I got the dish with the Latke, chorizo sausage and hollandaise. I forget the name of it but it was terrible, aside from the perfectly cooked egg. The sausage was bitter from over spicing, the latke was dense, dry and lacked flavour. The hollandaise didn't even save it. It was also flavourless. The picked onions with the salad bits was lovely but got lost with the bitter tomato? sauce they smothered on it. My kids loves their eggs and bacon though. Just received a nice note from them apologizing for the hours of business discrepancy. They have straightened out that problem and have put in a kitchen to make nice goodies. I hear they also are putting in beer taps etc. we will most certainly be visiting next trip to Kamloops!! read more

I went past Red Beard on the bus and decided to walk back to it later because it looked so interesting and I'm always on the hunt for the best cafe/restaurants. The staff was awesome and knowledgeable; They recommended the Vegendary sandwich, which was very delicious. I would have liked it if a side was included, especially for lunch, without having to pay extra as their prices are a bit high. Their cold brew was bold and dark but not bitter. Before I left I also got a bag of their coffee beans (which I've been enjoying every morning) and an exceptional house made bagel. If only I could buy a dozen of those! read more

I did a quick search for the best espresso in Kamloops and this was one of the top four. However, it was the first of three I visited that day, and the coffee was clearly a cut above the other two. It was smooth without being watery, and the extraction was neither sour nor burnt. All in all a pleasant experience -- great tasting espresso, affordable, easy & free parking right on its lot, with friendly and prompt service. The other patrons were also friendly, and there was plenty of room, inside and out. The only knock is that it's a little rough in terms of cleanliness. No, it wasn't bad, not too untypical most coffeehouses in British Columbia, but an improvement in that department would have brought it 5 stars. I'd say the short trip across the river from right downtown is absolutely worth it. read more

This was my first time coming here while living in Kamloops for the past 13 years! I tried their mocha in the 16oz size. Having tried pretty much every mocha in the book, this was easily one of the best. Perfect ratios with the perfect frothy texture. Topped off with the cutest foam art swan !! The menu is small but there is something for everyone; from game to vegetarian to classics like club sandwich and grilled cheese, elevated to a whole new level. Blueberry balsamic ketchup - what!?! Food was good, beer selection excellent. Saturday night was not super busy, but service was a bit inattentive. Dog friendly patio is a plus for us as new puppy owners, (but something to be aware of if you are not a dog fan). Food also not very "kid friendly". Red Beard seems to have really hit their stride, YAY! I hadn't been in for quite some time but when I stopped by yesterday it was really happening. Lots of interesting beers (and ciders) on tap. I really want to love Red Beard, I really do. They try super hard. They have an outstanding selection of brews and ciders and I'm always happy with what is on tap. The food is a little pricey for what you get, and their plating could use some coaching. Their social media presence is weak, and when it is there, it is often fraught with errors and a lack of a professional touch. I'm going to keep coming here, because I love this style of cafe, and want to see places like this thrive in Kamloops. But I want to see them step up their game a bit more. This is a great restaurant. The menu is creatively and thoughtfully put together. We had the chicken club and pork chutney flatbread. The chicken club is probably as close to a standard as they have and deservedly so. A delicious combination of soft tasty roll, chicken, bacon, chipotle mayo and cheddar cheese. The flatbread was a great combination of savory and sweet. Add to this a very good variety of beers on tap and it's hard to beat. The prices are reasonable too. read more

Coffee roasted on site, scaa quality, similar to madcap, counter culture, etc. Very good cafe menu, beer selection, cider selection. Equally good at coffee as they are at being a gastro pub, similar to down house in Houston, but with houndstooth (atx) or once over (atx) quality coffee. read more

I love the atmosphere, location and especially the lovely staff at RedBeard. I hope and am sure it will continue to thrive. The only reason I am posting a rather poor rating is because every time I come in to eat, the food is almost delicious, but seems to be overly-fatty and often feels as though it just misses the mark of the superior quality high-level cafe food I know they are aiming for. The food is nicely flavored as it is, so the extra oils/fats are truly unnecessary and only serve to detract. Also some of the pairings of the mains with their sides just miss the mark as well, often feeling redundant (ex: heavy with heavy). I had the mushroom stew today, it could have been amazing had it not been so rich and the pairing with yam-chips was odd (and I don't mean in a 'surprisingly good way'). I hope the good people of RedBeard see this and can use my review and criticism to help them achieve the quality that I know they can. It is a tad pricy as well, but that's okay because I come only once in a while as a treat. read more
