Apparently they are unfamiliar with the fact that they are on Groupon so I had to call back when someone from the company was in the office to get on the schedule. They had availability for two weeks later. I wasn't in a rush so I don't mind the wait. I wasn't scheduled for the 12-4 time window. On the day of I had a work commitment that came up last minute. They were very accommodating when I called so I was pushed further back on the timeslot till after 3 PM so I could be home for the service. The technician Isaiah arrived and informed me what he was going to do. Afterwards he sent me a detailed report with photographs of my gutter system. Thankfully, everything looked good and I did not require any additional services after the cleaning and tuneup.

For the first time I realize I had been hearing a fair amount of outside noise (which I'd apparently gotten used to), because these windows/doors are soundproof; now I don't hear anything at all from outside! And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great. Highly recommended.

Overall, the…read morequality, workmanship, and attention to details were highly evident throughout the entire project. The project manager, Jason, was on site every 2-3 days to ensure the work was proceeding as discussed. He was easily reachable by phone during the entire project. VKB was able to place 2 teams on site which allowed the work to be completed in 4.5 weeks instead of 6-7 weeks which would have been normal. The team lead on site, Walter, was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the project (demolition, prep, electrical, plumbing, fixtures, paint, etc.). He has an excellent team of workers that rotated across the various tasks in each bathroom. My wife and I were very pleased at the finished results. Everything came together very nicely. We would highly recommend VKB for your bathroom remodeling. With that said, I offer a few suggestions for potential clients to consider. Customers should make sure they know exactly what they want to do. While change orders can be made after the project is started, it costs more than if the project scope was defined from the beginning. Also, I recommend looking at www.build.com to pre-select the fixtures that are needed prior to scheduling the meeting with the designer. Trying to select all the fixtures for the bathroom within 60-90 minutes in the showroom can be challenging.

But no…read moreone responds to my emails, texts or survey responses, so I will share them here in the hopes that no one has to go through the stress of working with this unethical company. The showroom is nice, but I immediately had doubts that my designer was a "designer." She later told me she was a promoted project manager, which then made sense. When I met my project manager, he promised daily communication, daily trash removal and check-ins as we went to make sure everything was going correctly. I have not gotten any of that. I have subcontractors that do not speak a word of English. Nada. I speak some Spanish but true communication is very difficult. I never know when the crew will arrive or if they will even arrive. They have shown up without notification at random hours during the day when I have not been home and have entered without my permission. Even after I requested they stop doing that, it continued. They were so careless with the demo of the upstairs bathroom that they split my dining room ceiling open below and cracked the bookshelf in my office next door from their pounding (see photos). Trash has piled up in my driveway for more than a week on the regular. My project manager, Samuel, gets in touch when he feels like it and drops out when he doesn't want to deal with problems. There is NO contact information available for anyone higher up than your project manager and when your project manager is the problem, there is no recourse. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a home improvement company and along with the other here and on Reddit, I will make it my mission that VKB discontinues what essentially amounts to scamming customers with a list of promises they don't intend to keep. I have already paid them 2/3 of the job and they haven't even done enough work to warrant 1/3 of the money months into the project. (I have near daily documentation to back these claims up.) Please do yourself a huge favor and avoid going anywhere near VKB.

From start to finish,…read moretheir communication, project management, quality of work, and ability to stay on schedule were outstanding. H&C was not the least expensive quote I received, but they also weren't the most expensive. In my experience, the value they delivered more than justified the investment. One of the things I found particularly valuable was the project management app they use. It made it easy to manage the project from end to end, stay informed, review decisions, and keep everything organized in one place. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. The fact that I chose to work with them a second time says a lot about my confidence in their team and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend H&C Construction to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. They are professional, organized, communicative, and committed to delivering quality work--and they made what can be a stressful process feel very well managed.

I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

I moved into a new home and found James to help with jobs that were not too small but not big enough to hire a big crew and pay the high price tag. He was the most perfect handyman who came with his magic wand!! James helped with the following things - - Wired flood light Re-installation, which was too high for me to reach (like 30 ft tall, at the corner top/near roof of the house) and the previous one was broken and barely hanging on. - Stairs hand rail reinstallation. The handle was becoming loose from the wall because it was installed incorrectly by the previous owners and fixer uppers - Dining room chandelier electrical wiring troubleshoot - Main entrance new door lock replacement and installation - Outer foyer stone rebalance and fill ins. I found James through a word of mouth and Thumbtack. I cannot say enough good things about this guy as he went above and beyond and made this experience easy and smooth! Before I hired James, I went to his website which shows his previous projects and this assured me that he knows what he's doing. When I called, he responded quickly and came out to give me a quote, which was most reasonable to me compared to 3 other services I called. He started right away and he completed everything within a few hours. He pointed out what was done incorrectly from previous owners' fixer upper projects and reDid it correctly. He is a professional worth hiring to fix what had now become my problem with a new home. In the end, James even gave me tips on my future home improvement projects. He cleaned everything up with no mess left behind!

We had a leak in our upstairs bathroom that leaked into our kitchen cabinets that were only a few years old. The cabinets were damaged and the ceiling destroyed. Not wanting to replace all of our kitchen cabinets, James rebuilt the damaged cabinets from scratch and they were an exact match for our kitchen cabinets. He really put great effort into getting the color matched. He reinstalled them and they look just like they did before the damage. His pricing was very fair. He gets my highest recommendation.

My husband and I have been taking our time remodeling our home and it was finally time to tackle…read morethe master bathroom. We wanted to make our shower bigger and replace our built-in tub for a stand alone tub. We contacted 3 companies for an estimate. One contractor flaked and called the morning of the appointment saying he couldn't make it. He suggested we do a zoom consultation. When I asked how he would get the measurements, he said it was "just" a bathroom and he didn't intend on doing sketches anyways. His condescension made me cancel everything with him. The second contractors was nice, but had a high estimate, then suggested we purchase low end materials to save on the cost. He gave us the estimate right away, then pressured us to accept it right then. He offered a $1K discount if we agreed before he left, but what's $1K on a $32K price tag,so we told him we had 1 more contractor to meet with. And then there was Mr. Luis. He came in with a smile, removed his shoes and actually listened to all my concerns about my current bathroom and my dreams about my future one. He took his measurements and then repeated back the things I said I really wanted. There was no pressure and he said he would contact me in a few days with an estimate. It took him about 4 days to get back to me. Not only was his estimate significantly less, but it also came with a computer generated rendition of my bathroom space from multiple angles. I had sent him some tile patterns I liked, and he had them in the image, so I could really visualize my new bathroom. He did the rendition 2 more times with different tile patterns I sent him to help me choose the one I really liked. I also want to note that he could've easily charged more because I told him I thought it was going to cost $40K when he came to do the estimate, but he still gave me his honest price. We set a date for work to start after I paid a 33% deposit. His team, led by Mr. Wilson, were punctual and really respected my home. They draped wherever they needed to walk and they walled off my bedroom with plastic so dust and debris wouldn't get all over my living space. Mr. Wilson answered all my questions and kept me updated on everything being done each day. He assisted me in buying some of my products. His team kept everything very tidy when they left each day. He was a dream from start to finish. The 2nd deposit was due when the tile install began. Mr. Carlos did all of the tiling himself. He gave his professional opinion about the tile I chose for the shower floor, which led me to use the same tile as the shower walls and honestly, I like it better. The bathroom was completed in 2 weeks. The last deposit is due upon completion. When all the work was done, they polished and cleaned the entire bathroom AND several surfaces in my bedroom. They wiped down and dusted the TV stand and fireplace (both in the sitting area outside of the bathroom). They had only gotten a small amount of dust on them from the construction, so I just planned to dust when they were finished, but they did it for me without me asking. They also wiped down the bannister as they exited. As a mom of 3 kids under 5, I appreciated that more than they know. I've had people work in my house before who were neat, but I have never had a team clean up after themselves as thoroughly as this one. I'd also like to mention his office manager, Ms. Gigi, handled the administrative side seamlessly. She also answered all of my emails promptly. I absolutely LOVE my new bathroom and I will definitely use them for projects in the future. Anyone looking for honest and skillful contractors should use this company.
