Found this place after we watched a movie downtown. We arrived at 6pm and the host told us it would be a 30-40 minute wait and to go next door to the bar and he would come get us. (There were about 50 people in the bar and every one of them was hammered. It was super uncomfortable.) When we were sat at our table we ordered the trio appetizer which has fresh guacamole, cheese dip and salsa. They brought us the salsa trio only and disappeared so we ate it. When he returned I asked about the guac and cheese and he ran away to go get it instead of explaining. He returned with the exact same salsas lol 10 minutes later he brought the guacamole and cheese so we ended up with 3 appetizers. My husband and I ordered the "jam bowl" which is shrimp chicken and chorizo. It comes jambalaya style over rice and is spicy. (Not too hot spicy but make your nose run spicy.) also the chorizo is overpowering and that is all you can really taste. It is difficult to tell what you are eating as it all looks the same in the brown sauce. My daughter ordered Asada bowl. She said the steak was good but everything else was "ok" We might try it again in the future when we are downtown. read more

I came here on a Sunday night with friends and it was empty! There were only a few people at the bar and none that were dining in for dinner. We got seated very quickly and had a very outgoing and cheerful waitress. We got seated at the booth right in front of their "fire place" which was very pretty but disappointingly found out that it wasn't a real fire place with heat. It was still pretty to see though. The restaurant's menu online is different from what you'll see at the place. I guess they have seasonal menus that change every so often. The waitress told us about their special drinks and entrees which weren't on the menu so be sure to ask about them if you're interested! I got the muy grande burrito which was good but it had way too many beans. It was loaded with black beans and it comes with pinto beans on the side as well. I also paid $2 more for the steak but there wasn't much steak in the burrito. It also had pieces of chicken in it which was weird. The waitress told me that the salsas came on the side but they were just placed on top of the burrito instead. The rice seemed a little under cooked but overall, it was good. I probably wouldn't spend $15 on it again but it was a good experience. read more

I should award this place 4-5 stars, but my last 3 experiences have just been worse and worse. 3 meals ago, they messed up our bills so bad it took like 30 minutes and 2 managers to figure it out. 2 ago we had to wait over an hour for our reservation table to be ready, and it took forEVER to get drinks. This time they messed up my order....twice. But I still go back because of my previous amazing experiences. But, sadly, kind of getting tired of this place. And oh yeah, they took my FAVORITE thing off the menu. I am SO upset!!!! It'll take friends or family wanting to go out for me to return. *sigh* Tried the place 1 more time in the new location. The hostess neglected to tell us how long of a wait it would be, ended up waiting 40 minutes. I had to get my own silverware, my salad tasted bitter and like it's wasn't rinsed. My mid-week visit was my second time going to Rebos for dinner. This is a really neat place in downtown Sioux city with some very unique, original and also very good food! The cocktails and margaritas are also very good and original. I would describe the menu as a modern Tex-Mex, again with some original menu items. I ordered a house lime margarita and the Grande Burrito with a house-made carnitas filling. All I can say is WOW! (please see attached photo) My Happy Hour margarita was delicious and also served in a large glass, which-looked more like a double! The burrito was also great! Made fresh, served nice and hot and with a very nice flavorful filling blend of the carnitas, black beans, rice etc. The burrito was topped with a salsa verde and a sour cream drizzle. Very nice burrito and also a large portion- had to take about 1/3 of it home. Chandra also provided attentive but not intrusive service. No. This was our first time at Rebo's and we were less than impressed. Who ever wrote their menu is keeping them in business. The menu make the food sound fantastic! Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment! The Rebos Q is absolutely inedible. It's a greasy, clump of half melted cheese. The waitress was dressed like she was going out to a club and her hair was hanging into the plates of food. So gross! I did feel a bit sorry for her. She was the only one waiting tables on a Saturday night. Not a single person we interacted with was friendly or inviting. The entire experience was just a huge let down. read more

Ambience is seriously lacking and combined with poor service and mediocre food, Rebos needs some work. We ordered bacon-wrapped shrimp and the bacon wasn't cooked through. The presentation consisted of shrimp plopped in the middle of a white dinner plate. Our entrees came out while we were still eating appetizers, resulting in a very crowded table and a sense of being rushed. Sorry to see a once-enjoyed restaurant go so far downhill. read more

I would give this place 5 stars for the service and environment. They have great vegetarian/vegan options but the dish I had was too flavorful/salty for my mouth to handle. Rebo's used to be my favorite restaurant in the area and I would eat their often. Since the reopen, the quality of the food has declined. Also, they finally have a manager for the front of the house and enough wait staff to have quality service. Unfortunately, the manager doesn't seem to have run a restaurant before and the service is horrendous. I've eaten here 4 times since the reopen and each time has been a disaster in its own unique way. I will not be going back. read more

Delicious! $10.95= good price Elephant Butte Burrito- Good; could have used more seasoning/pizzazz on the meat. Generous portion. $13.95= good price Service- Food arrived quickly after ordering. Asked the server for 2 things and received neither. In fairness to her, it seemed that she was waiting 5 tables, hostessing, attending bar, and bussing tables by herself. I was a little tentative, selecting this place. I thought maybe Sioux City might not be the best place for interesting flavors - but I was wrong! I had the Tijuana Trainwreck, which I couldn't finish but kept wishing I could. Their fresh salsa and house made chips were great and their menu was really varied. Not traditional or even Americanized Mexican or texmex. Very different and delicious. Plenty of seating in a spacious area with a full bar. The only criticism, which doesn't even warrant a star demerit, is it's really hard to read the menus in the dim light. We had to use our phone flashlights. The food was ok. Everything had a lot of cheese and as cheddar cheese does when melted, the oil separated off. Made the dishes a but greasy and saturated. The flavor was still pretty good. Rebos is open for lunch and dinner, but is closed Mondays. Parking can be hard to come by in the evenings as its location is among several stores, salons, restaurants and bars, and also the downtown movie theater. Reservations are available. They have daily specials and a full bar. Once a month they have a special wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres. My personal recommendations are "Black and White Pizza" - wood-fire, thin crust pizza with black beans, chicken, and jalapenos with a white sauce and jalapeno ranch dipping sauce on the side, and the "Evil Creole Pasta" - blackened chicken and sauteed veggies over pasta with marinara sauce (you can get it "evil", hot, or mild). This place has a neat atmosphere. It is very original for Sioux City. I liked the food it has a lot of flavor, but the menu definitely lends itself to people who like spicy adventurous food. Less adventurous eaters may have a hard time finding something. The service seems to be pretty good. We had an over cooked flat bread pizza and the waitress had the kitchen cook a new one with no fuss at all. There is a soft spot in my heart for Rebo's.... so many good times over carafes of $5 sangria on Wednesday nights! This place has a great variety menu of unique dishes, especially compared to most casual dinning places in Sioux City. If you want something different, go to Rebos. Great casual atmosphere, but I recommend calling ahead with a reservation, or you can usually get a good spot at the bar, which is nice. I had a great pasta dish. Came in three spice levels: Medium, Hot, and Fire...or something like that. I went with Hot and loved it. Probably would opt for Medium next time though, which is rare for me because I usually love some spiciness. read more

Not good. Ordered fried fish tacos and they were soggy. Appetizer platter was pathetic. Guac was blah boring. Chips were stale tasting.. My son's enchiladas were so-so. 2 stars = "meh, I've had better" on Yelp. Well-intentioned but very inexperienced server. Food: Salsa sampler -- OK. Buffalo cauliflower -- excellent. Peanut sauce was a great addition. House salad -- decent for a house salad. Grilled chicken in Alfredo sauce over zucchini & buttternut spirals -- so much wasted potential. The "pasta" dish came in a soup bowl, which was appropriate, because it was a very large bowl of sauce, in which some pieces of grilled chicken and presumably the veggie spirals were absolutely drowned. We're talking so much sauce that the bowl sloshed like it was full of soup. My suggestion for customers: order the sauce on the side. My suggestion for the chef: The spirals & chicken should actually be visible. Then add a moderate amount of sauce on top, ensuring that the entree itself remains visible and is not submerged in what was easily an inch of Alfredo. If you need a bowl to serve this dish, you have TOO DAMN MUCH SAUCE on there. read more

Terrible service today attempting to get my to go order. They charged me for the wrong food. I still don't have a refund on my card for it. They then attempted to run my card again like 5 more times getting an error each time. The bartender acted put out and as if it was all my fault. Ended up leaving without our food because my card was not working after the "supposed wrong charge refund". I'll miss the black n white because I will no longer support them. Rebos has always been my favorite place to eat in Sioux City. Every time I ate here, I knew my food would be exceptional and service second to none. Unfortunately, with great disappointment, last night was nothing close to my usual experience at Rebos. Upon entering I was not greeted, I had to catch the server's attention and ask for a table. The usual salad I ordered looked completely different and made with what seemed to be lower quality ingredients. The atmosphere has changed for the worse, our server's attire was not in line with Rebos's dining, in fact quite unappetizing. I had direct view of who I assume was a cook, eating chips right out of the bin that sits under the warmer multiple times. I was really excited that Sioux City had this Gem of a restaurant with great quality food, a unique menu and a fun, inviting vibe but the rumors I have been hearing were confirmed with my experience last night. It hurts my heart to say Rebos quality in all aspects have gone down the drain. Hoping this post will provide some insight before it's too late. Unfortunately, I have to move my rating down to 3 stars for Rebos. The reason for this is salt. I ate again here recently and tried the chili con carne. Having not drunk any alcoholic beverages, I noticed the dish was excessively salty. I asked my friends if there dishes were salty as well and they agreed someone was a little heavy-handed with the salt in the kitchen. I returned another day for lunch and had my favorite, the Cuban sandwich with potatoes. I enjoyed the sandwich (as usual), but noticed the very salty flavor of the potatoes. I would recommend this place for people who enjoy uniquely flavored food, large portions, and salt. I wouldn't recommend this place for people suffering from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or who are on a sodium-restricted diet. read more

The worst service I have EVER had anywhere! Food not cooked all the way. Did not offer to fix or even ask what was wrong after waitress took away after one bite yet expected me to pay for it. When the waitress took my uneaten plate she said nothing and left me no time to explain why it wasnt eaten. The bill came, I told her I would pay for everything but the main dish because it wasnt cooked all of the way. Her response,"my manager said its not our fault you didn't like the food." The managers first words to me were, " I don't know where you're from, but around here people pay for the food they order." Manager continued raised voice to me and cursed at me in front of customers. I didn't approach situation in rude manor yet was treated in a rude manor. I really wanted to give this more than one star...trust me. I was visiting my parents from Austin, TX and my sister and I were missing our once-a-day Mexican food, decided to go to Rebo's since there are few places on a Sunday that are even open in Sioux City, and we would rather visit a local establishment since we don't do the whole chain food thing. The service was pretty bad, and it was FREEZING inside of the restaurant, as well as super smokey due to what seemed like burnt food. I should have known better when we ordered diet sodas that looked more like iced tea when we received them. The minute we pointed them out to the waitress she said something along the lines of, "I know, we were having problems yesterday. What would you like instead?" Why would she even think that soda that you could see through was okay to serve? We are always willing to forgive bad service for good food--but once our "Q" with "Chorizo" came out after 30 minutes of waiting, we knew we were done for. We live in the heart of great Queso, and although this was definitely cheese of some sort, we needed to cut it with a knife to even eat it by the time it got to our table. Also, the "chorizo" tasted like hamburger with taco seasoning. Super greasy and NOT chorizo. Then, we got about ten chips with our "Q" and when I asked for more, the waitress was less than friendly when she told me that they were making more and they would be out soon. We got a few more chips about ten minutes later. Our entrees finally came and my enchiladas had little to none sauce on them (more like tacos), and raw onions covering them. I'm not sure what NewMexiCaribbean is supposed to mean, but the beans were regular brown beans with some un-melted cheese sprinkled atop and the rice was dry with corn in it. It was all very strange/disconnected and very disappointing. I had been here a few years ago and was never so happy to leave. I love the atmosphere of 4th street and I want local businesses to thrive in this town, but I couldn't walk away from this without saying something in hopes that the owners will take note.
