Movers and also hope Roadway doesn't ruin this small-business. I wish I could remember the 4 guys that helped me move to give them a shoutout! Thx!!!

After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with. This was hands down the easiest move I've ever had. If you are debating which moving company to use, this is your sign. Go with them.
