The service isn't that bad but the person I got could barely speak English. I got a chicken quesadilla with out sour cream on it. When it came out after about 10 minutes it hade no sour cream on it so that was good but the chicken was so mushy and the cheese was like hard and dried up and I was with my mom she got nachos. when she opened the container a bug came out! Order a asada burrito with Asada, cheese, sour cream and French fries in the burrito it's called a california burrito in Cali or a Arizona burrito in Arizona it hits the spot everytime and the chili cheese fries minus onions fiiiiire! love this place and the cooks! I'd like to give this place 4 stars because the burgers were good but... the place was dirty. I hadn't noticed until I went to find a seat after I preferred. The floors looked like they had not been swept all day and when I threw my trash the cans were dirty and looked like they had not been wiped since they opened that day. The tables were clean and when I looked into the kitchen from what I could see it was as dirty. I would have turned around and walked out if I was more attentive to the lack of cleanliness. You'd think a non-chain would their best to be better than a chain, but not this place. I like holes in the wall and visit them often, but this is not one of those deserving of that. Perhaps it was a bad day for them but they het one chance to make a first impression. And a clean restaurant will make or break for me. I suggest you stay away from Jims Burgers! read more

I used to like Jim's until about 6 months ago when a new girl started working there. The Hispanic woman behind the counter always was attentive and very personable. However this new girl with long hair and glasses started working there. She was rude and literally walked away in the middle of me ordering. The other lady came out and fixed our order. I vowed to NEVER come back. But it's been a while so i put myself out there and came again. I walked in and the workers saw me but continued to keep talking. I waited 10 minutes. They acted like I was interrupting them and putting them out. Again, I thought I'd never come back, but 1 more time, a week ago I ordered a cheeseburger combo. I was very specific. I told them mayo, mustard and tomato. When I got home I had a cheeseburger with nothing but ketchup. When we contacted the restaurant they argued that they didn't make a mistake. I'm a native Sioux City girl that comes back to visit family about once a year. Living in DC where everything is Salvadorean or Peruvian, a Mexican stop was a must do, and I do it often. I have been married to La Juanita's for life, so it took a LOT of coaxing to try out Jim's Burger instead - especially when the name doesn't sound like Mexican food. However, people, this place is amazing! I've never had a burger there for the simple fact that you can get a good burger in the Midwest just about anywhere. TRY THE BREAKFAST BURRITOS! The combination is my favorite, but I assume all are good. They weigh about a pound each, no joke, so I usually share with my mom or husband. Their red and green hot sauces are not very hot (the green isn't at all), but are very tasty and a delightful addition to the burrito. Their pickled carrots are free and a must have as well. They sit on the counter where you order or ask for them when you drive through. They also sell cheese balls! This was exciting for me because I can't find them anywhere outside of the Midwest. For me, eating here is like two birds + one stone. One order supplies about 30 balls, with ranch if you want it, and it's inexpensive at about $3.00. I believe the burritos are around $3-5, but so worth it considering it feeds two. I've eaten at the Gordon and Leeds locations and both are fantastic. The interior of the Gordon location is always immaculately clean and well organized. There is table service for coffee refills and plate clearing, so it's like a pseudo cafe. I've never eaten inside of the Leeds location so I can't attest to that, but their drive through is reliable. TIP: If you're getting burritos, call your order in about 5-10 minutes before you get there. Everything is cooked to order, hot and fresh, so it may take a few minutes of waiting for it. read more

I got the double cheeseburger at the Gordon location. It was ok. Not the best burger but certainly not bad. $7 I wish they seasoned the meat a bit. I also had the fried zucchini. $2.50 It was fried just right lightly salted and served with ranch. They have Coke products and also horchata. There are quite a few burger & sandwich choices as well as Mexican food. They have $1 tacos ($1.25 w/ cheese) but I didn't try any. Staff was friendly enough. Ok I'm gonna shoot you straight. I have an obsession with breakfast burritos. So I ordered the combo which has bacon hash browns, sausage, eggs etc. It was a wondrous experience. The wrapping was a neatly folded yellow paper around it. The burrito was BIG. I savored every bite. Watch the salsa they give you with it. It can light you up if freely added. I have been to 1 Jim's Burger location in Sioux City (downtown around Nebraska/7th st area or so) as well as their location in Le Mars, IA. This is a great place, they have excellent value as far as portions vs what you pay. I love their taquitos and my husband loves their steak burritos, you can either get one without sauce or have the sauce poured over the top and served with tortilla chips. They are so big that he can barely eat the whole thing and often has to save half of it for leftovers the next day. Huge amount of meat and quality of meat for the price compared to a bigger Mexican restaurant. I have also tried some of their tacos. The al pastor is of course not 100% authentic like you get in Mexico for health regulation reasons, but is decently flavored. Overall the tacos are just what you would expect with 2 corn tortillas, onion and cilantro, and some sauces to add to them. Some of the most authentic Mexican food I have had in NW Iowa! The horchata is also divine, agua de jamaica isn't my taste but they do it authentically as well and if you are into that sort of taste it would meet expectations. They also have a large selection of both breakfast items and typical American diner food such as burgers and sandwiches. I have never tried them, as I am so excited about the authentic Mexican, but from the quality of the Mexican food the American style food is great as well, I'm sure.
