There are pros and cons to this company, but the cons outweigh the pros…read more Pros: maintenance is very responsive and comes in a timely manner. The units are also nice and the fixtures are classy. Cons: I asked if I could extend our lease until the end of October (Lease ended July 12), as I relocated back to Chicago, and had tenants in the property I owned. We were told by Latoya Sallie that it would be extended to September 1. I was okay with that. Victoria sent me the extension renewal via email and I signed it electronically, but all the sudden it disappeared off of their portal (PRINT EVERYTHING), and nobody had any answers and acted completely confused. My lease extension was not honored, and they began showing the unit to prospective tenants. As a result, my 4 year old son and I have to live with a friend until October. THE WORST PART. The 4500 S. King Drive (I was in 2N) building is infested with mice. From December until July, I have caught 11 mice. Yes.... 11. And I am not a nasty person. I thought they would disappear once the weather warmed up, but I saw 2, and caught 3 within the last 2 weeks (it is currently July 9th). I started taking pics towards the end of the lease, but I should have taken pics of them all. I am upset about the lack of communication, and the ball dropped by Latoya Sallie, but I am honestly relieved to finally get out of this mice infested building. I could not relax AT ALL. Once they began showing the unit, I took the liberty of leaving a message to prospective tenants to let them know the building had mice. Petty? Yes, but I was pissed. Despite the mice issue, I was willing to stay to avoid the inconvenience and expense of moving twice in 3 months. I felt I was I good tenant. Paid on time EVERY MONTH, and treated the unit as if it was my own, but they don't give a shit about that.

Admittedly, the application process was lengthy and at the time, felt a little daunting. That being said, once we were approved for our unit and settled in, we've been happy. The unit and the building are well cared for. During the winter months, snow and ice are always cleared in a timely fashion and in the summer, the grounds and shrubbery are nicely manicured. When the need for maintenance has arisen, the team at Southside has been very responsive, working to ensure that the problem is fixed as quickly as possible. Aside from the property itself, we have enjoyed getting to know our neighbors. Southside has done a good job of bringing together people who value themselves and their neighbors, everyone working together to create a climate that feels less like an apartment and more like a home.

This is my second time renting out a unit from them. My first year leasing with them was nothing short of amazing! All members of Redel Rentals treat you like family! I think that is most important. To have people who genuinely care about your wellbeing and happiness. The units are also very big (especially for the Bronzeville area) for a great price. My one bedroom has such a spacious and cozy feel to it that makes it feel like home. If you've lived anywhere before, you'll know how important it is to have a quality maintenance team. Here at Redel, all of my maintenance issues are fixed within a day - or sometimes even within the hour. Mr. Wilson is a skilled jack of all trades, but won't hesitate to get extra help if it means resolving the issue quicker. After living in other places in the city, I have learned to truly appreciate a company that puts the tenants first. If you are on the market for an apartment in a well-secured, quiet building in a great location under great management - look no further! Sidenote: the staff also keeps the entryways and halls very clean and nice. Exterminators come to the unit monthly as a preventative method (which is awesome) and there are cameras recording all areas of the building 24/7

One might say that I have a wide range for comparison. I moved into a Redel Rentals property two years ago. The staff continues to impress. Redel is easily one of my best living experiences to date. Staffing is the difference between a good property and a better property. Members of the Redel team consistently perform well. For example, when I ordered new furniture, delivery happened on a weekday. The Redel team arranged for the items to be taken to my unit while I was at work. No need for special arrangements to pick things up at the management office after hours. Much appreciated. Repair and service requests are handled via email. When I email a service request, I always receive a reply within a few hours, and always with a proposed range of times for the service to happen. One complaint: Rent is still paid by paper check. Online payments would be quicker. Upside: The management baton has been passed to the second generation of family ownership. Young people love to out-perform their parents, so advancements are likely to happen soon. Bottom line: If you're in the market for a secure, well-located unit in a vintage building with a professional staff, take a serious look at Redel Rentals.

We have lived here, the ice in the back of the building builds up so badly that it's nearly impossible to safely exit the building or enter the laundry facilities. I've called twice in past couple of days and both times I was hung up on and was told there wasn't a property manager available. Last week from my window, I overheard maintenance say "I didn't think it would get this bad" in reference to the ice. How can that be true if I knew it would be this based on my experience from the past two years and the fact that winter happens every year in Chicago? The amount of ice that has accumulated over the past three weeks is unacceptable and negligent. Beyond simply accessing the entry and doing landry, if there were a fire, how would we safely exit. At least twice a week garbage and recycling is removed, where is the concern for them?  We all know and understand injuries that could occur from slipping on ice could be fatal. It is clear that Ivy Residencies does not care about the lives or the safety of their residents. In addition to not being able to safely exit my building through the back, we also have not had a working doorbell. How is this possible? How can one company care so little about the well being of the folx they rent to? It has been so convenient to live here the past few years, however, I feel that I should have access to basic safety elements including two safe entry/exit points and a doorbell. Please do better. The lives of your residents literally depend on it.

It's essential that you keep all your rent paid receipts. They lost our rent payment and hounded us for additional payment until we produced our receipt. 2. Although we paid gas through their online portal, we received notices from the gas company for gas shut off due to non-payment. Obviously HPPM was not paying the bill. 3. Every night I fall asleep to the sound of the interior walls crumbling. 4.The apartment was not cleaned prior to us moving-in. 5. I have spotted many dead roaches in the apartment. 6. There are mice. 7. There are holes and cracks in the walls from previous tenants. 8. The roof leaks causing serious water damages and active water intrusion. While this properties is in a good location I have to believe that there are better property management companies in Hyde Park that are more responsive, up keep their properties and do not lose your rent payments.

From the first outreach to tour our first condo, I was immediately impressed by the timeliness of the response from Sam Shaffer at Chicago Properties Firm. He immedtiately connected us with Artette and I feel so lucky to be able to work so closely with her thse past few months. I can't speak highly enough of her and the team at Chi Properties. Her professionalism, honesty, integrity and hard work were very much appreciated and respected. She is very detailed, honest, and just so great to work with. From the first home she viewed with us, to the last, she remember every single detail of things we liked & disliked and as I sent her listing after listing until we found the one, she advised on before even going to the listing if we would like it or not. 10/10 experience with her and the team! When we decide to buy our next home, I will absolutely be using her and the team again as they made this process as seamless as possible.

I cannot rate David highly enough. He was our real estate agent last year as first-time home buyers also expecting our first baby. David was careful to explain every step of the process, and balanced perfectly the delicate line between supporting our decisions and preferences while giving us honest feedback about certain properties. He was incredibly responsive, always in-contact, and always found an answer for us when we reached out with questions. We never felt pressured to make a decision. Even when, earlier this year, we had an issue with our new Jefferson Park condo and needed consulting on our contract, he responded right away and went above and beyond to help us resolve it. David is also just a great, sweet guy. :) We are so incredibly happy with our first home, and we will definitely be contacting David when it comes time for us to make our next move!!
