I've moved a lot and, like most people, have had some pretty bad experiences with movers. Based on good reviews, I chose to go with Start Moving. It ended up being a great decision. Brief details: a 2 bedroom apartment to a single family home, during the heights of the Covid-19 pandemic (May 2020). Highlights: -Hans, the owner, took a very personal stake in the move. He personally facetimed me prior to the move, in order to provide me with an estimate. His estimate for the time required ended up being right on, to within 20 minutes. -The quote was very fair -Hans personally dropped off boxes and supplies for the move, and even lent us some equipment like tape dispensers. -On the day of the move, the team apologized for showing up at 8:33am for an 8:30 start time. Shows what kind of a tight ship they run. On time, professional, courteous. -In all interactions, Hans and the other members of the team were wearing masks and maintaining appropriate distances -They were careful and EFFICIENT. They worked hard all day and cared about getting things done right. Total machines -Good trouble shooting for tight angles -Nothing was damaged (except for a glass vase that we set aside to move on our own, and then promptly broke ourselves. Lesson learned.) I was introduced to this business and its principle,Hans, thru a person I hired to help organize and empty my basement for a major renovation. Hans and his crew arrived on time, were organized, had brought everything one would need to move anything. They worked fast, were pleasant and courteous as can be. I then asked for a quote to do a similar project on my garage, and got the same great price and the same great service. Last month I was faced with moving out of an apartment in Mid-Town Manhattan that we had lived in for over 30 years, and yes I again called Hans. This was clearly a much bigger project and required serious logistics solutions. Just before Christmas, in NYC, without a service elevator or loading dock. He and his workers show up on time, are professional, took good care of our furniture, blanketed everything, and were willing to drive a 3 1/2 hour round trip this last time.
