I will not be going back here. The hair dresser was extremely rude and other employees literally apologized on behalf of her attitude. My hair is also completely damaged because she just obviously just wanted to finish the job and didn't really care about the integrity of my hair. They don't even give water to clients anymore. I'll never be going back here - I spent years here and thousands of dollars the past few years. Rude. read more

Only reason why this salon is getting any stars from me is off the strength of the Hair stylist Vivi who was always sweet and cut my hair amazingly! But it seems the greeters who sit in the front are more concerned with there side conversations than clients who come in. I can not tell you the number of times I've set up an appointment and was NOT told my hair stylist is running behind schedule leaving me to wait over 30 minutes completely ignored before finally going to the front desk to be informed "oh she's running behind. Sorry." Today I scheduled an appointment was completely ignored by the front desk when I came in at 2pm. I sat and watched as other clients walk in (caucasians) were greeted immediately! I sat down until 242 until I finally walked up to the desk and was only then informed my hair stylist is running late... AFTER I canceled my appointment and informed them how unprofessional it is to ignore someone and not inform them of the inconvenience was when I believe the owner approached me offering to shampoo my hair.. I told him I would be leaving and he gave the most insincere apology I've ever heard! And walked away! NOW I'm not cheap I would have gladly paid for an additional service if they were running behind maybe other services like a hair treatment because I am someone who takes care of myself this is also apparent from my appearance.. eyelashes done.. nails done.. but no completely ignored such a shame because I genuinely liked Vivi who cut my hair.. but since this has been such a constant norm when i go there maybe they don't care to have me as a client so I may be looking into finding a new hair salon. Unsure yet. This salon has good customer service and a cozy salon/ nice employees but that's pretty much it. I went in to get a balayage and requested no color on the top of my head and not too much color in general (the amount of color). When I walked out, there was 1) color at the top of my head near my roots on the right side of my head and 2) seemed like the the whole top layer of my hair was colored from middle to ends. I've gotten balayge 3 times before from other salons and they have come out beautifully every time. I went back to get it darkened on the top (right near the roots where I did not want the color to start) and a little bit more dark tones on the bottom. I walked out with wet hair so really couldn't tell, but now my hair is back to being ALL black on one side of my head. Underneath the top layer, it's also now uneven in the amount of color... I paid $150 total to make 2 trips to the salon and think it was a complete waste of time and money. read more

I came here for the first time to cut my hair to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. I had Stacy and she did a great job cutting my hair to prevent uneven ends and trimming to even the sides up. They are remodeling the hair salon and it is looking really nice. Would definitely come back again for a trim! read more

I don't usually write reviews online unless I have an incredible experience, so it says something that you'll see me online raving about this salon. I can certainly say that Recreations is the best salon I've been to for several different beauty services, and I used to live in NY which is notorious for top salons. Steve does a remarkable job on my hair. The cut and color is more than I can ask for. He takes his time to make you comfortable and explain everything he is doing step by step. He is not in a rush and makes sure he dedicates enough time to accommodate your needs. I am a person with many questions, and everyone here is so accommodating despite my numerous calls and messages. This staff has a lot of patience. There is also something to say that Steve runs an honest business, and will not press you for unnecessary services like other salons I've been to. Their beauty services don't end with hair either, and I love having one go to place for all my needs. This is also the only place I'll go for my UV gel fill ins. Much like the other staff, Melissa is so patient with me and takes her time to give me exactly what I want as well as offer me opinions and friendly conversation. My nails last a full four weeks with no lifting and I always get compliments on them. Everyone here is so friendly. I would really recommend you try it. :) read more

I have been searching for a new place to get pedicures. I decided to give this salon a try because of the excellent reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations from a few friends. The nail tech who did my pedicure (Belkis) was excellent. She was friendly, professional and took time to pay attention to detail and you could tell that both her work and my satisfaction were important to her. I would definitely return and book with her. My only issue (and not with her) was the fact that a nail dryer was not offered, so I was leaving the salon with wet polish. As a matter of fact, this was the only nail salon I have ever been to that did not offer a nail dryer. I would think that a high-end salon such as this should definitely offer customers the option of using a nail dryer. read more

I love this salon! Steve Stoupas is an experienced, passionate stylist and owner. Full of information, he provides truly organic color and expert advice. With naturally curly hair, I can count on one hand those I trust to cut it--and Steve walks among them! His staff is also fabulous, and I especially love Stephanie, who is gentle but thorough and is even able to wash my curly hair without knotting it all up! I have extremely curly hair so I know it can be difficult to cut if you don't have experience with it which was explained to Steve before we even began. He assured me that his speciality is curly hair however I soon learned that was not the case at all. I showed a picture of what I wanted and I have received this exact haircut before somewhere else so I know it wasn't farfetched. I felt like the cut was rushed initially because after it was straightened he didn't check if everything was evened out or if I was pleased with my haircut. So when I got home I realized how botched my hair was so I called them and went back right away. Afterwards I went home and knew I wasn't happy with the haircut as the bangs were not what I wanted and wasn't completely uneven. I emailed them privately and Steve called immediately apologizing and requested I give him another chance, which I now regret even more than the first time. I asked for shorter bangs that blended and for him to cut the back a bit shorter as well as to thin my hair out SLIGHTLY. However what I was left with was MUCH shorter and MUCH thinner hair. I literally cried for a half hour when I got home. At this point there is nothing to do to fix this but to get extensions put in my hair. However I learned never to come here for a haircut ever again! And if you have thick curly hair DONT ever come here for a haircut! Trust me! I attached pictures of my botched hair. Note: Steve is a very nice guy and so is his staff. They are all very nice so my review has nothing to do with them personally. read more

I've been coming here for years and I've yet to find a better salon. The prices are a bit expensive but that's to be expected when they use the highest quality and most natural possible product. I've dyed my hair several times and they always give the best suggestions. All the employees are professional and great at what they do. I gave this salon 5 stars because they not only did a great job, but I would willingly come back and recommend them to a friend. I was able to make an appointment for a blowout the same day I called, which was great. I had a great experience, and the fact that they use organic products is a plus. The salon's decor and layout is beautiful. The staff are very considerate and friendly, while still being focused on their work. I appreciated how wonderful and glamorous my blowout looked. Most importantly: No one, not a single staff member, was trying to sell products to me. Instead, they used certain products like a volumising root boosting spray amongst others and allowed me to ask questions about them. I did not feel pressured to buy anything, but I probably will go back and buy the root spray because it gave me great volume and my blowout looks amazing. I have been a client at ReCreations for about 10 months now. At first, I was only doing my nails here, and absolutely love ALL of the nail staff. Getting a manicure and pedicure here is a relaxing, fun experience every single time, plus the girls pay close attention to ALL of the details and make sure that no client leaves unhappy. Last month, I went to Nina for a haircut, as well as some wild and fun color, and I was BLOWN AWAY by the results! The service was top notch, and Nina went above and beyond my expectations. Her knowledge of color and hair made me feel absolutely at ease in her chair, and I was able to relax while I trusted my hair, which I am pretty picky about, to a kind, hilarious, and EXTREMELY TALENTED professional. I was a first time client today based on the fantastic reviews on Yelp. I got a cut & style by Beze (sorry if I spelled your name wrong). But she knocked it out of the park. I was totally having a pregnant moment & wanted to cut my long hair way shorter & she just knew not too! Thank you for the beautiful cut! She knew how to handle thinner hair. She gave me lots of volume & bounce. She knew I was a bit nervous with a new salon and she talked me through each step. And then topped it off by curling my ends. (Didn't even ask her to). Superrrrr cute & I'm very happy. In addition, I was so happy & pleasantly surprised to hear that they have a line of Organic, plant based products for color as well as other products. My daughter has had both Sarah and Rachel do balayage and it came out great and the haircut was great as well. I started going here when I couldn't get in at my usual place and I'm so glad Sarah did a great job on my cut and also cuts my mom's hair now too. I went to ReCreations Salon for the first time yesterday and I have to say, in addition to my amazing stylist Nicole, the salon itself is beautifully decorated and truly a pleasant environment to be in. I went to Nicole for corrective color on blonde hair, which as many of us know, can be tricky, as well as a full head of individual extensions, a hair cut, and blow out, and I could not be happier. Not only did Nicole exceed all of my expectations but she is so friendly and knowledgeable about the industry. Lastly, I woke up this morning with a bombshell blowout that was still perfect from the day before!!! It's safe to say I'll be back in Nicole's chair soon and recommending the salon / Nicole to family and friends! read more

I recently planned a wedding in Somerset, NJ and had to find hair and make up two weeks before the wedding..AHHH I found ReCreations Salon online and called and Stephanie got it all done! They found enough artists to do our 14 people hair and make up and last minute manicures. Came to our location and had a full set up. Was able to deal with a difficult mother and redid the make up until she was satisfied. I don't know what I would have done without them, they were my saving grace of the wedding! I went to this salon for the first time a couple months ago and wanted to get a balayage. I brought in pictures of how I wanted them done and asked if the lady could do it for me. She told me that kind of hair wasn't possible with my hair color which was fine- but then proceeded to do the "best she could". She was a nice lady and we had friendly conversation but my end results were horrifying. It just looked like I got my entire head bleached and then when I complained she told me she can tone it up to make it less dramatic. I realized later it cost extra to tone it up. I shouldn't have had to pay $280 to simply have my hair looked like it was bleached and dead. She tried to convince me that that's what a balayage was and even took me outside the salon to tell me it looked better in natural lighting. I left because she was so nice to me but I have just got to say, it was probably the worst and most dramatically noticeable mistake I have done to my hair when balayage is supposed to look natural and subtle. I could've done this to my own hair with a box of hair bleach for $7. read more

My daughter has been there several times to have her hair cut. Went to the website to book an appointment with her stylist. The price listed on the website for her stylist says $35. Been inform her price went up and they have not bothered to change their website. They did not offer to honor the price even though by law they have to honor any price advertised. Since they will not honor the price this last time for a repeat customer we will take our business elsewhere. Bad business practice to lose a customer over $5 and receive a bad review. I hope the $5 they saved was worth it to them. I will also never recommend them again to other people I have sent there. read more
