I would recommend ordering everything you want the first time they come around. The restaurant is not very large and I have waited 10-15 minutes for some extra sauce when they aren't busy. This is my 10 year olds go to spot when he's in the mood for sushi. His favorite roll is the foxy lady. This trip we came with my 20 year old daughter as well. We all enjoyed our meals. My daughter finally ordered mango rice which none of us have had before. It had a beautiful presentation. She also ordered various single pieces of sushi and sashimi. Her critique was the tuna sashimi was cut too thick which took away from its appeal. I tried her scallop sushi which was so sweet and delicate- I loved the flavor and texture. My son had the foxy lady which was superb as always. I ordered Tomyum soup with chicken. This is the first time I didn't enjoy this soup. The asparagus was perfectly cooked but the broth was a bit off today. It didn't have the aromatic sweet and sour taste that I typically enjoy. They were kind and removed it from my check. I also had the coconut shrimp tempura roll and summer roll. The coconut shrimp tempura is very good but I prefer the crunch of plain shrimp tempura. Just a personal preference- they did nothing wrong. The summer roll was amazing as usual. All in all this was a great experience. The waiter was kind and quick. The food was great. I'm hoping the Tom yum was just a one off- as this is something I've been ordering for years and throughly enjoyed in the past. read more

12.27.21 I recently found another one of my new go to spots for sushi when I'm in this Waterbury area. I try to have at least one spot in each town for when I have the sushi craving which is often. I started going here a short while ago and I've been back many times since my first time. I was pleasantly surprised that this town has, in my opinion, a go to sushi spot that is worth stopping at and continuing to stop at. The service has been very good with both dining in and to go/take out options. They're very pleasant and hospitable here. The restaurant is clean every time I've been here. It's a cool looking place inside with vibrant colored lights and a nice vibe. The sushi is always fresh with no complaints at all. There's an average sized parking lot with ease of access into it from the main road and easy access back out onto the main road. You'll be happy you ended up stopping by and trying them out as I have. read more

Ordered 3 takeout filet hibachi meals. Came with both noodles & rice as well as veggies and either soup/salad. Packed nicely where all components are separated. Filet cooked how each of us wanted it...very tender. They also provided a bag with 2 different individual sauces for the filet as well as soy sauce, napkins and chop sticks. Ordered on-line and picked up/paid at the stand where you walk in. Looked like a nice place to eat inside if you prefer. Food was excellent. I'm going to start off with what was good. The restaurant wAs well decorated and had a pretty layout/ambiance. I got the Thai summer rolls as an app and they were phenomenal; my husband got the shrimp dumplings and those he loved. We also had amazing service tonight by Elisha. However the service is not enough to make me want to come back after tonight. My husband got the hibachi steak and chicken. About half way through, he found a small green worm (which is more than likely from the vegetables, but still enough to not make him want to eat it nor should you be expected to). A gentleman came to our table and explained why the bug was probably there (again we understand but most people don't want to eat the food if they find a bug in it) and offered to make him another. Okay great. I ordered two rolls but I ended up not liking one at all and couldn't eat it. When the waitress came I told her that. They said they could fix the issue with the hibachi but that I would have to pay for the roll. NBD -I ordered it and didn't like it that makes sense it's not their fault. But when I got the bill, they didn't comp the (worm)-achi. On top of this, the roll I got that I did like was cooked shrimp and most of the pieces still had the poop line in it. At this point though it wasn't even worth mentioning. Pros: good portions, good waitress Cons: bad handling of something that had a common sense solution I appreciate that they remade my husbands dinner and they used product that cost money, however any other establishment would have remade the food on the house and apologized. read more

I do consider myself a sushi guy, and I've eaten at some outstanding places, so please don't think I'm downplaying the sushi at Red Corner. I had several different items, including a few rolls, hand roll, and nigiri. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon were great and had the perfect amount of chili heat. I had the spicy tuna in a maki roll and hand roll. Also great was the spicy scallop roll. Highly recommend any of those. The nigiri (different raw fish pieces on top of rice) was also fresh and tasty. The squid was decent, but nothing quite like eating it made in front of you directly from the live squid. Salmon, tuna, and white tuna was fresh and very soft with little chew. Finally, the eel was sweet, sticky, and delicious as it should be. So, look, if you are a sushi geek, please give this place a try. Oh, get the miso soup, too. read more

In town briefly and was craving sushi. Saw the reviews so I decided to give it a try. I got the spicy roll sushi entree which came with a spicy tuna roll a spicy salmon roll and a spicy yellowtail roll. All rolls tasted almost identical. They all had a very fishy taste in a way I could only describe as like canned tuna fish. Obviously it wasn't that but that's what it tasted like. I also got a vegetable roll which was good, tasted exactly as I expected. The sushi entree came with miso soup. The soup had no flavor. I cannot speak to service since I got takeout. I'm a life long NY'er from Manhattan's Upper West Side. I wasn't sure I would like this place. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a few things I like to call comfort food, just the basics. Nothing disappointed. I don't usually like my salmon rolls minced, I prefer whole chunks of salmon in my rolls but these were still enjoyable. This review is a tale of love found, love lost, and love found again. The former restaurant that was located here was one of our favorites of all time, ever. When "Kumo" closed its doors, much sadness ensued. We had eaten there at least 50 times and loved every minute of every meal. We even had a couple of late nights of heavy close to blacking out saki-bomb consumption with the owner, so you can understand our reaction to seeing the doors close. Our love ran so deep in fact, that when we saw a NEW place had moved in we didn't even consider trying it. How could it ever live up to Kumo? How could we ever find the happiness here that we found there? This went on for a couple of years and after driving by the new place at least 20 times. But last week, we found ourselves ready. The main reason was that my wife was at a work function at the bowling alley right up the road and we just wanted something really close by. It was time to roll the dice! We arrived at about 6pm on a Friday night and the place was hopping. Not packed by any means, but a decent crowd for that time and day. Great start! Atmosphere-wise it was almost identical to Kumo, which was also good. Nice dim lighting, spacious and very low noise level. Awesome. We were seated right away and began to scan the menu. As far as "what" this place offers, it's about exactly the perfect definition of "Asian Fusion". A great mix of a few different Asian categories. Sushi, Thai, Hibachi and even some upscale versions of standard Chinese dishes. My lady decided to go with a pretty standard Sushi roll special and I went with their take on Kung Pao, the "Kung Pao Jalapeno". One thing we NEVER skimp on is the apps. In this case that meant Shrimp Steamed Dumplings and the "Money Bags". As far as the apps go, these were things we've ordered 100 times at other places and hands down, not even close, these were the best. The dumplings were perfectly steamed and stuffed with just this amazing and magical shrimp wad of love. Just completely insane. The Money Bags, which are basically my go-to app at every Thai place we go to, were just about perfect on their own. But then they went and topped each one with a thin slice of jalapeno and then drizzled them with some sort of magical orange sauce that was like nothing we've ever tasted. Entree's came out quickly and before we even dug in, the visual presentation was off the charts. Just plated so elegantly, even if it wasn't going to taste good, it LOOKED amazing. That being said, it also TASTED amazing. A lot of times when you get any kind of chicken dish from a Chinese place the chicken is just, ya know...kind of not really amazing. The chicken here tasted like it was just sliced and expertly seasoned and it literally ruined me from ordering Kung-Pao anywhere else ever again. On the Sushi front, a very similar story. We've eaten and more "par" Sushi places that I can even remember. You know, it's "good", but that's about it. This stuff was beyond good and again, the presentation was just off the charts. Service was perfection. We were taken care of and checked on by multiple members of the staff and they were just some of the nicest people we've ever dealt with. Pricing? Again, for what we got and how good it was, I would have paid double. Super reasonable. The moral here is that when you get hurt and knocked down, leave yourself open to try new things. Skip right over all that denial, anger, bargaining and depression and just open right up with acceptance. Your mouth will thank you in the morning. read more

So, we heard good things about this place so why not? This inside is beautiful and the staff greet you right away. To be honest our waitress seemed new and needed some prompting for the correct glasses of wine we ordered but that's okay she seemed young. Well our taste buds were so happy!!
