I wanted to buy a new bike. After figuring out what particular bikes I wanted, I came here. They were busy. It was morning on a weekday, and there were lots of people coming to rent a bike. I looked around for a few minutes before Paul finished with the previous customer and he asked me what I was looking for. After I told him my intended use, he recommended a couple bikes that were exactly what I had been thinking of already. I then took them both on a bit of a test ride. He made some adjustments. Installed the accessories I wanted. And his guy loaded it into my car for me. Quick, easy, great service. Bike comes with a warranty and maintenance for the first year too. The pricing is tiny bit higher than MSRP but I suppose that is for their service. Seems fair. Pretty painless process and I would easily come back here to get another bike when I need one. The other guys I dealt with were also friendly. Its right in yaletown by the seawall. Street metered parking is available. read more

I had my brakes fixed here a month ago and they broke again right away. When I went back, they asked for $50. All the staff were rude and disrespectful. One of them even said, 'Your bike isn't even worth $5.' I will never go there again. Terrible place!!! read more

I was getting my bike serviced and the owner's dog bit me as I was talking to the employee who was working on my bike. The owner didn't apologize and somehow inferred I was to blame for being near his dog, which the employee whispered to me was a horribly behaved mutt that everyone in the store hates. I later read that the owner treated one of his employees so poorly that it drove him to gun violence. Reckless is right! read more

This place is so busy (pre and post covid) and I felt intimidated going by with all the crowds. I was weary of the workers because they were all ages and very much worker bees. I needed help with a bike I just purchased. The seat was too low. As I rode by, there was a miracle - no line! I seized the opportunity and asked the young man if he could help me. He was very friendly and assisted me immediately (and no charge). Well, then I had to inquire about a kick stand (apparently that does not automatically come with a new bike). He took me inside to the service guy (older gentleman and 100% the most helpful and patient man!). He said he could fit one on ASAP. That took me to a lock. You need one downtown and the one I picked was no bueno! He advised me on several different lock systems and taught me where and how to effectively lock my investment. My family and I were mighty impressed by this tiny bike shop on Davie, right by the seawall. It may be small but it packs a punch! Want to rent a bike? This is the place (huge selection). Want to buy a bike? This is the place (huge selection). Want to service a bike? This is the place (the guy who works here apparently has a TON of experience. They also have quite a few service plans to tune-up bikes, for regular maintenance). Want to just get some biking apparel or bike accessories? This is the place (they got everything from funky bicycle bells to wicker baskets to aerodynamic clothing and top of the line helmets). A bit peeved, I called to see if they had time to look at my e-bike, and they said 'sure, bring it in'. After paying $5.75 for parking and lugging my dead bike up to the store, they greeted me with 'we don't fix those bikes'. They did help out however and the free water was appreciated. Not sure if his assessment on the battery being 'dead' after another assessment. But they did try. Make sure to make sure they can help you first on the phone. read more

I've never bought anything here nor rented a bike from these guys, but I think they're pretty awesome for offering free oil and air service to False Creek Seawall riders. I pulled in today because my tires always seemed to squeak while riding, and they felt a little squishy to the touch. The boys fixed me right up with their handy compressor, and off I went with properly inflated tires. It was a whole new bike ride after that. read more

One of the best parts of Vancouver is the scenic and abundant bike lanes! If you are ever in Downtown Vancouver, bike riding is a must, especially around Stanley Park! If you want to save some energy and get exercise at the same time and want to still want to do a little peddling, get an electric bike; it's like riding a scooter around town with the exercise capability. I can't compare Reckless Bikes to any other bike shops in town, but they do have a great Yelp score, specialize in electric bikes, and they were local to our hotel in the heart of Downtown a couple streets away from Granville, one of Vancouver's busy party streets. The owner was very accommodating to us, friendly and polite, and gave us some great recommendations of where to explore. The day we took the bikes out, it was Canada day and Canadians and tourists were out in full force. It was fun to get to explore and see all the activities going on. Renting electric bikes from Reckless Bikes was a great decision. We were able to ride through Stanley Park along the ocean for half the day and still get back in time to hop on a train to Seattle in the afternoon. The price was very reasonable at $65 (US) for two fully charged electric bikes, one mountain bike, one beach cruiser with basket (lock included). Don't lose your bike or it's a good $800 (US) per bike! read more

We spent a couple of days in Vancouver after a cruise and wanted to do some biking along the Sea Wall trail. We stopped into Reckless and were treated like kings! Great rental bikes, far better then the Shaw share-a-bike, and no hassles about having to check in every 30 mins like you do with the Shaw bikes. We travel a lot and have rented bikes in many countries and would put Reckless Bike Rentals at the top of our list! The guys at reckless saved me and my friend over Labor Day weekend - we were hoping to rent some road bikes and everywhere in town was fresh out due to a triathlon, except for reckless. When we picked up our bikes, they were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make sure the bikes were tuned up and perfect for our ride - they even let my friend keep some of her extra clothing at their store and helped us look up routes on Google Maps! I rented a road bike while in town for a weekend. The bike was solid and the service was great. Definitely recommend renting from here. They have two tiers of road bikes, I chose the lesser of the two (aluminum frame, tiagra components). It was not the brand pictured on their website, but the bike was in good shape and performed ably on a 60 mile ride in the mountains north of the city. It came with a saddle bag, which contained a pump, a tube, and a patch kit. The bag had some rough velcro that rubbed my thigh and would have damaged my bibs, so I had to ride with it in my jersey. That's my only complaint with my entire experience, and I'm sure they would have replaced the bag had I noticed before getting miles away the shop. They also gave me a lock to use for free. Couldn't really ask for more from the experience. Cost was pretty reasonable: $129CA for 48 hours. I brought my own pedals, which they were happy to install on the rental. They also tuned it up a bit before handing it over and offered to adjust the fit to my liking. I did that part myself because they were busy, but the offer was appreciated. But the best part of the experience came a week later when I realized I'd left a Garmin sensor on the bike. I called, thinking I'd never see the sensor again, but spoke to Brian who pulled down the bike I'd rented, found the sensor, and mailed it to me in the US at no charge. I've rented from them twice now, and am looking to buy from them. The upside ... they are right on the seawall- you can get onto the seawall easily without having to deal with any road traffic- if you're paranoid about getting squashed by a truck and just want to rent a bike and pedal pleasantly along the seawall, I can't imagine a better place to rent a bike. The downside ... they are BUSY on the weekend- as a result of their excellent location and policies of free air and assistance to passing bikers. So, give yourself 20-30 minutes to get a bike checked out, and be aware that if you show up in the middle of a beautiful day, they might be out of bikes entirely, and you might need to wait until there are returns. read more

I would recommend this place for renting bikes. The daily rate is decent and truly it is the best way to explore Vancouver. The entire process of getting the bike was probably around 5 minutes. It was great to just pop in, get a bike, and go. I felt that they probably could have adjusted the bike a tad better but, for the most part, I don't have any complaints. They are located right off the trail so it makes it simple to jump onto and, maybe more importantly, easy to find on the way back. read more

Great service is all you need when going to a bike store. My bike was acting up, so I walked it over to see what was wrong with it. Turns out a screw holding the tire in place was dangerously loose, oh no! Long story short, the guy approached me right away, fixed the bike, tightened everything, gave it a test ride, and handed it back to me....all for free! He was so attentive, helpful and friendly I wanted to give him a tip, but he insisted that it was not necessary. I will definitely be back here for my biking needs. Plus, its right on the sea wall and next to an Urban Fare. You could rent or tune you bike up here, get some food, and have a beautiful ride around the seawall. I don't know much bikes, so do need help picking one. find this store on yelp actually, with good reputation. they also do bike renting, so I decide to rent for a day first. they are in good business prepare to wait for 10 min before get served. but the stuff there are really helpful. $20 for 1.5 hr to 40+ for a day, they close early during weekend (5pm), so I choose overnight. the nice thing is the boss there let me take a new bike for a ride. you have to put your credit card number down for deposit of cause. so the next day I like the bike and go back to them to buy it, along with other accessories, they waived the rental fee from previous day, give me free bell, discount on new seats, etc, hoho, that's lovely. read more

A while ago, II was overcharged for a repair that made no difference to my bike ($130). The mechanic also said that I needed a new cassette that would cost me $300. I went to another bike shop who charged me $60 for parts and labour for a new cassette. I also have found that other services were over priced and their selection of bicycles to be limited to the novice rider. The owner is also hard on his staff and unfriendly with the customers. It is unfortunate as the staff on the whole is very friendly. His wife and son are there occasionally and are also very congenial. If they lowered their labour prices and brought in a better selection of bicycles I would frequent the store more often. The reason that i am giving this bike shop 3 stars rather than 2, is that they hired a new new mechanic named Andrew who is amazing. read more

I took my bike here as I was riding on the seawall and someone trying to pass me made me swerve and fall. I have a nice Specialized road bike and was upset to find my left handle bar bent inwards. Lucky for me Reckless bikes was just a few steps away. I took it in and told them what happened. They immediately took my bike to the back for a once over. A few minutes later my bike was returned to me... fixed! I was told everything else was fine (thankfully). As they were walking me out I realized I hadn't paid for their service. I asked them how much I owed and the kind young man told me it was for free! I cant believe the service I received here. I was already a bit shocked with my fall so to have someone kindly help me was so appreciated. Thank you Reckless Bikes! Any next bike related purchase will be from your store. I've been neglecting my Giant lately. Riding it lots, but turning a blind (and oh so guilty) eye to the obvious signs of age and wear it has been not-so-subtly showing me. So. Off to Reckless for a tune up. I went with the mid-range option, crossed my fingers and walked home. My ride was ready the next day (!!!) and rode like a dream. The repairs were costly, but necessary. They explained everything to me in detail. Fast forward a few days. Me. Preparing for a seawall ride on the first sunny day in forever!! And....tire is flat. Flat. Flat. Flat. I took it back this morning (a very summery Sunday) and they were swamped with renters, riders and what may have been a record-breaking gathering of thirteen year olds...and what did Reckless do for me, a paying customer who did not get what she paid for in the first place? Well, they did what any good business would do - they found the problem and they fixed it! Right there at the corner of chaos and cha-ching, where they were raking it in and certainly didn't have to make time for me today, they did. I was disappointed to see my last review got deleted. I would never rent bikes from here again. The bikes are not maintained well at all. I wanted to rent 2 bikes for 24 hours, and they had me put down a $1300 deposit for 2 bikes that I know for a fact would not sell for even $300 brand new. The lady who I think must of been the owners wife was following me around the store rushing me to give my credit card and told me about 10 times if anything happened to the bikes they would charge my credit card the full $1300. She made me fee unwelcome and like she did not trust me. I paid to rent the bikes for a full 24 hours and they still asked me to return the bikes as soon as the shop opened the next day. When i said "I thought I paid for a full 24 hours" they said, "well I guess you can if you want" They did not seem pleased. Then, after all of that, they STILL have not returned my $1300 deposit even though I returned the bikes in the exact condition I borrowed them in. I returned the bikes over a week ago. I called to try to get my deposit back and they said they would return my call, no one ever returned my call until a week later, and it was only because they had lost the receipt from me paying to rent the bikes over night. They needed me to fax or email back my receipt or else they would have no proof I paid for the bikes over night, and I would be charged again. read more

I was recently in the store to check out prices on a bike for my boyfriend. I spent about an hour in the shop, and I was appalled, to say the least. My experience was ruined by a older blonde woman who appeared to be in charge. She was rude and demanding to her employees, and she treated customers poorly. There was a man who waited patiently while she was talking to another employee, in Spanish. He said repeatedly, politely, that he was in a rush and needed to pay. She told him "Too bad, can't you see I'm busy? If you don't like it, come back later" So he loudly said "I'm trying to leave but you won't let me pay" She responded by telling him to "Drop his attitude" and said "We don't need the business of rude customers" I was shocked! If I were that man I would have just left without paying! Not too long after that, while I was in conversation with an employee, the same blonde woman approached him and asked him to work on a bike. He said he would start when he was done with me. She didn't like that response and told him to find someone else to help me. I felt completely disregarded and unwanted in the store. The employee stayed with me and answered my questions, only to have the blonde woman come back over to us and begin yelling at him. I will NEVER be coming back to this shop. I was willing to spend a few thousand dollars on getting my boyfriend the perfect set up. My money will be going elsewhere. This woman was rude to customers and treated her employees like garbage. I will be telling everyone about my experience and I will NOT be recommending this shop to anyone, because of the blonde woman. She is ruining your shop! I've been looking for a new road bike for a while, and I wanted to pick one up while I was in Vancouver since the exchange rate is so extreme right now... I went to probably every bike store in the city, and while several had great service, Reckless is the only one I left with a new bike. They have a great selection of bikes and accessories. Corey set me up with the most beautiful Brodie gold road bike, and I am obsessed with it. They packaged the bike up for me in just a handful of minutes, and gave me a better deal than I anticipated. Looking back on my purchase, I would have rather left with Corey than the bike. ;) read more
