My desktop computer stopped working. I contacted the Computer Center who sent Ivan out to diagnose. Ivan took the computer back to his shop to examine it. He reported that the hard drive was not functioning. I asked him to return the computer and to get paid for his time.He has never returned my computer and has never been paid. He reports that he has been "very, very sick." Be that as it may, I believe he should return my computer or have a friend do so. It's been 8 years since we had Jesse help us with our iMac and yesterday he helped set up and configure our new Mac Mini with a couple of external HD's. I'm kind of bummed to have to drop a star...I've replace a charger for my laptop now 4 (maybe 5) times. I've never had this problem before...All replacements were from them. In fairness, they offer the lowest cost I can find, but they weren't ACTUAL Apple chargers. My biggest complaint is I needed another charger as mine split and I shocked myself so I went to the store today after checking they were open, to replace it yet again. Suddenly, they're closed. No word online that I could find. Called, left a message, no call back. Super disappointed. ________________________ Cannot tell you how happy I am with this place. My 2009 MacBook Pro died on me the other day, Friday. Late Saturday night I emailed this place (knowing they weren't open on weekends) and within an hour at 11pm, I got an email back from Jesse saying it sounds like a battery issue. Big sigh of relief. A very quick response during non-operating hours. I bring it in today and I'm immediately helped. Kevin helped me and he is brilliant. Very nice, albeit very chatty. If you're not in the mood for chatter, don't go there. If you are, he's a great source of information and a very nice guy. He made me very comfortable and provided me with the relief I needed. He ran some checks, battery, power adaptor, virus scan and hard drive test--Said my power adaptor is what needed to be replaced at $50--cheaper than Apple. He recommended RAM as well, with labor free. Instead of having to spend $1200+ on a new laptop, I'm out of there for under $150. Their service is worth more than that. I could not be happier. I called to repair my cracked screen and glass on my MacBook Pro, but was told they are closed for a week. The guy really seemed disinterested. I called back because of the good reviews to see exactly when they were open again, but I was told they aren't taking any new repair orders, for two weeks because of pending Management changes also. After a brief hiccup, everything about this place was excellent. I needed a new solid state drive for my 2012 MacBook Pro and checked the local reviews on Yelp before deciding on this place - local, friendly and knowledgeable. After first contacting them with my specs, they promised to get back to me within a couple of hours to ensure they had the drive I needed, but I had to call back near the end of the day to follow up. No big deal. Kevin was professional and thorough throughout our interactions. Friendly during drop off, timely with the call after the new drive was installed. Afterwards, he helped me track down a serial number on the drive I needed. Totally professional and courteous. One thing I should mention is that when I picked up the drive they were faced with an extremely unpleasant customer - the kind who is never satisfied despite heroic efforts to repair her computers at home - so if there is anything posted here near the date of my posting by an aggrieved customer, just ignore it. After checking out Seagate data recovery's dismal reviews I found this place and its stellar Yelp reviews. I was a cynical how their ratings could be so high but started to realize why when I called and was told if they couldn't get data off my nonfunctioning external drive there would be no charge. When I walked in, I was impressed with the way customers were so delighted with the services they were being provided and the way all their many technicians were collaborating to help solve problems. Yesterday, I was called within three hours of dropping off my external hard drive that they were unable to access data. Their stafff seemed genuinely sorry they could not help me and let me know there would be no charge and tlid me about a reputable data recovery service. This place reaks of integrity and good karma. They weren't able to fix my problem but didn't charge me for their efforts and were willing to help me find someone who could help me. I'm 54 and tech savvy and I have never been to a better computer repairs, service store in my life. I'm a real customer. I was helping a friend who's PC crashed. I told him to buy a Mac! After that I replaced the PSU and it still didn't work. I was unable to determine if it is the CPU or the motherboard. The last thing I wanted to do was take it to a repair place and have some punk talk down to me and try and show me how stupid I am while trying to sell me things I don't need. I read up in yelp and google reviews and Comp Center SC had great reviews. No other repair place in the Santa Cruz area had as many positive reviews. The moment I walked in the energy was great. Both guys said hello and while I waited I listened to them talking with other clients. There was no arrogance or up selling. They were telling clients the truth and offering low cost service with quick timelines. Jesse helped me quickly, committed to 1 day turn around, testing both CPU and Motherboard in less than an hour of labor. Jesse both called and emailed me the next morning. I had dropped the PC off at 3pm and he called the next morning with a resolution at the price quoted. I don't know these guys. I have nothing to do with their company. We were very pleased with the repair of our iMac. We had dead hard drive and no backups( yes, I'm an idiot for this part!). This machine is crucial for my wife's business and livelihood. All sorts of files, client lists, billing info, pricing, expenses, etc, etc. We debated on whether to drive to the Apple Los Gatos store, but our web manager gave this place a high rec. Anyhow, we were really concerned about the disc drive replacement and a hopeful recovery process. It took three days, but all was restored at reasonless price ---we are very satisfied! Note-only minor issue was the blue tooth somehow got messed up in the fix. Took it back and they noticed a wire had gotten loose and they fixed it. I still give it a 5 star rating.... read more

Thank god I met Jesse at a recent networking event and kept his card, because when I accidentally erased all the photos on my computer, I knew just who to call! If you have been using a computer guru who says' "leave it with me and call me next week. I'll see what I can do with it...". STOP! Bring your bad boy to Computer Center Santa Cruz! Actually located in west side of Aptos, free parking right outside. It's before Cabrillo College on your right when you're traveling east on Soquel Ave. I bring my PC notebooks and my Apple Mac books to them when help is needed. Only had to leave a computer overnight one time. I had them replace my spinning hard drive with a solid state drive (good upgrade). So overnight was required. No, I can't guarantee that they will fix your best friend on the spot every time, but from the times I have been there, they seem to prefer getting the problem solved a quickly on the spot as possible. I called Jesse on Memorial Day after getting referred to his business by Cruzio, another strong customer service company. He called me back the day after the holiday and apologized for a late evening call because he was catching up on work after the weekend. Now, that's unique, I thought--an apology for a call the very next day. This was behavior I had never experienced before from a computer service company. Not rare as it turns out for the Computer Center. He talked me through possible issues over the phone and offered various solutions. We talked for over 15 minutes and he suggested sending a Tech, or he'd come by the next week. Tech Ivan was super, making a an appointment the same week, prompt to our home, professional and friendly, and he showed a deep knowledge of our network issues. Everything was completed efficiently and he connected with my 14 year-old to troubleshoot a communication problem between our Samsung TV and the Mac Airport router, conversation which was way over my head. He even showed him how to connect his cell phone to the Samsung; why anyone would want to do that is beyond me, but my kid loved it and knew immediately its potential. Highest recommendation.
