The drink options look great, from beer, to mixed drinks, to even coffee. However, we didn't have a chance to try them this time around. We came in for a late lunch, the menu has some great options. Unfortunately, my food came out about 15 minutes before my husband's, so we couldn't really enjoy our meal together. 2 meals, no drinks (not even a soda), and 2 sauces came out to around $40. Honestly, I wouldn't pay that again for the portion of food you're getting. For food at this price point, I think there's better places. Commonwealth brewing is one of the best breweries I have been to in a long time. The beer is in many different styles, and most places have just IPA's. This place has a nice selection. (Sours, stouts etc.) I had the kookaburra beer and it quickly has become one of my favorites. The Grape Gatsby was served only in a can, but was also delicious. I am a big fan of sour beers and this brewery hits the mark. The brewery itself is definitely a more open brewery. There's a quick line on busy days, but the bartenders are quick and efficient and make the line move. The bar itself has picnic table like seating and a huge open area outside, with each table having a QR code for food/beer etc. This last time, I had the pimento grilled cheese, with tomato soup and it's the perfect snack for a winter day. When heading towards the bathroom, there was a huge chalkboard of posted events coming up as well as another section for events. I really do like a brewery that has events in the area to make people come and visit and it gives people a chance to experience cool events in the area while having a familiar place to go afterwards or before. I Came here for coffee one morning, and the coffee as well was excellent. I enjoyed the 007 which is a shaken espresso, Highly recommend! They also have pastries, we got the blueberry scone, chocolate chip scone and the cheese danish. All were great and tasted fresh. Not what you would expect from a brewery in the morning, but it was well worth the trip. The brewery itself was at a low volume and had great sunlight peeking through for a great coffee in the morning. Parking was a bit rough when it was busy on a Saturday afternoon, but there was a separate lot if you can't find parking in the main one. You scan the QR code and order from your table. You order all your drinks from the bar. You can either pay or open a tab. From coffee, hot cocoa to beer, mixed drinks or mimosas. They have it all. Since it was our first time we read the holiday menu and got a holiday latte we drank our Latte as we spent time reading 3 areas of drinks and spent time reading about all the food. - The Maple Cabin latte 5-star -Chicken sandwich with home fries 5-star - Synthwave (dopplebock Lager) my favorite-5 star - wolpertinger Bavarian style dunkelweiss ale. Maybe it was a fluke. The beer's pretty good. I've been here a few times but this time was disappointing. The pizza wasn't great. Wood-fired pizza is supposed to be crispy art; but ours was blackened in a bad way. Pretzel was okay, but the beer cheese was terrible! Consistency was subpar, and it had zero flavor. This is my second visit to this brewery and I know for a fact that I see many more visits in the future. You can absolutely tell that this place is a local's favorite. Both times I've been, there has been plenty of families enjoying themselves both inside and out. They have plenty of seats and they have games available. The staff members aren't overboard friendly but they are very efficient. They answer any questions you may have and are knowledgeable about everything they offer. Both times we have ordered their cheese pizza (pretty good), one time we got the white pizza and the other time we got the verde. Their pizzas are enjoyable and they are a good size. We've gotten fries and the pretzel which comes with beer cheese and mustard. I don't drink but my family have enjoyed several of their beers and I enjoyed their Dubai latte earlier in the month. Commonwealth is both a local institution and a destination if you're on vacation in VB. The beers are diverse and exciting. Be careful to pay attention to the ABV %'s...because some of the beers are higher than you might expect. The ambience both inside and outside is fun and friendly. It's very easy to order food wherever you're seated using their QR code system. The pizzas and pub-style foods are all perfect for socializing and swilling. Stopped here on my way to my VA Beach Air B&B. I got the Tinta Blanca and a 4-pack of Drap A Pin to-go totalling ~$30. The Tinta Blanca was refreshing, crisp, and the perfect fruity flavor. Haven't tried the Drop A Pin yet, but they have over 10 beers that sound great that Is try if I was here longer. This was my first visit. My daughter has been a couple times and said it was always good. Looked like a good place to hang out and drink craft beer. My experience was not the same. There were 9 of us and the atmosphere was super! Signing in and ordering online and leaving a 25% tip prior to service and a 3.3% up charge for using a card leaves me a bit cold. So I opted to go in to the bar and pay cash, 130$ before tip(for 7, 2 others ordered separately l). 1 hour later , 1 person got a burger. The other 8 watched for 20 more minutes. Then our 3 appetizers came. Another 5 min and desert was on the table. We had to get our own waters from a water fountain and absolutely nothing personable from the server. We had to go to the bar to see where our food was. All we were told was they were slammed and only had 2 guys in kitchen. It was 9:40 and they closed at 10. We were left with 4 kids and no food. After requesting a refund and completely irritated, I received a full refund 4 starving kids and no place to eat except Kroger for cereal. I would NEVER return. No excuse. read more

Since opening its big garage doors over 8 years ago in the old Chesapeake fire house off Pleasure House Drive Commonwealth had evolved. They now offer more brews in their tap room and have expanded to Richmond, Va. Their second generation brewmaster has been phenomenal! I have not been a regular at Commonwealth for sometime now with pandemic woes and business travel, but have returned this Spring. All aspects of the business are firing red hot after their expansion. The pandemic years seemed to never have slowed them down. Commonwealth now offers food from their own kitchen which was a struggle with the city to get it done. So food truck days are gone which is a bit sad, but it's progress as the neighborhood constantly complained of their presence where it parked. It'ssimple menu they can do well featuring signature wood fired pizza, but also burgers, wings and a few healthy options like salads. Everything is done by using a QR code and ordering off an app They even now offer a menu of their own coffee brand Common Coffee. Most recent was a great burger, fries and Wealth brew. A few years ago they expanded their footprint and added a huge park like area to the side with picnic tables. Its actually larger than what they need on a daily, but can be used for special events outdoors. They still offer a special events room indoors. For me what's changed the most is the atmosphere, yeah, yeah we now call this vibe in cool places. It's a beer destination with local vendors that offer items outside under tents, live music and a beefed up merchandise selection. From the beginning I felt Jermey, the savvy owner was tapping into areas where he could grow. It started with quick local distribution and has evolved into much more of a branding of the business. Locals have supported his tweaking of a vision that now seems to be hitting its stride. A strong 5 stars and will return this Summer for bites, music and friendships with epic brews in hand. Commonwealth Brewing opens pretty early and is family friendly. During the day, people like to hang out here for brunch and lunch and get some beer. During the night, people play games and hang out and drink. When it's nice weather, it is very nice to sit outside the brewery. It is also a very good place to hold a decently large event. They have a separate room in the back or you can have it outside. The food is okay here. I think the food was decently salty during brunch. I didn't take a picture here, but the dinner menu is way better for drunk food. I recommend the wings and the pretzel. They have a good amount of parking spots in the gravel lot, so parking is not hard to find. read more

Commonwealth is my favorite brewhouse in town. They do a phenomenal job with all of their IPAs and DIPAs, and I would definitely ask for a couple tasters or ask for their recommendation in order to see what your best bet is. Also, they do flights! It's tough to keep your selections limited but I would definitely try to get a nice variety of itesm. Also as a sidenote - there is a new branch in Fairfax. New to the area & finding all the breweries. We've had commonwealth in cans before and so it was exciting to be able to try some of their brews on tap. The location is convenient and easy to locate- a decent amount of parking but it was a bit hard to find a spot on a weekend & an event day. The venue itself is plenty large and hosts lots of seating options both indoors & outdoors. I love that there's food & coffee offered here. It's seriously the one stop shop for everything delicious. If you're an IPA fan or a sour fan- this seems to be the brewery for you. Almost an entire board dedicated to just IPA beers and then almost an entire other dedicated to just sours & others. There's also beer slushies on tap- how cool! The service was quick even though the line wrapped around the inside, and the beertenders were friendly. I arrived to Commonwealth as a rain storm began. After leaving my Uber to walk in the brewery, the door greeter told me I could not enter the facility because they were at max capacity. Outside the brewery there is no sheltered area, so I asked to enter the venue to hail a departing Uber. I was refused entry, and had to wait outside in the rain with my wife while we hailed an Uber to depart. This is ridiculous, Commonwealth. At 5pm on a Saturday, there were about 8 individuals waiting to order a departing Uber due to your lack of capacity. I believe extending temporary kindness to allow us to stand inside would be worth your monetary risk with the Fire Marshall. read more

Came here for their artisan event. Too bad weather was rainy and grey but it didn't dampen the crafty vendor stalls that were set up outside. There was a stall for dog leashes, etc, dog portraits, totes, macrame plant hangers, recycled material coasters and magnets. Inside the brewery, it was overflowing with customers who hung out with friends, family (including dogs). Whole list of draft beers including halo halo flavor (ube, mango, bananas and coconuts. And there was live entertainment! Kurt Browning is such a talented guitarist/singer! The wait staff was friendly and efficient. Even ordering was systematic - your table is automatically identified, you just put your name and order, then it is served to you! I met up with a friend and her family. Had a blast. New favorite brewery in the area. LOVE the atmosphere here. Tons of seating, both inside and outside, although the place itself is very open, so even indoor seating feels outdoors. Pet-friendly which we loved, because CUTE. Both beers that we got were perfect and their food was also great. We just got the pretzel, but everything around also looked and smelled amazing. I didn't realize at first, but they also have alcoholic slushies. I got a sample and they were SO GOOD!
