I saw Sharon for the first time when I was about to turn 21 back in 2009. I hadn't had therapy…read moresince I was a child and suffered from severe depressive episodes, anxiety, and had a ton of childhood trauma. Sharon helped me to start making sense of it all; I began to form coping mechanisms for my anxiety, to cast away shame for my depression, and begin to process my trauma without reliving it. Sharon also assisted in getting me formally diagnosed and start seeing a psychiatrist. When I decided to withdraw from my school, which provided my health insurance, I had to stop seeing her. I spent the next few years trying to find another therapist or counselor but none were nearly as helpful as Sharon. In 2015, I decided to call her up again and see if I could afford to go back because I was desperate. I didn't expect Sharon to remember me - it had been five to six years since I last saw her - but she did in fact remember me! Not only that, she was willing to work with what finances I had (caveat: I don't know if this is a standard practice with her, so I wouldn't assume it is. I figured that I sounded *that* desperate). I saw Sharon on and off until I moved out of state in 2017. I can't even begin to express how much Sharon helped me to heal myself after I had been through so much pain. Instead of telling me what my issues were, she helped me to see them for myself. She gave suggestions on how to go forward with things, but it was always my choice if I wanted to do what she suggested. I give her a lot of credit for my ability to be self-aware of my own thoughts and feelings and it's that skill that has kept me sane and safe even after I stopped seeing her. I could keep going on, but I think I got my point across: Sharon is amazing. She's knowledgeable, empathetic, and truly cares about her clients. I wish that I didn't live in a different state and that my finances weren't still crap.
