We hired Red Carpet to redo our roof. It was that time, and we were hoping to hire someone local here in Maryland. Fortunately, we ran into RCR at our local farmer's market in Crofton. After a nice chat with their team (Jack & Angie) at the market, we set up an initial consultation to provide the free estimate. Jack and Angie were in great communication with us to not only set up the appointment, but to remind us of it the day before as well. Jack showed up in the time frame given, and he was in and out in about an hour after discussing our options and the pricing. We then scheduled the actual construction for when the weather was more cooperative. Their team showed up on time, and they finished installing the new roof well within the day they had promised (I think it was about 6 hours total). They left no trace of their work, and they cleaned up everything that they had done before they left. The new roof looks great! We couldn't have been happier with the service and product provided by the entire team. I'm very glad we kept it local and with a very friendly small business here in Maryland. I met the representative from Red Carpet at our local farmers market. I had done a little research on replacement windows. I was happy that the owner Ken came over for the demonstration. Very low key, no hard sell. The price for my 8 windows was less than expected. I even asked about a glass door for my front door. He told me the one I had was fine and unless I was planning to redo the entire entryway, it would not be worth replacing it. I was contacted for measurements. They arrived as expected and were able to do it with all my family members working and studying at home. The windows were ready several weeks early. Red Carpet Remodeling replaced our roof in 2019! I didn't realize how much that would cost until I started getting bids and realized our roof was insanely big. If you're looking for the cheapest roof you should look elsewhere. To be clear RCR wasn't the highest bid. I had a bid that was double RCR's. Lower bidders offered to cut corners on material and workers. Ken remained firm that the only way they would do it was right. He was willing to negotiate but not willing to put subpar material on my roof or cut corners. Considering it protects the largest investment I have it didn't make sense to me to cut corners. The crew and staff were very respectful of our time and home. I see some bad reviews here from 2015/16 and unlike my experience entirely. It's possible they've replaced the humans that gave them a bad rap. The people I worked with knew what they were about and had a step by step process to bring our job to fruition. The material (shingle) was superb and the craftsman that did the job did good work. It's been 1 year since our roof was installed and we've had no problems. Not a single shingle or nail was found in our yard. With a dog and kids in my yard that means a lot. The roof installer (perhaps foreman) was very easy to work with. Clear instructions before and during the installation. I could tell he'd done this a zillion times and enjoyed working with Ken as he stated he was "able to put on the right roof, the right way". read more

I met Red Carpet at the Bethesda Market just when I was soliciting roofing quotes so I decided to toss them into the mix. Ken contacted me and we met in person to look over the job (rather large). He is a straightforward, very engaging, down-to-earth small business man who considers his clients like family with regard to how customer service should be conducted. He did not disappoint. Weather delayed the job a few weeks but he worked to get everything back on track ASAP. The crew showed up a did the entire 5000 sq. ft. in a day! (clean up the next). I can not recommend this vendor. I stumbled upon this business's booth during our local "night out" festivities. I agreed to meet and get an estimate and got a straightforward assessment of our home's current needs. We want to replace some old windows and our main entry door. Ken, the owner, advised against replacing siding claiming that it would look great with a simple washing. We received an estimate for the windows and door but, contrary to another review, we did get the ultimatum that the price was only good until he left. I explained that I simply wanted other estimates to compare at which point he assured me that he wasn't the lowest or highest priced but that he could assure me that his company provided the best value for the money. I refused a few more times but eventually wore down (against my better instincts) and allowed myself to be convinced that this family-owned business deserved a chance. That's where the positive experience ends. We were advised that measurements would be taken, supplies ordered, and that we could expect to wait until October/November for the work to be completed. All of that was acceptable as we weren't in a rush. The measurements were taken on schedule and that's where the first problem arose. Our estimate from Ken had counted one less window than was present within our sunroom. Bear in mind, it's a wide-open space in which we spent the majority of our time, both inside and out, discussing the products used by his company and the techniques that would allow them to restore our doorways without the need to replace the doors. This one easily avoidable mistake raised our estimate by nearly $1,300. Next, there was the entryway door. At the time of the consultation with Ken, we were promised that a professional designer would consult with us to finalize the style of door to be installed to ensure we were happy with it as well as ensuring it was appropriate for our home. What we received, instead, was a rendering from one of the staff that was handled in a manner I would assume an insurance company would handle it. We were provided a "rendering" of the door (which was simply a pdf of the door attached to an email) that contained a very basic door. When I explained that the door suggested didn't match the type of doors throughout our home, I was met with confusion and then falsely assured it was fine. When I did my own research (by surveying the other homes in our neighborhood and other doors from the same company), I learned that my concerns were justified and what I was being pressured to accept was completely inappropriate. To wrap this up, I requested my deposit back as it became obvious to me that my concerns were legitimate. After several repeated demands and finally advising that I would involve the MHIC, I finally received a full refund. read more

They have repaired my stairs now 3 times because they literally are falling apart. now they are refusing to take my calls. I have stairs that are falling apart, flowers, weeds and bushes growing through the stones. Yet the owner KENNETH LINDNER refuses to call me back. they do not answer their phones instead have an answering service they go through for screening. I even spoke to his wife however she promised someone would call back NOPE. now you call the MD number and it too goes to the answering service. Very professional, reliable and friendly. They did a great job. After it was finished 2 of my outdoor lights (with sensors) did not work. Andy took care of it , came back twice, changed the lights and bought new sensors. I am very happy and would recommend them to anyone. My house and my 2 back buildings looks great. We used Red carpet remodeling about 5 -6 years ago, for 1 sliding glass door and about 40 windows replacement in our home. We did our home work and called a few contractors for pricing. It was pretty discouraging most of them using high pressure sales tactics except Red Carpet. Ken, the guy we delt with, was very profesional and responsive at all times. About 5 months after install our sliding latch was acting up , picked up the phone called and they sent some one out fairly quickly and solved the issue. Total scam. 0% for one year on a remodel sounds good until you find out that they want to charge you $135,000.00 for about 40 grand worth of work, if that. They same windows they wanted to sell me for $1000, I bought from and building supply for 300 dollars. These windows were top of the line premium windows that you're not going to find at Lowe's or Home Depot or even many contractors. My rating at this time reflects my experience trying to get warranty work done. We contracted with Red Carpet Remodeling in 2011 to trim wrap all exposed wood on our home. After they'd completed the work, I noticed trim where the roof changes elevation was still tan painted wood and all the new trim was white anodized aluminum. RCR came out and "fixed" it and it looked fine, until now when a neighbor came over to tell me something was flapping on my roof. The trim had been covered with a white vinyl-coated metal and the vinyl was tearing and ripping off - I now have several pieces that have blown into my yard. RCR keeps saying they'll come out, but once I mentioned my contract says Lifetime / Transferable / Labor for Life Warranty, I no longer get called back. read more

This is honestly the first review I've ever written about any company because I'm a very understanding person (I realize things happen), but I felt given the expense of building a deck, people should know about this company. - We met them at the Dulles Expo Home show along with many other deck builders (great, courteous) - After interviewing all of the deck builders, comparing quality and cost, we decided to move forward with Red Carpet Remodeling. They weren't the lowest priced option, but they were reasonable and proposed the best quality solution for what we wanted. (salesman was great) - Once the deck building started, we were happy with the individual construction man. He seemed knowledgeable, was honest with us as we worked through any decisions that needed to be made during the building process, and took extra steps to ensure we received a good quality product. - The only problem we had during deck building was they had an issue internally and I had to beg them to come finish our deck. Once they finally told me what was going on, I was understanding but I would appreciate some communication, not just disappearing. Now flash forward a few years... - The corner of our deck is an angled corner and it is falling apart - has completely separated from the rest of the deck. We do not have kids so nobody has sat on it, climbed on it, leaned on it - nothing. - For the past 2 weeks I have called Red Carpet Remodeling as our deck is still under warranty. NOTHING. Nobody returns my calls. The last time I called, I asked how repeating the same steps (leaving my phone #) was going to produce different results? I asked if there was a different phone number I could use. I'm told the office has no availability to talk. - Since the corner is completely detached from the deck, we were concerned with waiting too long to fix it so we started trying to figure out what we could do on our own. - After taking some measurements, we dug our paperwork out so we could confirm the color of the trex. After reviewing the paperwork and comparing our measurements, it looks like we were charged for larger boards but they used smaller ones!!! Service Turnaround! Seems so... Had a completely different / improved service performance on a recent (Oct. 11-29, 2015) fix under warranty. Quick response to my request for service. A much more professional lead person / contact who assessed the problem and set up the actual service. Plus personal contact and follow-ups by one of the owners. Good timely communications re. appointments. Really, like night and day compared to my last interaction. I would have gone to 5 Stars were this not the 3rd time 'fixes" have been required in a relatively short amount of time.
