This place is pretty mediocre. The only reason why I think people come to this restaurant is because it's not as busy as the Cowboy Corner Cafe. I was really disappoonted with my breakfast platter. The scrambled eggs were flavorless. The bacon was so overcooked and practically burnt. The potatoes were by far the worst. Each potato is a totally different size and some are more cooked than others. They were extremely bland; no seasoning whatsoever. Not even salt or pepper. The skin must have fallen off in the process of cooking, so you end up with black pieces of potato skin which looks and taste very unappetizing. The only reason why this place gets 2 stars instead of 1, is because of their little baby cakes. Probably the only good thing about this place. Unless you're gonna eat the baby cakes, take your money elsewhere. read more

Went there for the first time this morning with my wife and her co-workers. Great service and really good breakfast! Large portions! Kudos to the waitress who took our bill. It came out to $102.89. I gave her $120. But didnt realized that I actually gave her $220! She returned and to say that I accidentally gave her and extra $100. We found this spot on a Sunday when there were lines at other breakfast spots, and we were seated right away. I was with a vegan, and she was very happy with her classic potato hash (minus eggs), which had lots of veggies, including an addition of artichokes that she requested. I had basic bacon, eggs and toast, with a side of avocado. All tasted fresh, and our attentive waitress kept the coffee flowing. We were well-distanced from other patrons and got our food quickly. Literally threw up after leaving! My husband,a good friend of ours and myself went to try it out yesterday morning. Walking in it was small and cozy looking, right as we sat down we got helped which was great. But the waitress looked annoyed with a bad attitude could not really hear her as much looked shy I guess. We ordered and when receiving our food it looked good until I found a strand of hair in the plate. Food was okay I guess but right after we ate I started to feel really disgusted. I got a stomachache and felt horrible! After we left, as soon as we got home my husband threw up and was sick all day. He had to call out work and wasn't doing good. This place is awesome. It was recomended and we stopped in for breakfast. Right off the bat, the ambiance is well lit and clean. The service was spot on and attentive. The food is very good quality and large portions. My father said that it was the best Spanish Omelet he ever had. They let me design my own Eggs Benedict - sausage patty with chipotle sauce, so good! I really wanted to like this place so I would have another option in the town I live in. However, just like most places anymore, the employees were not appreciative of my business. No one thanked me for patronizing their business so they could have a paycheck. Not the waitress or the gal who took my payment. I asked for extra Mayo on my BLT, but I got a sh*t ton of mayonnaise. Every bite was oozing over my face. 2 strips of bacon. I was charged $2 to make my granddaughter's pancakes into chocolate chip pancakes. They probably used about $.10 worth of chips. And $.25 for a paper cup that I did not ask for. Other than taking my order and bringing it to my table, my waitress did not return at any time to ask how we were doing. I work at a local hotel, so I am VERY aware when I do not get good service. My guests are always asking where to go to eat. I won't be suggesting this restaurant. I want my guests to have great experiences when in Watsonville. I wish owners would be more interested in their customers having a great experience. read more

We passed thru Watsonville this morning and stumbled upon this place for breakfast. The staff was ready and waiting and could not have been more accommodating! Really, they were there to refill our coffee after every sip! Breakfast came fast and it was huge and tasty, but a bit messy on the plate. I think they could reduce the size of the servings and make they look a bit less jumbled on the plate... but hey, I'm not really complaining. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the dirty women's restroom. It was pretty gross and neglected. I'll admit I'm picky about this, but it's really a reflection of the establishment, just as the rest of the restaurant is. I don't know why restaurants pay so little attention to this. I can't be the only one who wonders if there are areas of the kitchen that are just as dirty and unmaintained. read more

The wife and I saw this little spot and decided to try it out. So. Glad. Everything we ate was wonderful. I had the country fried steak. She had the huevos rancheros. Breakfast with my Dad this morning. Decent place, excellent service, above average tasting food. I found the pancakes needed a little work but otherwise a perfect breakfast (Specifically the pancakes were a bit chewy and tough-this is likely in the recipe or they were cooked and then reheated after; who knows, still pretty good). Waits can be long if you do not time your breakfast. Our wait at 9am on a Sunday was just under 10 minutes. Not bad seeing as the place down the street was 45 min wait. A nice choice in Watsonville with a very large private parking lot with more spaces than the place can hold in customers. Kitchen and bathrooms were clean as well. Will be back for sure to give them a shot at improving their pancakes and a possible 5-star review. read more

Took us longer to get to the place than to eat...so much traffic on top of Main St. being closed. Who ever doesn't like having breakfast for lunch or dinner is not normal. :P Fast and friendly service with food of epic proportions! Definitely a lot of bang for your buck! The table and floor could have been a little cleaner...I actually stepped on a fork that was dropped under the table. The pancakes were soooooo delicious!!! Light and fluffy with a hint of I don't know what... It tasted like cake batter and vanilla! I ordered the crab cake benedict, it was delicious. Not fishy with tons of flavor. I think this puts Bill's Cafe's crab cake to shame. (OMG-what did she just say??) :P The potatoes where not my favorite, I think it's because they were not bite sized. My sister approved of their chorizo scramble, my son devoured his chicken strips and my husband liked the ultimate meat omelet but felt it had too much egg. They offer lunch items too and breakfast is served all day. Hours are not posted on Yelp but they're open from 6:00am-3:00pm. I recommend this place and will be back for more! DEFINITELY a locals place and now that they've moved, it's a little harder to find, but worth your time looking. Kinda noisy but it is a family-friendly place. Food is stellar (think truck-stop) and the wait staff are friendly and very generous with the coffee but make sure you ask for the french roast. Lots of egg & potato scramble combinations for breakfast, waffles, pancakes, omelet's, etc. Your kids will be very happy here, crayons at the table and place-mats to color. Breakfast specials may include linguisa or homemade italian sausage. My pet peeve is that they serve those pureed fruit spreads in the plastic cubes as jam/jelly and they aren't really accomodating if you want to substitute anything on the menu, i.e. you have to PAY EXTRA for fruit instead of potatoes Lunch is really good too: club sandwiches with thick cut steak fries, BBQ beef, roast beef; decent salads, milkshakes, and big "bottomless" glasses of freshly brewed iced tea. Lunch specials may include chorizo and sometimes fish. A hang out for local contractors and business peeps. Five stars! read more

Red Apple Cafe is a nice little restaurant where the locals go. It's a great place for breakfast, since it's served all day, or lunch. My family went here for two consecutive days for breakfast. The first day I had their Chicken and Apple Sausage Breakfast Special. It came with eggs, toast, and their specialty, country potatoes. The sausage was good, it tasted like it was made in house. The eggs I had scrambled and were cooked perfectly. But my favorite thing was the potatoes. They are cooked to a delicious crisp and expertly seasoned with garlic and salt. Oh my....it makes my mouth water just thinking about them. The second day I went I had their Sourdough Burger for lunch. It was a beef patty on Sourdough sliced bread with jack cheese, tomatoes, and their special sauce. I was expecting the meat to be dry, but surprisingly, it was extremely juicy. The Sourdough added a nice contrast to the sweetness of their special sauce that overall, the burger was extremely delightful. The reason I give it four stars, despite their food being absolutely delicious, the service is rather mediocre. The waitresses could definitely be more attentive. My recommendations: if you're going for breakfast, order something that comes with the potatoes. The potatoes alone are worth coming here for. read more

My favorite place to go for breakfast in Watsonville. The food is always great and consistent. And even when they are busy, which is most of the time the service is on par with the best I have experienced. So far so good. We both order the Waffle Special. Looks good. Looks ample. Heres where it all fell apart. This is a resterant. They serve food here. What we got was 2 strips of dryed out salty dusty bacon. A cardboard un edible "waffle" that was literally just like eating a bite of packing material. Fake syrup . I ate the scrambled egg. I had breakfast here with my family and the food was at par to say the least and the staff is really in need of a floor manager, or a team leader. 5 girls walking around serving coffee and only two waitresses for the whole place at its busy peak it took close to 40 min to get food served. The crab cakes were spicy, and the sauce was a bit bland for my taste. The potatoes on the side were good though.
