WORST company to ever rent from, lived in one of the rentals for about 9months, they went through 2 property managers in that time. And once we moved out they have yet to give us our security deposit or prorated rent. We were notified multiple times that our apartment had been rented out again and that was occupied. But now the higher ups at the business that we originally talked to say that it hasn't been rented out and they never even put our apartment back on the website even though it's all been cleaned and ready to rent. I've rented on two separate occasions from RPM, one when I was single and starting my first career. Their office staff are always kind and professional, responding in a timely manner to any communications. The homes I moved into were always super clean. Home repairs often depend on the owner, but I always felt RPM was trying their best to make things happen when needed. They were incredibly good at letting me know about any inspections or repair visits ahead of time, and the agencies they use for repairs were always safe, nice people. read more

It was disturbing to know that my efforts in patiently waiting for 6 months for a partial fence, while ALL of my personal property was stolen or vandalized from my yard, my rent being increased in the process and my unlimited attempts by complying by staying in contact when anything was at issue ended with yet another disappointing result like this. I REALLY cleaned my unit before I left, I even painted. I am being charged $115 for the 5 hours of turn over cleaning, plus other charges for objects of replacement. I am being charged for cobwebs that I removed. They itemized EVERYTHING that I cleaned, and charged ME for it! The only thing i am thanful for is that I got a place at all! Do not trust them!!!! Can not say this enough. My husband called 4 times to confirm we would be eligible to rent an apartment and they told us yes as long as there is no evictions or money owed to past landlords. We explained we have bad credit and a HUD voucher they said it's fine they don't go off credit. We put the application and spent $90 for the applications just to get denied because of insufficient income! Really insufficient income we explained we have HUD voucher if we had sufficient income we wouldn't need a HUD voucher. The denial letter also stated that no rental history or references could be verified. It also said utility collections. We called and spoke with Alyssa and she said she could not speak to us over the phone to email. So I sent an email asking why they would deny us based on income when we asked prior to filling out the application that we had no income. We also told them that my husbands utility collection is his dads( they have the same name) and that it is being disputed. Also my utility collection is for a PGE deposit that I did not finish paying because we moved prior to it being due( granted that's my fault for not getting it removed and taken care of) but it's explained. Why would I pay a deposit on a property I no longer live at? They said my daughter had a utility collection but she has never lived on her own. Alyssa responded with we filled out the denial letter incorrectly it was not based on the income and sent me another one. She never responded to any of my questions. This time it stated that we had utility collections insufficient rental history and insufficient references and too many collections! Really we told them we had bad credit! My husband lost his job a little over a year ago. Explain to me how we could have kept paying our debts with no income having to move in with family. We called to ask why they would deny us based on that. Rachel (she is the wife of the property manager) stated they did not finish processing the application so they did not call any past landlords or references. They did not fully process my application but took my money! $90.00!!!! For them to to do what they promised. They also lied and said the property manger denied the application. We spoke with Jesus (the property manager) he said he did not deny it and that he would call to plead out case that if we could pay double the deposit if they would let us rent. RPM said no. But RPM said the property manager said no???? They can't get their stories straight. They were all very rude after they denied us but before you put an application in they are very kind and friendly. Don't waste your money or time with this company they feed you a bunch of lies to fill out the application then they don't follow through. If people had income and good credit why would they rent??? They would buy a house! Right!? I am going to report them to the BBB if anyone else has stories like this and problems with them please write a review and report them. I wish i could give 0 stars. Worst experience ever. We paid application fee and got approved for the apartment. The women told us that they have to fix something but she will call us as soon as we can move in. A few days later I called and she just said "oh so sorry, we rented it to somebody else". So unprofessional. We did not even get our application fee (50$) back even if it was their fault. They said "we did do the "background check" so the money is gone". Which background check? I am international and don't even have a social security number in USA and we gave them a bank statement. I have lived here for three years. The apartment below me got broken into. Within that time every storage unit got broken into as well. My fiance car got stolen from the parking lot spaces. Then after feeling unsafe and wanting to leave they charged us over 300 dollars for repairs we didn't do. I cleaned that apartment for 4 days and there is no way it was that dirty. I also paid my last days pay before i left and they still charged me. The charges are unjust and unfair. However, I was told by friends who had rented before to beware of this management place and I didn't listen. I am writing this to tell others my story and hope that it gets across that they do not fix the problems they keep the money. My neighbor has paint all over his bedroom floor and many more repairs that needed to be done left from the previous tenants. He said that he called them to say it was unacceptable and that they should be fix. However, They should have been fixed due to them taking the entire deposited from the previous tenant who I know personally. So what happened to the money?????. I applied to rent a house that I could more than afford. I even offered to pay 6 months in advance to insure I got into the place. I never received a call as to whether or not my application was accepted, although I did pay the application fee and everything. A week or two later I drove by and the house was up for sale. I think it's really rude that they took my money to run my application on a house they didn't intend on renting out. I think I deserved my money back but never bothered going back in. Horrible scam artists, preying on people just trying to make a living and get through life. I rented an apartment for 2 years from these people, no pets, don't smoke, 1 car you could say I was a model tenant. I HAVE NEVER BEEN EVICTED FROM ANYWHERE. When you move in they start the scam, pressuring you for the walk through form before you even have a chance to get things put away, this way they can be sure you miss some things that were already broke. Then once your in they do everything in their power to not fix the things that are already broken. This company is entirely run by a group ball busting women, and they are all stuck up and rude even to other females. When i applied they looked at me like i had no business even applying. I worked a great deal so I was never home, and even when I was I read or watched t.v. I am not a partier nor do ever have people over. This unit saw almost no wear whatsoever. When I gave my 30 day notice I asked them if they would come over and go through the house with me. They agreed and said they would call back with a time, they never did, they avoided me like the plague after that. I didn't hear from them until 2 days before I was to be out. They said "oh we are sorry we couldn't get anybody over there". Very convenient, now they can just put what every they want as needing to e fixed. My deposit was $800. They gave me $100 back. And the lies on these invoices you wouldn't believe. You know how the government steals our tax dollars and then says they spent $100 on a nail and $200 on a hammer. Well that's exactly what they did. $75 for tightening light bulbs and screws on cabinet doors, straightening out the blinds. scrubbing the base boards, $290 for steam cleaning a small apartment that was hardly lived in. $10 for throwing away a newspaper left on my doorstep, this was regarded as trash left on premises. Well I'm sure anyone who has already rented from Real Property Management already knows this, but please choose another company when trying to find a place to live, unless you have money to burn like most of us don't. We have been posting this message on craigs' list for about a month now and have received many replies to our inquiry for others that had a bad experience with RPM stealing their deposit and then trying to justify with fake invoices and ridiculous cleaning claims. So I wanted to share one with you I received today from a former tenant and employee of RPM. "Hey yeah!!!! I rented an apartment from them for four yrs and the charged me for new carpet. When the contract states after three yrs they can't charge u for new carpet. I also was never late wth my rent for the whole four yrs and the @$%^* gave me a bad reference saying I didn't. I have a cleaning business and started cleaning for Real Property Management and she would go in after me and dirty up the place saying I didn't clean. The company is extremely dishonest. I'm so sorry you had to deal with her "the owner". She still owes me my deposit". Still have not received a reply to my "IN WRITING ONLY" dispute of cleaning charges. I'm not holding my breath. I will continue to make sure people don't fall into the same trap I did and loose hundreds of dollars of their hard earned money to line the pockets of RPM. Here is another complaint that comes to us from a couple who went to try and rent from RPM and between the time they were quoted a price and the time they were to sign papers, REAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT, jacked up the rent and the deposit. I am a business owner, and my husband has a well paying job, and we both maintain good credit. We had no pets at the time and a 10 yr. old and 21 yr. old living at home whom also had a well paying job. We have nice newer cars and non-smokers....another words......ideal candidates. We looked at a home to rent, expressed our interest in it, upon applying discovered they increased the asking rent price on the house as well as the deposit amount. We asked them how can this be? They then stated that there was such a good response on the add that they decided they weren't asking enough money and they were going to ask $400.00 more a month for it. !!!!!! SHOCKING!!!! We backed out graciously stating that was more than we were willing to pay for a home that didn't include landscaping in the back yard. Thank Goodness for small miracles.! My room-mate and I rented our first apartment together through RPM for about a year and a half, and upon moving out received our full deposit back, including our $500 pet deposit for our cat. I happen to work in property management so I know how the unit is expected to be left. We cleaned vigorously and turned in a move-in check list to ensure we wouldn't be charged for previous damage before our tenancy. As long as you put your 30 days notice in writing, take pictures and PROPERLY clean your unit you should have no problems renting and being satisfied with your accounting. We still currently rent from RPM and appreciate how prompt they are to address maintenance issues. They are one of the few property management companies I feel comfortable renting from. read more

The easiest money ever made was the $100 for 'touch-up' by their cleaning service. After reading the previous post I expected to pay for the rug cleaning so didn't waste time doing that. They got it cheaper than we could. Thanks for the heads up. The surprise charge was for 5 hours of cleaning that a crew of 6 people previously did as we were moving out. We even rented a generator after the electricity was cut off to blow out the ancient garage with a compressor. Home was much cleaner when we moved out than it was when we moved in. I recently moved from out of town and was going to rent from RPM. The particular property didn't fit my needs. The staff was always cordial, professional and responded in a timely manor. When issues came up, with waiting and staying in a hotel for 10 days for the property to be move in ready; the property management company went to bat for me to do everything they could to make it right. While I didn't end up renting from RPM, that was due to the property and not the management company. Even though we had our differences, I would recommend them to a friend. read more

These people screwed me over. I paid for a professional company to clean the apartment after I moved out and provided a receipt. I cleaned the carpet professionally (at least they didn't charge me for that again). Apartment was in perfect condition except for some minor scratches on the laminate flooring from moving furniture and a small hole in the wall. I provided them pictures when I emailed them to tell them I had vacated the unit since no one was available to walk through it with either my husband or myself. They charged $600 to repair the minor scratches when I moved out. My daughter works at a home improvement store and says that she doesn't know in what universe it would cost $600 - including labor - to repair the cheap laminate. Not to include the various other charges they posted to me that make absolutely no sense - such as a flea treatment. I NEVER had fleas in the apartment when I lived there. read more

Be careful renting from this service. They managed a property I lived in for 10 years. The people they sent out to do "repairs" appeared to be less than unqualified. I had to show one guy how to remove an old aluminum awning. They nailed plastic through the roof shingles to stop a leak. This made the leak worse which eventually caused the ceiling to cave onto the kitchen floor; one guy used construction nails to replace trim, then he patched the trim pieces together with the same size nails when it splintered. My favorite was "fixing" the tub overflow by removing the pipe so the water drained directly on the ground under the house. The maintenance was deffered to the point where the house had to be torn down after the owner sold the property. They will use strong-arm tactics to get the most money out of low income properties, rented to low income individuals. They never let you forget who's boss. From my experience it works both ways. My dad used them to manage one of his properties and got out of the contract as soon as he could when he caught them in several lies. read more
