The owner and his staff are friendly. They have a private event space you can rent and an outdoor seating area. Wow everybody here is very friendly!! The bartender was super knowledgeable as well; when my fiance ordered a drink, he told us that it was the most sour-tasting one and checked that was okay! Laid back, locals hangout, with good beer. Located in a business park area, I don't think you can find a more chill spot. There's plenty of parking, it's quiet, and it doesn't have a day care environment like a few of the breweries (come on parents....you don't need to drink beer with your one year old next to you...go do something with them!). The staff is super friendly, and I don't think I've ever had a wait to grab a beer. I really like the beer choices here, not too crazy like some breweries. Can you ever go wrong with a brewery?! Reaver Beach is off the beaten path, so there are not a ton of tourist, or too loud of an atmosphere. Although they close a little early (9pm) it is a great casual drinking place. The staff are super friendly and helpful in helping you decide on a drink. The venue is of adequate size and a laid back vibe. There is not much of a variety in beer styles here. I am typically not an IPA person but reaver beach has perfected theirs! I was able to find three IPAs that were smooth but still hoppy. I would definitely recommend! read more

Looooove this neighborhood brewery! Since my bf Jeff and I moved right around the corner from this place, it has become our "Cheers". Everyone is extremely friendly and it is easy to meet new people and hang out. The beers are pretty awesome and I tend to lean on the IPA end of things-I would totally recommend Hammerhead, and for more octane...Hoptopus. The beertenders are all fabulous-shout out to: Eric, Josh, Courtney and Caroline! They are more like family...and they also sell beers to go, have chips and cookies on site. Also, check their event calendar...for fun events and food trucks! They also have a great game selection...especially if you like playing card or UNO. read more

I have to say that in a region that has a lot of craft beer options and most of them are just okay, I was quite impressed with RB's offerings. This is one of the top three breweries I have been to in the Tidewater region. I tried six and my favorites were the All Day Hazer pale ale, the Hoptopus Rex double IPA, and the Tower of Bones double IPA. The Hammerhead was a little too bitter and heavy for my taste though. The Rex, in particular, had a nice pineapple flavor to it, but still had the assertiveness and body of a good IPA. Definitely a beer worth getting again. read more

I am almost always willing to give a business another try after not being thrilled by an inital visit. My previous review was on par, to a little below in my mind based off service. I was so glad that I did get back after a year to give them another spin. I picked a slow middle to the week Wednesday around 5:30 PM to check them out for a second go around. The lot had a few cars and no food truck which was disappointing since I was starved. However, I get it with regards to support the business. I also could have looked this up, so I am not holding this against the business at all. I stepped in to around a half dozen enjoying brews and decided to pony up to the bar. However, with no menus I was back up looking at the menu board and discussed with bartender Shawn. I sampled three recommended based off my taste of darker, more robust ales. My eventual choice was a yum American Strong Ale named Veriest Rogue. When he says strong believe it son! At 13.5% the brewer was sneaky about pushing the envelope and no way would you guess that high of an ABV. The waffling smell of cognac is at the nose immediately.The taste has this super delicious flavor that carries it. Since I was starved and was drinking a strong beer on an empty stomach I needed to rectify the situation. Reaver does carry Cape Cod chips and Daddy G salsa. I ordered that up immediately and trashed the whole bag myself. The salsa was a medium and had a good kick and was darn good. Shawn really worked the bar and I could tell most, if not all were regulars. He remained responsive to anything I may need, but I told him one beer and I was going to be out. I did ask for a water which comes from the tap, they have no bottle for purchase. I really felt comfortable on this visit and enjoyed the vibe. I am thrilled to make it back and can't wait to return. Maybe I can even get lucky and meet the famous Steven A. who is a super regular. read more

Great bar! The selection was good and it's always changing, based on availability. Stouts are always a go to for me. Their Nitro was very good, just hate having to wait for the 5 minutes to let it settle! 5 stars, and I'm not a beer drinker. What I am is a travel blogger, that likes to check out all the cool spots, and my best friend was in from NYC and wanted to go here. I've officially been twice now. As far as catering to those who don't drink, you get water. But oh well, you're literally at a brewery. Honestly, that could be my only complaint, and I'd love to see them sell soda by the can or something. But again, it's a brewery. I was super thirsty for beer flight. I went to Newport News for St. George and found they are close on Sun. I was really careless. I drove another 1hr to get here. The staff is super friendly. The interior is warm and the bartenders were friendly. Despite the high marks on Untappd, we were disappointed with our selections (Zephyr, a session IPA and Vulture, IPA). Meh. The session had bitterness but no floral notes. The IPA was average. Feeling moved by neither beer, we took off. Perhaps there are better options? The breakfast stout "Morning Breath" is delicious!! Too bad it was a one-and-done. I hope it comes back! They constantly have a new batch of something interesting in the back. On the weekends they have a food truck and it brings in a large crowd. Most brews are $4. The now have THE KRAKEN. It's a Triple IPA that has a nice punch to it. They have a shirt for it as well. The growler prices are close to $15 and grenades are about $7 depending on the brew. They have snifters and pint glasses for sale for $5. There's a punch card program here too. read more

Had a great time here over the weekend! The hubs and I stopped in for a couple of flights. When I say a couple of flights, I mean we each had two flights. Why not try all of them, right?! The place was buzzing (pun intended) while we were there, but not overly packed, so we were able to cop a squat at a table. We took our time sampling our beer and chatting with people as they came and went. We even watched Rocky on the bar TV, LOL. Good times! There wasn't a single beer we didn't like. It was great to see Reaver Beach up and running. We hadn't stopped in before but when my wife found out they had an English Mild on tap, it was a no brainer. We took for from Brooklyn Bagels for lunch. They had appropriately spaced tables and benches on the patio. The tables were disinfected after each group left. They sold on site and to go beers. Offered crowlers, growlers (can't bring other breweries), and kegs. Business seemed to be strong, even had a patron return a keg while we were there. The English Mild was tasty at 4.8%. The Hazy Tide was a strong NE IPA. Great notes of grapefruit. Overall a solid stop, I will return. read more

The beer is very inventive. They add things like mangoes, oranges and the like to create the tasty libations. Given that the prices are a bit higher than other local brews, but hey where else will you find a punchcard for growler fills?? The tasting room is kinda small and packed on Saturdays so be prepared to stand and to hunt for parking. The taproom is pretty awesome. A lot to look at and a great atmosphere. They also have a tiny outside area to hang out at. Some of my friends really like beach brew so my friend and I decided to check it out. We have tried several VA breweries so we were excited to try another local one. We weren't too impressed. We each got the flight of beer to sample 8 of the beers on tap and they pretty much all tasted the same. It was all extremely hoppy. If you like it hoppy then great but if not then they don't have anything for you. We were disappointed by the lack of taste variety. Also, the staff behind the bar seemed like they would have rather been somewhere else. They didn't take the time to explain the beers to us nor did they want to answer our questions. Will not be going back. We ended up going around the corner to the other brewery and drank some beer that we enjoyed with friendly staff. read more

Beer was good. Tasting room was small and a little awkward once other people came inside. The brewery was located in a odd spot - we almost passed it, and when we pulled in to the lot we questioned if we were in the right place. When I visited over the summer they had run out of their IPA and 3xIPA. I was disappointed. We were offered doubles on our tastings due to their lack of variety. I very much enjoyed this place. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the bar was not crowded. My initial feeling when we walked in was that we were walking into a beachside dive bar. It was dark, but thankfully not dank, and warm. My husband, his uncle and I shared a flight of everything. Some standouts for me were their Ghost Ship Pale Ale, their Black Flag Empire (I'm not usually a farmhouse/saison fan), their SeaDevil Imperial Stout, and their Bass Panzer. Great brewery at VA Beach, which was open Memorial Day Weekend 2020. They had. Nice outdoor setup that afforded patrons physical distance and were polite in the way in which they asked folks to limit their stay to an hour so that the next party could enjoy. They were constantly cleaning and sanitizing and had two lines operating, one for drafts to enjoy on the premises, the other for crowlers to go. They were running a crowler special, Buy 2 Hoptopus (Double IPA) Get 1 free. While we've had Hoptopus before, we tried something different during our visit. My husband tried a pint of Hazy Tide, a New England style IPA and I opted for Revenant, an English Mild Ale. Hands down favorite was Revenant. We ended up purchasing a crowler to go and shared once we returned to the campground. Not many places brew a good English Mild, full of English crystal and pale chocolate malts. It was good and a definite winner on a cooler day by the campfire. Lots of selections and a style for everyone on tap. read more
