I saw a doctor a month ago and have been trying to follow his recommendation to set up surgery. Over a month, I have left 3 messages for the surgery scheduler. Today, after leaving another message I received a call back from an appointment scheduler who said the surgery schedulers are backed up and would be contacting me. Management is not setting best practices in place, and one has to wait a month to hear back that they will call me back to set up a surgery date. Surgery is backlogged to six months out, but after waiting a month, it will be longer, like seven months to schedule a surgery. If a person has called once, and up to two times, take a number and have a dedicated person call back that patient wanting to schedule surgery. Let them know they received the voicemail and that a surgery scheduler will call back to set up the surgery. read more

Horrible experience. Dr Gramstad is your stereotypical, arrogant, surgeon type with a complete lack of respect for his patients. I have been in excruciating pain for 3 months and he was more interested in getting me out than in helping me, probably because he didn't see a surgery in his future. I walked out of there in tears. 1. He was 50 minutes late to my appt. Show some respect for schedules other than yours, Doc. If you can't handle it, lighten your load. 2. He didn't even bother to introduce himself. Yeah, I know your name but basic politeness should not be beneath you. 3. He obviously didn't care about my pain and his only goal was to get me out as fast as possible. I don't need surgery on my shoulder, so he interrupted me and wouldn't let me get my questions out. 4. He didn't explain anything. He said I was showing "some signs of bursitis" and prescribed me something. Since he didn't take the time to tell me what bursitis is or why he thinks that, it sounded a lot like a BS "diagnosis" in which his intention was to write me a RX so I felt like I got something out of the appointment. I didn't. 5. He told me, right in front of the scheduler, to schedule a follow up in 2-3 weeks. She proceeded to offer me an appointment in 5 weeks and he said nothing. He didn't even pretend to care. I mean, hopefully he is a good surgeon and I sure hope he spends more time with his high revenue potential patients than little ol' me, but how you treat anyone is how you treat everyone. read more

I've upgraded my review. The doctors are still spectacular and administration seems improved. Still some issues with administrative staff not understanding their own processes and hiccups, but I am not regularly having to wait and extended period of time to see my provider. This company is shady and uncommunicative. They will perform tests that are unnecessary to increase your bill. They do not give options or alternatives. The billing staff is uninformed and unhelpful. If you want treatment with good care, reliable employees, and transparency then avoid this business all together. I.e. X-rays unrelated to my visit. Braces that they didn't check were covered by insurance. Employee lying about dispute process. After months of trying to dispute a bill, they closed the appeal without informing me and moved straight to collections. read more

I recently consulted with Dr. Cottrill, for my back. 2 other friends saw doctors at Rebound for shoulder injuries. All three of us have had good results and recommend this facility, it's staff and it's doctors if you are looking for someone to help you. In one case my friend had a shoulder separation and needed surgery. They were able to schedule him in a way that impacted his work as little as possible, got him in for rehab, and today he is enjoying full use of his arm and shoulder again without the pain, lack of strength, and limitations of movement that had bothered him for a very long time. In the other case a doctor at Johns Hopkins diagnosed a similar shoulder separation and my friend decided to get a 2nd opinion at Rebound. After a long consultation and close study of all the available images and reports, it was discovered that this was a rotator cuff issue and not a shoulder separation - huge difference! No surgery, rehab only and today he has regained both strength and mobility. In my case I have had decades of chronic pain and a level of disability associated with a back injury. This year it seemed to be worsening and I went to a local back surgeon for a new MRI and her opinion. Her opinion was that I should try a painkiller (I don't take any painkillers, which she would have discovered if she had talked me for even a couple of minutes). I was demoralized and depressed. The stress of dealing with chronic pain really wears you down and can sap your spirit. On the recommendation of my two friends who I just mentioned, I made an appointment at Rebound to see if they had some ideas. I lucked out and got a last minute appointment with Dr. Cottrill. He took his time and sincerely listened to me. He asked good questions and guided what might have been my stressed out frantic rambling into a more coherent, articulate narrative that told him what he needed to know. He took into consideration my preferences (high functioning, athletic, strongly anti-painkiller), and my style of learning and embracing the world (analytical, evidence based). He showed me slides from the MRI and pointed out where he thought certain pains were coming from, and helped me understand what I could expect both short and long term. We talked a long time. He is going to refer me to physical therapy for some new moves and strategies for when it gets really bad (my level and style of fitness makes basic pt unnecessary - I'm already doing all that stuff!). It's the first time in 20 years that I haven't left a doctor's office in tears - from frustration, hopelessness, and the feeling that the future is a terrifying landscape of ever increasing pain and limitations. Instead, I left Rebound feeling strong, hopeful. My confidence that I can deal with this was renewed. Instead of feeling broken, I felt uplifted. For the first time I felt like someone had listened to me, the person, and not just seen me as a meat bag full of symptoms. There is no magic cure for me, but that's not as distressing as it was a couple of days ago. Because now I feel like I've got this doctor and his team in my corner. Never give up. If your current team isn't doing it for you, see if this one at Rebound is a good fit. Keep trying, keep moving forward, never stop. read more

It seems that physical therapy locations in the Portland area are a lot like contractors, most of them are poorly ran and cannot be trusted to take care of business. Rebound is just such a place...... I had a torn calf muscle (3 times over the course of a year and a half) and I was trying to get an appointment with Rebound. I called them on the phone and was asked to bring them copies of my reports on the torn muscle. I had someone personally deliver these to the clinic and were given to Doug with Rebound. I was brought back his card as the person they were handed to and told a story about the delivery, how he was sitting on a leg workout bench just lightly working his legs and staring at the girl who delivered for me, like leering type staring up and down. I never heard back from Rebound so I called them. I left 2 voice mails for Doug with no call back. I sent him an email stating that I had left him a couple of voice mails and my packet was delivered to him several weeks ago, no response. I sent another email a week later and he finally responded. Doug stated that my packet must have delivered to the Dr.s in the office as he didn't get them and he wished me good luck. Doug also stated he has been out of town for 3 weeks and could not have received my packet. Note, this has been more than 3 weeks since my initial phone calls and email to him, which in my email I stated it had been 3 weeks since the drop off. Do the math Mr. Rebound. I responded again that it was indeed him and described the delivery, girl with 2 kids and where he was sitting when dropped off to him. He responded he didn't recall that and wished me luck. NOT ONCE even offering assistance or owning up to him either being a complete idiot who loses paperwork or that he just didn't want a new patient. This place is another in the line of horribly ran PT services. read more

Had an injury to my shoulder and elbow that needed to be looked at urgently as I'm in so much pain and could even sleep even medicated... called Rebound Orthopedic to schedule an appointment they push my appointment to a month.. had to endure the pain for more than a month and waited for my scheduled appointment ! At the time and day of my appointment I was told that the doctor was on and can't see me and no other doctor available at the clinic can and wanted to schedule a new appointment a month after which now will be 2 months after my injury... I was furious as I lost a day of work to make this appointment work in the middle of the day...unprofessional staff they didn't even told me that the doctor wasn't available until I got to the clinic on my appointment time.. !!! Apologizing will not work as they won't pay me for my lost time and also all the wait with so much pain !!! Never going back to this clinic and never will deal with them anymore I will not recommend this clinic to anybody !!! read more

I have had shoulder pain for a few months now and have been absolutely miserable. It has affected my ability to workout, keeps me awake, and makes my workday miserable. I went to Rebound after two people recommended it. I was given an x-ray to rule out bone spurs. I really wish they had done an MRI. The PT I eventually started seeing at Providence does believe I have an impingement, and an MRI would have confirmed that as well as opened the possibility of surgery and ending this agony. They diagnosed me with bicep tendonitis and referred me out for PT. I have no idea why they didn't want me to see their PT's, and I had to search and search for a PT in my Providence network. I finally started going to Providence Rehab and after a month I am still in pain. Overall my experience was ok - the doc was nice and I didn't have to wait for my appointment. I did feel farmed out when they basically printed out a list of PT's to try to get an appointment with - when they offer those services there. read more

Admittedly, my experience with Orthopedics is quite limited. Really, it's only encompassed visits with Dr. Ellis at Rebound. I have been seeing Dr. Ellis since 2013 for a variety of left shoulder & bicep tendon issues. Despite the fact Ellis is a surgeon, who are notorious for wanting to cut, Dr. Ellis has never offered surgery as a first option. In fact, to the contrary, he has recommended non-surgical interventions time and again. Today, I saw him for a follow-up on a bicep tendon issue that simply isn't getting better. He was frank and honest with me about my options, and again, offered surgery as a reasonable option only after trying everything else possible. He was plain that it may not work but emphasized it is a simple surgery with minimal recovery time. I highly recommend Ellis as a shoulder specialist, and Rebound overall as a very professional, comprehensive, and competent facility. Thank you for you the care! read more

Dr. Mark Colville was my knee surgeon in 2004 for an ACL tear and my results were really amazing. Now, 4 years later, I don't even think about the fact that I had surgery. I even went running a couple months ago and was surprised that my knee hurt by the end of my session. When I changed to shower after my run, I looked down to check out my knee and the biggest surprise was that it was the other non-surgery knee that was hurting! Its been so long and my recovery so complete that I completely forgot which knee I had worked on. Dr. Colville was also great to work with - up front and clear about my choices and the pros and cons of each. He never pressured me to make any decisions about my care that I wasn't comfortable with. While I hope I never have to see him again because I don't enjoy surgery... if I do I will know I'm in good hands. read more

TOTAL Knee Replacement BEWARE ! there are 200,000 knee replacements a year . What they don't tell you is 30,000 have problems . this is 15% of knee replacements people maybe having life changing problems for the rest of there lives . At 48 yrs old had a Total Knee Replacement in 2011. Dr. S. told me that all my pain would go away and this would straighten my leg so it wouldn't be bull legged . You guessed it , pain and bull legged. Went back and told him my problems and was told every thing is working as designed . BS , I'm in all kinds of pain and bulled . After 1 1/2 years after surgery I folded up my Business and went on Disability . I have been working since 7th grade . Several years of Depression and pain meds . So around 2017 had someone besides Rebound look at my knee and was told that its NOT functioning as designed . I have been telling Rebound that something was wrong , but not accordingly to them its fine . Just be aware that these Doctors are not God and at Rebound from my experience in dealing with them since 1997 , 6 Surguries , I went from a Patient to a Number . read more

I have a fair bit of experience with orthopedists, having worked with them in a variety of clinical and research settings. Dr. R. Wendell Pierce is exceptionally good. His technical skill acquired over a long and successful career is matched well with his soothing bedside manner and clear explanations. My wife had broken her distal radius and had been seen in an emergency department in rural northern California. She had a slightly rotated radial head that needed to be aligned with a closed reduction. He knew exactly what he was doing, and under lidocaine got the radial head aligned so the wrist would have adequate flexion and extension. Chris, the ortho technologist put on an excellent Munster cast that will keep the aligned radial head in place, preventing rotation (supination & pronation) but allowed elbow motion. We'll see next week if this effort was successful, or if surgery will be needed. They saw us very quickly although the scheduling and front office staff was only adequate. At least they had a spot for us. Rebound came recommend by a local pediatric orthopedist I have know for 25 years, so their reputation appears to have spread to other professionals better able to judge their technical competence than I. Plenty of free parking in the basement, and even a spot for my car with bikes on top! Highly recommend...but I haven't got the bill yet. read more

An unnessary back operation by Andrew Nemecek, and he knowing full well it would not be of any value. Last visit he told me not to think about if the operation worked or if it is the Gabepenten (sp). So, I have returned to my GP for advice on RX. I will never allow a back peration again! Certainly not from Rebound. A big thumbs down to Nemecek!!!! I had to have a medial patellofemoral ligament replacement and was referred to Dr. Ellis. The last 6 months post-surgery I have had regular follow-up visits. Rebound itself is great for scheduling quickly and having the resources available to make sure you are treated quickly. I never had a wait time. The staff that changed my bandages and helped me with new knee braces were friendly and helpful. It was a rough recovery but in the end, it was completely worth it and has changed my life. Dr. Ellis makes sure he has all the information, recommends the least invasive surgery options, and keeps up to date on new medical research that helps to inform his decisions. I'm confident in the abilities of Dr. Ellis and would highly recommend him for anyone needing knee surgeries. read more

My family members had gone to Rebound with good results. I had several issues when I went there and wanted their advice about what the best strategy would be since I had both horrible shoulder pain and left hip pain. Immediately they focused on my spine, insisting that I follow that surgery path. As the months passed and I was passed around to three different doctors, when I insisted the pain from my shoulder was impairing my work. In the end they literally held my shoulder surgery hostage insisting that I would be more motivated to jump on the spine surgery plan, with the idea...then...they would deal with the shoulder. OK, 2 years later after getting a great surgical outcome on shoulder at Vancouver clinic, I had a crisis with my left hip. YES....another provider system did more exams and determined the problem is my hip joint. Now, with a new hip, my extreme pain and years of delay are relieved. Yes, I have a bad spine, but the arrogance of the doctors at Rebound delayed my care. I tried everything to get a "redo" with them to look at my shoulder right away and even a second doctor at Rebound made it clear that they stick to the original doctor's recommendation. Arrogance puts you at risk as a patient. Get a second opinion! read more

The truth is that I have never been to this practice. Why? Because they have never followed through with a single call or request for assistance. I waited for them to get my medical records and didn't hear jack diddly from them. Something has changed here in the past months - Dr's always running late and long waits (up to one hour). This just doesn't work for those of us who set an appointment and hold a job. No respect for the patient on this level. In addition, I've had a series of appointments for an ongoing injury and Rebound calls me to see "what my appointment if for." Are you kidding? I tore my meniscus a few months ago. After my first apt. I was told to wait it out and that I could get back on the court and play in 4 weeks and if it wasn't better they would schedule a MRI. 4 weeks later I stepped on the court and ended up tearing some ligaments and tendons in my ankle (freak accident). I called, after recommendation by urgent care to have my orthopedic doc look at it, to make an apt and it took a couple weeks to get in- mind you I was on crutches and a ridiculously large boot during this time.. Got there and was basically told to wait 8 weeks and if I still had pain to contact them again for an MRI. Now, three months past the knee, and two months past the ankle still in pain and had an MRI on both. I called to get the results and they said they did not know when they would get back to me, but if I did not receive a call in 4 days to go ahead and give them a call back....I have already waited 4 days on top of the newly quoted 4 days. Really?!?!?! Anyway I have pretty much discovered that if you are not affiliated with any of the organizations listed on their main page you get treated like a step child. The doctors are knowledgeable, but it is unfortunate that the service takes away from what could be a good experience. read more

My review is for Luise, one of the massage therapists. She was great. She talked with me before the massage began and then completely designed the massage on what she thought would help me best. She played relaxing music, talked only a couple times to ask me how the massage was (pain, pressure, etc). Afterwards she even taught me specific stretches that she thought would further help my issues. My only complaint, which has nothing to do with Luise, is a very rude receptionist at the front desk. It was my first time there and I did not know I had to go around the corner to check in for a massage, while she dealt with other appointments. She looked at me with a irritated look and did not say anything to me after I walked in. I finally approached the desk (as no one else was up there being helped) and asked if this was where I checked in. She was very short, asked why I was there, and after telling her it was for a massage, she told me that I was talking to the wrong person. She was very rude and acted as if I was an annoyance. Once I got around the corner to the guy at the other desk he was very polite and I had no more problems. There was another receptionist that was working on the left side of the check in area that seemed much nicer, however the girl at the front was rude to me as well as another girl who checked in right after I did. Overall a good experience, however if I were management I would find someone who could treat the clients/patients with some respect, as she was the first person I saw when I walked through the door. I went to rebound due to the big hype. Come to find out rebound physical therapy and the actual "rebound sports medicine" are two different entities. My first visit wasn't bad the owners wife was very polite and nice had set me up for my next appointment for 11/30 @ 11:45. 11/30 @ 11:42 waiting in the center to be check in or at least greeted youd think. One physical therapist helping out another patient 12pm still no sign of anyone even acknowledging me its as if I'm a ghost. Keep in mind the physical therapist that is helping the other patient has made eyed contact with me several time mean while the "owner" is sitting in the room with a wide window and chooses not to acknowledge my excitants. I'm a very patient person. 12:04pm ball park finally the threapists that is helping out the other patients comes up to me and says do u have an appointment. Told him yes! Goes into the room with the guy behind the window that overlooks the training area telling him I'm here. Comes out with a very generous meet and greet and is getting ready to help me get better then about 3 mins into that another gentlemen comes in and says he there for his 12pm app (new appointment 1st time keep in mind this is my second time) first time with an actual physical threap . Doug a.k.a the owner after already starting with me tell's to get my 15min massage then tells me he will work with me after hes start's with the new guy. Btw, the massage therapists there is ONE OF THE BEST!!!! I was disappointed I couldn't get a massage for more then 15min they told me that the insurance wouldn't pay for it. didn't make any sense to me, soo okay I'll roll with it. I come back out and Doug is asking me to turn my neck as much as I could. I couldn't turn that much so Doug started to laugh at me because I couldn't move my neck. His reply was *laughing* that's it!!!! 12/3 @ 2:20pm Doug starts helping me doing pull down during this he asking question's but not making eye contact with me. Typically when someone ask you a question they make contact with you. About 10 min's into my actual training I ask him if I was going to be charge for the full hour sense I have a right to know it's my money I would like to know if I'm getting billed for waiting and I ask him what they would do. He then blew up at me told me to get out and that he didn't want to do business with me "I'm talking loose canon" I thought the guy was going to choke me just went blastic yelling at me saying I was treating him bad and the massage lady. I just ask him a simple question if I would be charged for a full time. The guy was yelling at me "first off your appointment wasn't till 12pm" told him I still have the card that told me 11:45 told me I was lieing ask me to look at his schedule. To make a long story short I was very impressed with Dougs knowledge and was confident that he was going to be the one to help me get better. Personally I would never refer anyone to his business EVER!!! The guy is very temper mental from my experience and I don't feel that his work environment is professional from what took place. Very unprofessional!!!! You don't flip out on customer and loose your temper like that especially over something so small and simple. Imagine if it was something big.. Who knows!! I'm very disappointed that this arrangement didn't work out was looking forward and actually believe that this guy was going to help me get better. After he be little me as I was cause he told me he didn't want my business and that he wouldn't charge me for my 3 visit told him I didn't mind paying him I just wanted in broken down into detail he told me your not getting it im not going to charge you. I said Thankyou and sorry this didn't work out shook his hand and told him to have a nice day and walk out doing so he laugh at me the hole time. I was depress for hours still em a little. I would call this the worst medical treatment I have ever received, if they had actually done anything: I contacted Rebound to seek treatment for a stress fracture in my leg from running. At my first appointment, they were over 45 minutes late, and this was after registering online to "speed up" the process. The PA that saw me had no idea what to do for treatment, so he did nothing except recommend a MRI. I left the first appointment with no treatment, not even a suggestion to take aspirin for the pain. The MRI scheduler took 4 days to schedule me, for two weeks later. It took another two weeks to get an appointment to review the MRI. The same PA saw me again, and again did not have any idea what to do for treatment. He actually asked me what I thought should be done! He finally settled for Physical therapy, at one of their facilities. The physical therapy scheduler took 4 days to schedule an appointment, their first opening was over three weeks out. In short, I would have been much better seeking advice from anyone, including an auto mechanic, and would have saved weeks of waiting, and thousands of dollars. These guys sure tout themselves as being the best around, even displaying the local professional sports teams as their clients, but I can't imagine receiving worse treatment. read more
