This Storage company REC NATION does not even deserve 1 star! I am a Professional Engineer and decided to store my $500,000 dollar Motorhome with this half-baked outfit. First, I was baited in by "Check in now and the remaining part of the first month is free", so I made a reservation and checked in around the 15th of the month and received the remaining part of the month "Free", except this flim-flam of a company charged me for their insurance $15.00. When I made the reservation, I attempted to upload my cert if insurance, however this part of the website did not work, so I sent it to them in an email. This did not make any difference. As I drove into the facility, I looked at the building overhang that the assigned me. There was literally a river (rain run off) 3 feet wide directly in front of the space! No way was I going to attempt to drive a 20 ton, 45 foot long motorhome into that space. The gravel and base was like :quick sand"! I then proceeded to go to another space on my own and the front end of the coach sank half way up to the middle of the front wheel! Try calling them and Ai tells you "I will make a note to have the SITE MANAGER call you. This entire building I was in have ZERO electric! I called and told the the issue with the space that they assigned and told them what space I was in. "The site manage will call you:". Eight phone calls and no return call! Now they advise me that since I did not fill our a lease, I was being charged for the past 3 months an additional $35.00 per month. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BAIT & SWITCH COMPANY. The reps are rude and the Ai sucks the big one. Do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and go to the competitor that may charge more that Rec Nation's advertised rate and you won't have a substandard facility with maintenance issues! This company feels that once they have your credit or debit card, THAT THEY OWN IT! read more

They will prorate your payments when you move in but they won't when you move out. They also told me they would give me $20.00 rebate on my last month's rent if I would give them a review. Don't fall for that. No rebate. Also you can never talk to someone locally about your storage needs. They use a call center and they were horrible to deal with. We signed up with this location since before it was bought out by Rec Nation and used to be Bulldog Storage. Since becoming Rec Nation the price has steadily increased. Required a 30 day notice to vacate and didn't care weather we needed to stop paying due to economic difficulties. Would never give them our business ever again. read more

I was actually shocked at the ease of this process and the accommodating nature of the sales personnel to allow me to go and look at the units and decide which I was interested in. I looked at 4 different facilities and they were all clean, well maintained, and had quality security measures in place. The app is easy to use for getting the gate open quickly when pulling a trailer so you're not sticking out in the road or having to get out of the vehicle to punch in a code. read more

Do not get a unit with this company. They have 0 customer service. I rented a unit only to find out the unit could not be locked because they were missing a part on the door. I called for weeks and they never fixed the issue. I had enough and canceled and the next month they charged me again. I have been on the phone for over an hour trying to talk to someone but they refuse to answer. If you call to get a new unit they will answer immediately but then won't help you cancel or fix your unit. This is a complete scam. read more

What a pleasant surprise it has been to work with Rec Nation I discovered them several years ago and they have been easily a level above all the rest . They are easy to work with most important they don't change your rates every month and I've never had a security issue with them I cannot say the same of other companies in the Houston area that I have been a tenant with. read more

We had been 24+ year customers for boat storage at Fey's Boat & Camper Storage in Selma, TX (San Antonio area). They had moderately raised rates over the years along the way as you might expect, but nothing outrageous. Until they were recently bought by RecNation!!!! RecNation increased the rates for a 24+ year customer in one fell swoop by 69%...more than a two thirds increase in one bill! Obviously, we called them to discuss....they were completely non-caring about it, didn't want to hear anything else about it....like we had been renting there for over 24 years, ALWAYS paid on time and were NEVER an issue for the old owners. They claimed they sent us a 30 day email notice (if they did, I never received it and still can't find it in email)! We're gone...gave them immediate notice and will vacate as soon as possible...the really crazy thing is they are offering a new rental rate of $1 for the first month's rent. Why would you run off a good 24+ year customer....I would think I'd be considered a pretty good storage customer since I rent this one for my boat, another one for my RV and yet another one for basic storage. RecNation just didn't/doesn't care!!! There was basically no "human" element to customer interaction, meaning they are purely and simply a bottom line company and the customer is only a part of it in as much as they pay them...period! THE ONLY REASON I AM PUTTING THIS REVIEW OUT THERE IS SO YOU MIGHT TAKE HEED AND STAY AWAY FROM THEM! The only way to get through to a company like this is through their pocketbook! Was a good place for storage until today these people sent me an email stating that my rent for my storage will go up over 65% because of inflation. What i don't understand is why do we as business owners have to deal with inflation but rec nation does not what makes these people more special than the rest of the American people. You will definitely be reported to the BBB and I will definitely not recommend this storage company. Bad move out policy. I vacated my unit and they require 30 days written notice at the office on site non prorated. They're unnecessarily robbing me a month worth of service that won't be using. Will say place is clean and safe though. Just be sure to let them know ahead of time when you move out because they make it difficult. read more

I had a non-climate controlled unit for nearly three years, since before the new ownership. The increased rent and additional fees, with no end in sight are what caused me to move to another facility. The facility itself is nice, but my unit was full of dust, pine needles and spiders. I do not know how all that got in there. When we moved out, we found a rat (not a mouse) living in one of the boxes. As others have mentioned, the facility instituted a 30 day written notice move out policy. Unless you let them know *on* the the day your payment is due, your move out date will be in to the next month. They will charge you a full months rent, even if you move out the day after you pay the following month's rent, and will not refund the remainder of the month. read more

Once RecNation took over management of the facility everything went downhill. They immediately raised rents but didn't add anything to the facility. I gave the notice to move out, and rather than pro-rating my move out they are going to charge me a full additional month since I gave a 7-day notice rather than a 10-day notice. So they are free to lease my unit to another person and get twice the rent. I was in a unit with electricity and the majority of the time the electricity was out, but they never offered to reduce the rent to offset the electricity that I was paying for but did not receive. My advice would be, if recnation is the manager of your storage place, stay away! read more

do nottttttttttt rent here!!! they took our rent from $220 to $458 when i called them they said "all we have to do is send an email weather in junk or not and it's you agreeing." doubled rent and said "raised" also they will change you an additional month regardless so gove a 60 day notice. this place is horrible!!!! the managers told us to go to the office the office isnt even ann-office it has a ladder in it! they do not care. go some where else i dont even want to give 1 stars its no stars for me read more

The facility is very clean and nice. Prior to Rec Nation taking it over it was one of the best I've ever used. Post Rec Nation purchasing it, it has been all about rate increases and new fees. When I called to cancel they talked me out of it and gave me a bunch of promises that they never lived up to. 5 stars for the facility but 0 stars for the management. Hopefully customers will speak with their dollars like I did and help the ownership figure out their gaps. read more

This was my first and last experience with Rec Nation. Working with them has been a disaster since day one. My number one question before I decided to store with them was security. I was assured that this was their number one priority as well and I had nothing to worry about. I secured a space at the Texas City Wye location and due to family illness, was unable to make the original move in date. Despite having multiple open spaces, they refused to credit those 6 days as they "took those spaces out of inventory". When I did arrive at the facility, the security gate was wide open and continued to be during the duration of moving the trailer in and trying to level it despite the slope of the assigned spot. Two months in, a generic email was sent to all renters informing us of vandalism at the site. The email stated those who were impacted were notified. Feeling uneasy, I went to check on my trailer. I could see from the highway that I was impacted by the vandalism. You would have to be blind not to see it which leads me to believe no one truly checked the entire site. I notified Rec Nation and was told I "was free to file a report with the police". I quickly made arrangements to move my trailer to a safe and secure location and expected to be refunded for the 6 additional days I paid upon move in along with the 11 days left in the month I moved out. Instead I was given the addresses of other Rec Nation sites that I could utilize instead. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself the headaches that will arise if you work with Rec Nation. read more
