They don't answer reservation requests or return phone calls. I guess they don't need customers? Not sure why they even have a website.

Customer Service. Web page says they will call you back, even if the Park is closed. We tried booking several RV'er here 10 months before our trip. This was in the middle of a 2 month trip and we simply needed an answer, so we could make other arrangements if we couldn't get in. I called and emailed Red Apple 3-4 times a week. Silent for 6 months. Then when they finally returned calls, they did t go in order received. One friend got a call and got a poor site, with his first call to them two months after all of our calls. When they did call back,the woman was incredibly rude. She offered me the only site available and said, "we have regular returning customers", who we book earlier than our normal calendar and they book a year in advance. This would have been nice to know. My discussion with this woman, wasn't about the site, but was how they advertise. She wanted to argue and could only repeat that she was NOW returning my call (months later and weeks after the park was open) and said "take it or leave it. Traveling with 5 others, we had to leave it and found an amazing RV Park a few miles away. The employee there welcomed all of us. What a contrast. Especially after booking at 25 other rv Parks on this trip. I had heard this is a nice park. I don't doubt that, but what a disappointment. No zero's available for this park, but def zero for their reservations and favoritism system. read more

At this point if I could give a zero I would, talk about rude and unaccommodating. To be fair somethings are on us for not reading the website completely, but holy moly it's 95 plus all week and the pool is closed (they lock the gate after Labor Day) we were wondering why no one was there...that's why! That part is on us.... *note we noticed as we explored the area all other resorts and RV parks still had their pools open* We tried for 3 days to get lobster delivered as that's a big part of why we chose to stay here. First day we tried was the day we checked in they have a set time limit as to when you can order, totally understand that we missed it the first night. Second time you need to pay in advance (cash only) (matter of fact the whole place is cash only) we couldn't use our debit card. No ATM on site, we missed the cut off time again. Next day we called before the cut off time no one answered the phone so we walked over. Cut off time is 10am it was 10:05 by the time we got to the office. They said those are the rules. (The owner/manager is in the office but just doesn't answer the phone) We so wanted to love this place but it's been an unbelievable letdown. I suggest maybe looking for a nicer/friendlier place. Maybe not so many rules set in stone oh and speed bumps I swear they are every 10 feet. read more

What a great campground! The sites were so well maintained and clean. The kids loved the playground and the pool, and we loved that we were so close to downtown. We weren't expecting to stay here as we had to make a change of plans on our way up to Bar Harbor. Given it was the week of Fourth of July we were able to get a full hookup site on a paved pad! Amazing. The staff were super nice, and talking with the other campers there were a lot of regulars to this oasis. A quick drive brings you right into downtown Keenybunkport which is an awesome place to spend the evening. Can't recommend this spot more, we'll worth the stop. read more

My absolute favorite campground. I'm from MD and have returned here many times and will continue to do so. Coming from MD, it is an ideal place to sleep outside in the summer. They have a nice clean bathhouse, basketball court, game room with free activities such as; pool, foosball, air hockey, chess, checkers, puzzles, movies or books to check out, pool, bingo night, playground, paved roads for good walking or bike laps, etc. Super friendly staff. I have been here now for the second time and this beautifully kept campground is such a wonderful way to vacation in maine . The lobsta truck brought us beautifully steamed dinner right to our spot in the woods at the campsite ! The pool is clean and the grounds well maintained. I was use to yachting and spending time each year in Maine and Kennebunkport was the spot year over year I have come with my family. Now I enjoy the peace of camping and the simplicity of Red Apple Campgrounds is such a pleasure . I can bring my dogs and enjoy the people around me and the natural setting. read more

If you're thinking about reserving a spot at this campground please take seriously all the negatives comments about the rude, unfriendly owner. It's all true! The site she gave us wasn't big enough for our 35' RV. We could either put our slide out or our awnings out, but not both. We were wedged between two large trees on what used to be an internal campground rode. The owner didn't want to hear it and didn't care. We booked for five days and six months in advance. I believe the common thread here in regard to her rudeness and indifference is that she doesn't want transients! Most of the sites are permanent. Never going back and will never recommend. read more

The owners, David and Jane, could not have been nicer or more helpful during our stay. We did not have a car with us so David took time out of his busy day to drive us into town and give us a tour of the area. He went out of his way to make our visit special and in the process restored my faith in humanity! The campground is clean, safe, and quiet. What more could you ask for? We used our travel trailer for the first time Memorial Day Weekend. We booked Red Apple and based this on some google reviews. We LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! Dave and Jane were so attentive and helpful to us. They treated our boys like family. The small touches such as the candy dish, free hot cocoa, rec hall with lots of books, games, air hockey, etc. were great. Some positive thoughts - It was 55 degrees and their pool was 85 degrees.... Even though there was a chill in the air at some points, the kids got to enjoy the pool. The bathrooms were by far the cleanest facilities we have seen at a campground EVER. The lobster delivery service was AWESOME!!! We really all got a kick out of that. We were 3 miles from downtown shopping and 4 miles from the ocean, There were no extra costs, except if you wanted to play pool and that minimal cost ($1) went to charity. Everyone that we met was very friendly and all were repeat business . We were so fortunate to have had such a positive experience as our first trip with the trailer. I grew up coming to Gooserocks Beach as a child with my family so it was a treat to find a campground I can now come to as a full-time RV'er and visit family and also all the local favorites places from my childhood. The campground itself was clean, well-maintained, nice level sites, clean bathrooms, friendly staff. Only reason not to get a 5 star was lack of quality wifi which I really need when I work from the road. But you can be sure we will be back. Loved it here read more

Woman at the front office is terrible. Rude and foul. Parked in the front lot took a second to change my son's diaper and decide w my wife if we liked the campground. Literally walked a circle around my rv to look at the place. Parked out of the way and the place was not busy, did not see a single other person anywhere. The front office lady comes out yelling at us for hanging out. Not asking if we have any questions or if we would like to stay. When I said we were deciding if we were going to stay she yelled at us for being there 10-20 minutes and to pay or get out. Hard decision. I see why it was a ghost town. Found a much nicer campground just north. read more

My Mother Sister and I rented a cabin called The Red Apple Suite for this Labor Day Weekend. The cabin was beautiful and clean but the septic smell ruined it. I called the office the woman sent a gentleman over. He said he'd dump bleach down all the drains. I then went to the office and told the woman that that would not take care of the problem and the fumes of bleach is dangerous. They did mouthing. While sitting on the decks when the wind blew a you could smell was septic. She didn't offer to move us or compensate us. She said she'd have it looked into. She said she was sorry and that there was a few days before someone else rented it and she would have it looked into. That was it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. She obviously could not have cared less about us. Never again.​ read more

We stayed there for a week last summer, so July 2021. We booked a year in advance so we could be together as a group with 2 other parties. The photos online show nice clean grassy paved sites, however this was the dirtiest campsite we have had in a while. It was paved but covered in pine needles, no grass. We were not close to our other family members. There was a sewer smell at our hookups, we mentioned it in the office but it continued to smell all week long. I mentioned all this to the owners in an email after we checked out, I got a fairly rude reply from them, no apologies or any offer to make things better. Campground looks great online, and a lot of it is clean but not the site they put us on. Mainly retirees in park model trailers, very few families or transient campers. Would not go back, there are so many other options in the area. read more

We just returned from our second cross-country RV trip (and our second stay at Red Apple Campground). It is by far the nicest campground/RV park! Everything is beautiful and immaculate and the staff is friendly and very helpful. And the fresh cooked lobster delivered to our RV- what a treat! We really enjoyed it here! Our hosts were friendly as were our neighbors and the longer term residents that we met. The grounds were nice, restrooms immaculate. Very dog friendly, with a nice dog run to exercise your canine travelling companions. The high point is definitely the lobster delivery to your rv door! The 1.5# soft shelled lobsters were amazing! Our first stay here, last weekend for three nights. It is a very clean, quiet campground. The seasonal campers were very friendly. Place was very clean, especially the bath house! We ordered up a couple of lobsters at 9 a.m., they were delivered cooked, to our site at 5 p.m. Great feature. We definitely look forward to returning to this very well-run campground, located nearby to many of of favorite Maine attractions. read more

The facility is very well appointed and extremely clean with the pool, shower and laundry area centrally located. But the check in process was a bit overwhelming after a long drive and the fact that they don't except credit or debit cards was a bit strange. We actually checked out a day early as we got eaten alive by mosquitoes due to the stagnant river behind our tent site. Neighboring property also had a bunch of guys with four wheeler's and pick up trucks running all night waking our young daughter up. Seems like a good place to go for RVs but that the tents get overlooked and for the price I wouldn't really recommend it. read more

Owners are rude and arrogant .... Would not recommend .... We left MD early Friday morning for our destination of Red Apple Campground in Kennebunkport, ME. We had a reservation for 4 nights. On the way up our 5th wheel suffered a tire blowout so we called the campground to tell them we might be arriving later than expected. Called around 8PM and was told not to worry - they were staying open until at least 9:30PM, and to drive safely - and if we arrived after that they would have a packet with site info. About 35 miles from Red Apple Campground a second tire blew out, leaving us on the side of I95 in Portsmouth, NH. This happened around 9PM. The blowout damaged the main slide of our camper. I spent the next 4 hours on the side of I95 on the phone with Good Sam Emergency service trying to get a replacement tire or our 5th wheel towed. We had no luck and the NH State police recommended in hitching and going to a hotel until places opened later. At 9:30AM on Saturday I located a tire shop (Sullivan's in Portsmouth, NH) that had 4 tires and would take us right away. My wife called Red Apple campground at 9:30AM and told the owner what had happened. She was told that OUR reservation had been cancelled due to not showing up and there were no spots available. My wife was in tears - the owner was VERY RUDE to her. We drove back to MD since our reservation was cancelled. We were very disappointed. Today I called back to speak to the owner about what had happened. She was extremely rude. She told me they turn away dozens of people a day and we should have left a message. I told her we thought we were good until at least checkout time since we had paid a $69! Deposit, since I had contacted them the evening of our intended arrival and were told all would be fine. It is sad that the owner of this campground would treat someone so bad (she literally hung up on me today when I called her - I treated her very kindly during the conversation. She apparently was fine with cancelling my reservation and keeping my deposit - giving away our site before 9:30am the next day - way before checkout time of the first night we would have been there. It is sad that a business chooses to treat others as if they don't matter because they feel they have many others waiting for their services. We will recover from the tire blowouts and camper damage; however, we now have a very negative opinion of the owner of Red Apple Campground and would not recommend giving them business because of the way they treated us. read more

I have never seen a campground as well maintained as this. Wow! We had the lobster delivered to the campsite, melt in your mouth good! Owners David and Jane are really involved with this campground and are great folks to meet. The grounds are maintained to perfection, the grass is beautiful, common areas are immaculately clean. All vinyl in the stalls in the bathroom and shower areas, clean, clean, clean! The store and rec room are equally well maintained and the owners are extremely helpful in giving advice on where to go and what to do while in the area. This is absolutely the best maintained campground I have ever seen. The best! read more

I have been camping with a family of five for several years. This is a great place. The bathrooms are spotless and the grounds are immaculate. The staff and owners will bend over backwards to ensure you have a great time. They are very knowledgeable of all the best places to go. There are no scheduled children activities here but with the beaches and all the places to go in the area they aren't needed. The location of this campground is perfect as it is a 5 minute ride to Kennebunkport, 30 to Portland and 30 to Kittery. The pool is great and there is a playground, pickle ball court, shuffleboard and horseshoe area. Inside the camp store they have a pool table fooseball and a bunch of board games. The sites come with a picnic table and fire ring. They are clean and spacious. I find the place quiet and relaxing. read more

We've been traversing the country in our motorhome and the Red Apple Campground is right at the top of my "favorites" list. It's a beautiful location, clean and green with nice amenities. You can place an order for lobster at the office and they'll bring it right to your R.V. in the evening, fully cooked and ready to eat. It was great! The hosts sets very friendly as well. This is by far our new favorite place to go camping! You know the second you are on this property the owners take pride in their home...We have never seen a campground so well taken care of like this place. The grounds are perfectly manicured and there is everything you would need for comfort...each site is setup with water, electricity, fire pit, and a picnic table! There is a beautiful heated pool, a fabulous dog park area for your pet as well as a cute playground space for the kids! The bathroom area is wonderful, air conditioned and super clean! Dressing/ shower area are perfect for getting changed and the area is soooo well lit. I can't say enough about this place but if you need more how about the fact the owner will deliver your ordered lobsters to your campsite at night for dinner!! Amazing. We took our young grandkids here and there was so much to do they just loved it!! We used a tent this time and we are looking forward to renting a cute cabin for our next visit. In the years I have been coming here, it has become increasingly dissappointing. The owners, or people who run the place are either extremely rude or lack the knowledge to be helpful at all throughout your stay. Any issued I have brought up (many issues this season) have been given the cold shoulder or they have acted as if it was out of their control or they didnt know anything about it. I would not reccomend anyone stay here unless they are partial to property damage and cocky attitudes. Great location. Horrendous accomidation. read more

Not an enjoyable stay nor would I return. When you call they don't let you choose a site, they pick for you. We were with a group of two other families and we weren't really that close to them. Their pictures show neatly manicured sites, but ours was mostly pine needles and dirt. I was constantly sweeping. It's a convenient location to Southen Maine, but it felt more like a retirement community than a campground. Most of the "residents" are seasonals that live in park models. What they also don't tell you is that there is a firing range nearby, I don't have a problem with guns but my dog is extremely gun shy, it was a terrible weekend for her, and us. There was also a sewer smell that we kept smelling off and on during our stay. We mentioned it at the office and later found out that someone did come by to check it out but we never saw anyone. The smell persisted. I emailed this all to the owner after we checked out, and got a fairly rude and short reply back. Not great customer service. read more

Best campground by far in all of New England. Impeccably clean, beautifully landscaped and great owners. Very dog friendly and people friendly. There is no pool but several beaches are close by ; a pass is available). There is coffee all the time and a function room with kitchen. It is peaceful and is minutes from the tourist stores restaurants and historic sites. We have a motor home but Red Apple has tent sites and very cool cabins for rent. Cabins is the wrong description as they are very cleverly done with a front porch, rockers, barbecue, etc. read more

We stayed at the Red Apple Campground for the first time over July 4th week. We loved it! The owner Dave and staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy. It is a friendly place, clean and close to all the beaches and main attractions. Many amenities to stay busy like the pool, pickle ball court and shuffle board court. This is probably my favorite campground! We had car trouble and they sent down some of their employees to help us. When that didn't work they allowed us to stay as long as we needed to until the tow truck came. They are very helpful and accommodating! Will definitely be going back read more
