Overpriced everything and nothing really special about the design. The only thing somewhat going for the lounge is a semi-descent view of the river. Looking for an upscale place with a spectacular city view of the Chicago River and Michigan Avenue Bridge? Look no farther than the sophisticated Trump International Hotel & Tower. I was dying to recreate the amazing time I had at Sixteen, but it was closed for a private event so I decided to check out Rebar on the mezzanine floor. Unfortunately, many of my fellow Yelpers experienced pretentious and mediocre service. I can't say I had the same experience when I visited a few weeks ago. Even though my girlfriend and I only ordered one cocktail each, we were treated well and promptly. I enjoyed the sangria and complimentary popcorn and olives. Several reviewers noted the mundane decor. I visited in the evening when it was dark out and didn't pay much attention to decor. I was here for the view. I guess you can't get Trump branded vodka drinks in a Trump branded bar in Iowa. Whatever, Rebar seriously sucked- horrible bar selection (lots of trump brand alcohol), meager views considering the potential, staff that couldn't be more, 'meh', this whole scene is so uncool I can't stand it. Dear Donald Trump, Did you actually think about the prices when you created rebar? I make good money, but geez....we spent like $80 on 2 drinks and cucumber rolls! First of all....the drink "Dream" that everyone had mentioned was good....it was more like a nightmare with strawberries in it. Went here for my 20th birthday last year after Sox fest for some drinks and sushi. We had a table/ lounge chairs reserved for us right in the middle overlooking the river. It was so beautiful and I liked that it was dark because there really is no need for too many house lights when the city lights are shining right in the enormous windows. The service was impeccable even though it was very busy. A couple of us had the mojito lemonade (non-alcoholic of course!) which was so delicious as it was refreshing, while my 21+ friends complained about the "overpriced beer". Umm, you're in the Trump Tower and you ordered Corona. Go big or go home! Order something fun! Lame... Anyway, the sushi was phenomnomnomnom. My red meat eating friends tried the steak sushi and said it was tender and juicy. I believe them, but I stuck to my sea buddies :) We're defiantly going back when we're all 21! I came here with some friends a couple of weeks ago and I was really underwhelmed. The best part? They serve everyone these little plates of snacks and the pickled garlic was the shit! Oh my gosh, it was SO good! The drinks were a little weak and the service was SLOW! The place wasn't packed yet we got stuck in a corner (VIP) table. We had a good looking and well dressed crowd, so I'm not sure what the deal with that was. I'd give it another shot, but I really wasn't impressed. This was my venue for ringing in the New Year. After reading all the great reviews about "The Dream" (specialty drink with Pink vodka, rose champagne and muddled strawberry goodness) my fellow Yelper and I decided this would be our drink for the whole night. They are potent and could lead to losing a friend to a little nap mid-party, but I digress... The big draw for this place is clearly the view. We got to enjoy both of the fireworks displays while still sipping our drinks and staying toasty warm. I completely agree with the past reviews that the decor was rather cheap for the Trump name. On NYE, the crowd started off as all couples and lots of cougars (Rarrrr!), but mercifully the crowd got younger as the night went on. The service was clearly 4-star plus all night and very consistent -- even when they would get rush crowds. That impressed me! Plus, being a hotel, it took less than 30 seconds to get a cab at 1:30 on NYE, which was *fabulous*. Will this be my new hang out? No. But I will definitely go here again for the delish Dream beverage and the great views. This is an excellent place to go if you want to get all dressed up own it diva style. read more

This place was fantastic. We were having a drink at the Purple Pig about a block away and wanted to find a place with a better view and a fine selection of single malt scotches. We found it. This place had everything we were looking for. Nice upscale atmosphere, amazing view of the river and Michigan Ave Bridge, and a solid array of scotch. While the prices are relatively steep, come on... we're drinking scotch. If you want cheap head to the other side of the tracks. The drinks are very $$$ - to be expected at this Trump hotel - but they are also extremely unique and well made. The bar is comfortably furnished with great river views. The staff was attentive. The bar menu was small but also interesting, Asian-influenced and prepared by the chef of Sixteen. The music was nondescript - frankly i expected a more contemporary edgy mix. Of course it's expensive: The name on the building reads, "Trump," who is not known for bargain-hunting. I find it a little funny that so many yelpers complain about the prices here. You are, in part, paying for the experience. The bar is dark and swanky, if not a little heady. The view is incredible, which is why we stopped here for a drink after a show nearby. Our server was fine, not snobby but not chummy either, which was okay with us since we were there to talk with each other and not schmooze with our server. I had a red dragon martini, which was jalapeño-infused vodka with raspberry puree and a little twist of lime. I loved the sweet and spicy. The salted nuts they put on your table serve their purpose in keeping you thirsty and drinking. Besides the scenery, the people-watching was interesting, too. Lots of traveling business-men in suits and well-dressed women accompanying them that seem relatively new to their acquaintances. It made for an amusing sociological scene. We only had a drink each and left, but enjoyed our time in the rabbit hole. I'm glad I checked this place out because I'm more curious about the building than the actual bar. Not a Trump fan at all but wanted to give this place an open mind. The crowd seemed to be full of cougars that night or just older ladies that wanted to get out with their girlfriends. My group was definitely the youngest. Decor was nothing special and the view of the Chicago river was beautiful. I'd rather be on the bottom half of this building than the top half so I think the bar was located on the right level. The drinks were a bit pricey...that's expected people! I ordered a glass of rose but didn't like it at all. My group ordered cocktails and said all of them was pretty strong. I've never been to a wine tasting or a lounge that serves spectacular wine, so I don't expect the best drinks. Located inside the Trump Tower, this lounge/bar is simply fabulous. Gorgeous views and cozy, classy atmosphere. This is an awesome place for a romantic date, especially if you're into Asian cuisine and seafood. Let me just say, this is NOT the place for broke college students like myself. Lucky for me I was with a group of people. We probably had the best spot, situated next to the glass wall and closest to the bar. The almond appetizers were the best almonds I've ever tasted--spicy! Hmm...I really want to like this place since it's at the home of my parents, but it's just too trendy. My friends and I got flak for wearing flip flops. I took some other friends around a tour of Trump and upon arriving at Rebar, everyone looked pretty crappy, so a dress code at a hotel bar was not expected. Drinks are pricey as expected, and servers were almost more pretentious than its patrons. The river/lake view is nice and the riverwalk should be beautiful when finished. The servers should try to be half as nice as the staff downstairs. Don't get the honeydew drink. It came in a martini glass and tasted funny. The $14 price was not as funny. read more

Wednesday night at Rebar proved to be decently crowded, but not so crowded that we weren't able to select one of three tables. We chose the large table with the decent view. The bar itself was very clean and classy. Top notch. Our server came back to check on us frequently, so props on that. She was very nice and helpful when it came to my inquiries of shot prices. The drinks are pricey; this is only a statement and not a complaint. I just want people to know thaty they're pricey so that they don't go there and then later say, 'OH EM GEE, Tiffany! The drinks were SO pricey!' It's the Trump; what did you expect? The overall experience that I had there was priceless. I loved that even though it was crowded, it wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear my friend sitting directly across from me. This proved beneficial due to the fact that our conversation became extremely inappropriate fairly quickly. We had very bad experience. It was 6 Ukrainian girls of us, we just had regular evening with girls talks... Then 2 russian guys came in and seated next to our table. They started talking inappropriate stuff to us, but we were not reacting to this. I think it made them mad and they called security and managers and said that it was us who talked sh*t about the waitress (even though we never said a word about her, cause she was nice and didn't do anything wrong). Anyway, the waitress just brought us a check and said we must pay ($700+ bill) and leave Rebar, we asked why and she just repeated again to pay and leave. Not a manager, nor the security guy explained anything to us (6 women), but just made us leave Trump Tower. Never again we're coming back there, and we don't recommend anyone to visit this place. I met some girlfriends at Rebar after work one night for Girls Night Out. They got some prime seats right at the front of the lounge and were sitting pretty for a while. When I got there, they were waiting on a round of drinks and menus to eat. When I ordered my drink and the girls tried to order food, she informed them that, "like, the kitchen closed 5 minutes ago." Could she not tell us when we asked for the menus 15 minutes ago and didn't come back? The service was slow. The drinks were all way over priced. $15 for a vodka tonic? And let me tell you, this was not top shelf. The people there made me laugh. A bunch of drunk douchebags and girls who thought they were in Hollywood. Barf. Wow, I heard a lot of hype about this place. The bar has a view of the river, but i have a hard time appreciating it in retrospect due to the pricing in this place. There is really nothing special about this bar except for its location. Mixed drinks are 15 bucks and a cordial on the rocks was 11. Ridiculous. I get it, its a tourist trap, but come on. Really irrational. I had to take the waitresses pen to try to recoup some of the cost. I would not recommend this bar to anyone, not worth the time or money. If you want to spend that kind of money, at least go to the Hancock building and get some really ridiculous views. read more

I have gone back here a handful of times - on a date, with a friend from out of town and a few weeks ago with family who was visiting from out of town. They still make a killer french martini. I have also had a glass of lemonade here which was very good and hit the spot on a late Saturday afternoon. The views of the river and city are breathtaking and on my last visit I had a delicious white sangria which was very very good and very very expensive ($20). I wouldn't normally order a $20 drink, but I had asked our Waitress what was good and she suggested it. It was so good, that I looked on the menu to figure out what I was drinking, and that is when I realized each sip cost about $2 bucks. So I made certain to eat all the fruit inside the glass! My 22 year old Brother noticed electrical tape holding down some cords, and commented that the decor was kind of tacky and cheap looking. I couldn't agree more. The last few times around, the staff has been extra nice and accommodating (yay!) - BUT Donald, when I pay $20 for a drink, I don't expect to look down and see electrical tape on the floor. read more

Checked out the new kid in town the other day (a wednesday night). We were able to secure a nice little two top next the picture windows...and what a picture it provides. The bar has a sweeping view of the chicago river, and the undulating curtain of the bar's glass wall makes the view even more compelling. Besides the view, however, im not sure this place is worth the detour. The decor is haphazard, and there are a couple fake looking plants scattered about...more appropriate for a Denny' s then a "luxury hotel". The building itself is still under partial construction, so Ill hold off on an entire review till I see the whole shebang. Maybe she'll get an upgrade. read more
