I never leave reviews, but needed to after the recent transaction and delivery. Mark was excellent to work with over the phone. There was a small hiccup in the order process, but I was able to work with them to get a nicer washer/dryer for a similar price. The real MVPs of this were John and Trey. This was a tight walk-up for the delivery (lots of measurements taken). They busted tail and got it done, and I don't think this would have happened if they weren't the ones delivering it. It's been a while since I made the purchase but I really would like to leave an honest review due to my experience. I don't ever leave reviews however, I often read reviews and find them helpful, so hopefully this review is helpful to someone else. My oven range unfortunately died on me. The oven that was in our home was a drop-in oven range, which can be hard to find so we decided to get it from Recker & Bergenr. We spent approximately $1500 to replace our oven. After purchasing, it took 5 MONTHS for us to receive the oven. Once received, it was the wrong oven. When we called the company to tell them that it was a different oven than the one we purchased, the sales rep Amy Siebenburgen, told us that we should be happy because its an "upgrade" from the oven that we actually purchased. In order to receive the oven we actually purchased, we would have likely had to wait another extended period of time so we kept it. The oven was actually larger than the cabinetry which caused more issues than anticipated, but we made it work. Fast forward not even 3 months later, the oven door fell off for no apparent reason. I am completely disappointed with the customer service and quality of items that we received and would highly recommend not using this company. read more

I have been using Recker and Boerger for the last 11 years. They recently came out to perform a tune up on my heat pump/AC unit. The technician seemed like they did not know what they were doing and were on a phone chat the entire time with someone walking them through what to do. They said I needed 2lbs of freon added. ($100 per pound, $100 labor). I wanted them to check for a leak, but the technician did not have the appropriate tools with them and said I could reschedule another service visit for $149. Recker and Boerger should have come back out, for free, and checked for a refrigerant leak, but they are only after my money. read more

We had an issue with our old washer. We bought a new washer only to find out the issue was an outlet which was discovered when the new washer was installed. We were told we could return the new washer after we paid $99 to have the new washer picked up and pay $100 for a restocking fee. I will never purchase anything there again. First of all , I have been dealing with recker and boerger for 30 years and was always satisfied with them. They installed my last water heater(which is still under warranty) that has recently developed a leak. I called them to get some information about labor cost to replace ans the tank is still under warranty, so they said they had to have a technician verify the leak and give me a quote. He came in and said, yes it had a leak and proceeded to check the water pressure which he said was too high. I checked it at the same time and it showed 10 psi less. I also told him that these tanks can operate at up to 150 psi so my 72 psi was well within the limits. He then told me they wouldn't install the tank unless I had a $200 pressure relief valve installed. This is nothing more than a money grab. They wanted $975 for labor to replace the same exact tank. I told him to forget it at which point he told me it was $149 service charge to tell me my tank was leaking. Nothing was ever said about a service charge when I called they just said it was tied to the warranty claim. I have three more plumbers coming out and they do not charge to assess the tank. read more

They also left a massive mess and muddied my rug and floor(just had a massive storm system pass through). ITS CALLED SHOE COVERS. Get a box of them on Amazon. They also left garbage behind. Well I have a brand new furnace and A/C unit however I have no idea if the furnace works and the a/c unit is on an extension cord. I had multiple companies out for quotes. The person who came to my home for the quote was Allen he stated he was an owner in the company and had years of experience. What he did not tell me was that he has years of experience ripping off home owners who are not experienced in his industry. I read reviews about the company and felt Allen was a good person, knowledgable and was here to help. Apparently I should have read the reviews on yelp. Once the gas furnace was installed along with the a/c unit I was told OOPs there is no gas line for the furnace and I could hard wire the a/c unit but the boss said not to because he did not want to spend any more time here. Why would you sell me a gas furnace?! the A/C unit was purchased to cool the upstairs of our home and it only freezes my room and bathroom. I still have to leave in the window units in the other bedrooms. They stated that is because the thermostat is in my room, something else Allen failed to mention. Again this is not my line of work. I asked the service person if it was possible to move the thermostat to the hall he said yes but was told no. You need to make this right read more

I bought a water softener in July of 2022. It exploded after 14 months. Of course it's not covered. Their installers have zero idea. They are not qualified installers for HVHC. They took the bypass valve off when they installed it. So when it exploded the water just flooded the basement. Had to turn all water off to the house. When I called them I was informed the manager was not in. He would call me back. Never happened. Called GE the makers and they said it would cost more to fix it than a new one. Sounds like a scam. I bought a refrigerator recently from the Tri County location. I signed up for the 6 month financing. The female sales rep that I worked with entered my name incorrectly when she ran the credit (which I found out later). She said that everything went through. I never received anything from the bank (no card, no bills, etc). I found out that the sales rep entered the incorrect name, but correct SS# and birthdate, on the credit application (i never received a copy of the application, just my bill which was correct.. I called the store as soon as I found out and was told by accounting that they cannot fix it, I need to correct it. The bank would not speak with me since my name was not on the account. Now my account went to collections and it is on my record since the ss# is correct, even though the name was incorrect. The sales rep never apologized for her mistake, she was very rude with me in the store when I asked her about. I was able to get through to someone at the bank finally and had to pay the entire balance off to get it out of collections. so much for 6 months same as cash.....and now I have a hit on my credit report. The bank is filing a claim against them for the mistake they made. The female sales rep was extremely rude through the entire process. I think her name was Lisa. never again!!!!! read more

On July 25 we ordered a new dishwasher and were told that it would be installed on August 1. We were told that we would be receiving telephone calls to confirm the timing of the installation. After receiving no calls I contacted Recker and Boerger and was told that I "mis understood" the delivery date. Not true. My wife and I were both present at the purchase and heard the same date. The store manager has now told us that the dishwasher was never ordered from the manufacturer. A totally different story. So bottom line we are stuck waiting and additional week for the installation. Terrible customer service at best. Please look elsewhere when purchasing appliances. read more

I purchased a Goodman Air Conditioner and after only 4 years of light usage it did not cool. I contacted Recker and Boerger where I purchased it and was told the parts were still under warranty, but I needed to pay for labor which would be $149 for the service call and the first half hour of work. The service person was on premises for 35 minutes with most of the time talking and 15 minutes of work and charged $395 and said the person I spoke to was wrong. I contacted the office and was told that the service person was correct. I will not shop Roeker and Berger again! read more

On 1/10/2020 I paid Recker And Boerger $1099 to replace my existing water heater. On 1/11/2020 the technician came out to attempt to install the water heater- while attempting to install the water heater the technician broke both of my main water shut off valves. The valves were working previously to him arriving. The technician stated he was unable to install my water heater due to a preexisting recirculation tank- which was incorrect- I don't have a recirculating tank. He stated he would have a more advanced tech come look at replacement options. Although he broke my valves he still couldnt install water heater. On 1/14 the more advanced technician came out- After looking at what needed to be done to replace my water heater -he stated the job was too big for Roto Rooter. At that point I reminded him that I now have two broken valves due to Recker Berger. He then stated he would talk with one of the owner Alan Recker to see about the repairs. After speaking with the owner Alan Recker , he now said he could do the repairs and replace my water heater but now they would charge me an additional $900. At that point I asked Alan Recker if they could only do the repairs of the valves they broke. Of course he said no. He stated he would only fix the broken valves if I paid to have the water heater replaced by them. He refused to call the technician to ask about if he applied a wrench to the valves. He also could not tell me when he would even be able to discuss the valves with the technician. The bottom line is that he would only replace the valves if I paid them almost doubled of what I was quoted. Women BUYERS BEWARE!!!! They will take advantage of you in a heartbeat !!! Definitely a case of a scammer company taking advantage of an unknowing Women. Such a headache. I had to pay Roto Rooter to fix what they messed up. read more

I ordered a Samsung convection oven and it was delivered . In 2 weeks later the price dropped $100.00 The stove is still in my living room because of my kitchen renovation, its never been plugged up or moved since delivery I visited the store and was confirmed that it went on sale and the information would be sent to accounting and they would send me a check for the difference. 7 weeks later I haven't received anything. I called back too get information on why I haven't received the difference. One to avoid. I have used this company for HVAC service and installation for years. They used to be very good. Evidently, that has changed. They repaired a boiler for me for $1300, the technician showed me how to maintain it, and told me to call if it started spitting water from the overflow/ condensation drain. Three weeks ago, it started doing just that. I called for a service appointment. I was told I would have to wait three weeks. The technician showed up yesterday, looked at the unit, and without unpacking a tool told me he had no idea how to work on it or repair it. I now have no heat and no hot water. Today, I got to speak with the service manager. He told me that they upgraded their software, and not everything was transferred to the new system. He said that is why they sent the technician they did, and that they didn't know that he would not know how to fix my system. He went on to say that nobody in their company knew how to fix my system. The technician who worked on it before left the company. Waiting that three weeks may have ruined the igniter in my boiler. That's what happened last time, and that's why the technician told me to call if I noticed it spitting. Now, in this cold weather, with no heat or hot water, I am left to try to find someone to come out and repair or replace my system. Allen, the service manager, made it clear that he felt no need or desire to do anything further to help me or my situation. read more

Sold my elderly father a refrigerator and microwave and delivered and installed it. All went well, but within 14 months the fridge died. Sure, that happens. Manufacturer sent a FREE replacement part in a goodwill gesture. I called Recker and Boerger's' ONLY repair provider, A-1 service, they want 70% of the cost of the refrigerator to change the compressor... and it would carry NO warranty... ( had it done for $125 elsewhere). When I called Recker and Boerger back to tell them, They offered nothing, and told me I was welcome to shop around. Believe me , next time. I will. We've bought from Recker & Boerger twice, and both times the installations went awry. They installed a new dishwasher and it leaked; they came out and re-installed, though were there some minor issues. This month we bought a new Samsung refrigerator. The installers left without making sure it was working - it was stuck in some kind of 'demo' mode but the usual button-punching didn't work. So we had a non-working fridge. They retrieved the fridge, said they were going to fix it, and then today delivered the wrong fridge. To be fair, they haven't been rude about it, and as problems go, living without a full-size fridge for a few days is a first world problem. But still, you wouldn't think a store that specializes in appliances would have so much trouble installing them correctly. read more

If you decide to buy from this terrible company, DO NOT invest in any kind of warranty! Their products are crap! We had a very nice a.c unit installed in 2016 and the compressor went bad this past month and I thought that it should have been covered under the warranty but it wasn't.. The warranty paper I have 'clearly' states that there is a 10 year compressor warranty. After waiting 4 days with no response I finally got a response after my email was forwarded three times. I wanted to have a family friend do the install to save some money but that was not an option. I was quoted at over $1,000 for the part and install. They wouldn't cover the part even though the paper clearly states other wise. This company has faulty products, guest service is awful and they are rude. After sending another email days ago I've still yet to have any kind of response back. read more

I'm an old builder and my subs are recently retired so I am not accustomed to hiring retail contractors but I was extremely satisfied with Recker & Boerger's water heater install. I prepped the workspace for plenty of elbow room and light and the guys had removed and replaced a sparkling new AO Smith water heater in less than two hours. Forgot to mention the price was lower than expected; I got more than I paid for ; ) read more

Then 85$ more for diagnosis. Parts were ordered. 255$ to install a 14$ limit switch. A bit much. They will never get back in my house. read more

Horrible installation (scratches in doors & cabinets, microwave off-center, snow tracked everywhere, dishwasher dumped in the middle of the livingroom), called for assistance & never heard back. Oven doesn't work (temp off by 100°), called repeatedly for help, no callbacks, finally got someone, no help, manager refused to swap for working oven, told me "we don't stand behind our appliances, there's a warranty company for that".
