I made the mistake of giving this place another try last week. I ordered the general Taos chicken & fried rice. The chicken was so over fried I couldn't even chew it. The sauce was weird too tangy and not even any flavor to it at all. The rice had egg in it too. That would have been nice to know. The place is clean and the staff that rang my meal up and took my order were friendly. Sushi was amazing! Was looking to try something different so I tried the black dragon roll (avocado, eel, shrimp tempura) - so good! The avocado cucumber roll was also very good, such a classic you can't go wrong. I also had the house spring rolls, came with 2 in an order - so good! It was decently busy between takeouts and dine-in, but the food was delivered promptly and fresh. My server Sydney was definitely a highlight of the dining experience! Whether you dine in or take out Cheng Square is always my family's first choice for chinese and sushi! With a huge variety on their menu, there is something for everyone! When dining in, they provide you with a really good jasmine tea and chips while you're waiting for your meal! Their portion sizes are perfect and filling and the food is always piping hot! We've all heard and possibly even made the "10 Minute" Chinese Food joke. I mean, why not? It writes itself and it's almost always kind of sort of funny. What's NOT funny is that to be honest, I don't WANT my food ready in 10 minutes. The only thing that should come out in 10 minutes is a salad and maybe an appetizer. If my take-out order is ready in 10 minutes, that says a lot of things that I don't want to be said about my dinner. We decided to try this place for the first time the other night on a few recommendations from friends and family. At this point, we've tried literally every single other Chinese Food option in a 10-mile radius so why not! As with most first contact situations, this was going to be a kind of light, take-out test run. It was just my daughter and me, so there was going to be a huge discovery opportunity here, but we decided to hit a couple of obvious options: Unique appetizer, "standard" Chinese food dish, Sushi roll, and a unique specialty dish. Put the call in around 5:30 on a Tuesday night and got our order in. The gent that answered the phone was super polite and read everything back to make sure we got exactly what we ordered. Love that! Once we were square, he said "Thank you, your order with be ready in.....................................................................THIRTY MINUTES!!!" He didn't actually pause and yell like that, I added that for emphasis. The point is, the 30-minute wait was a plus for me. Arrived right at the 30-minute mark and the food was just coming out of the kitchen, perfect. Price was right on point and we were in and out. On to the food.... Appetizer: Apparently there is a thing called "Szechuan Dumplings" that I've never heard of and someone forgot to tell me about. All I'll say is this, get them. Completely unique twist on a common app. 10/10 on those. Standard Dish: My daughter is a LoMein FIEND and I've watched her consume more of it than I can remember. Her take on the Port LoMein here? "Really good". I also tried it and I will say that it wasn't as salty as others I've had and the noodles were firmer than most, both of which I loved. 7/10 Sushi Roll: We got the Samurai specialty roll and I'll say this, it was better than I expected. It wasn't good enough to make me go here SPECIFICALLY for Sushi, but it was good enough that I'd order one if I was here anyway. Not life-changing, but high quality and really tasty. 6/10 Specialty Dish: Although I was kind of leaning towards something straight spicy, the "Black Pepper Chicken" specialty dish caught my eye right away. It was nothing I'd ever ordered before and honestly don't ever remember seeing it on a menu before. It was good, REALLY good. Very peppery (obviously), but not enough to outweigh the other flavors. The typical mix of Chinese vegetables and a nice garlic-ey sauce. Big fan and will definitely get this again. 7/10 Again, we did the take out thing, but the dining room seemed nice and clean and pretty cozy. The servers were back and forth all over the place so I'm assuming that is covered as well. Our next contact will be for dine-in, but at this point, I would say that this is the BEST Chinese option within a 10-mile radius. We're fans! read more

I am always happy after I had a dinner from the Cheng Square. This place is the bomb. The service is excellent; the ambience is pleasant and inviting; and the chips are addicting. I had boneless ribs, and they were sweet. It brought me back to my childhood days of smacking my tongue around my favorite candy. They are so, so good. My wife was in the third heaven with her California roll, salad, and soup. True Nirvana. I got my second Diet Pepsi, and extra chips. We then each received the traditional Chinese fortune cookie and decided after we left to get two powerball tickets. My wife enjoyed her green salad which was very large, served with ginger dressing. As far as sushi went, I had the Godzilla roll. Generous portion, amazing flavor. My wife had the Angel Hair roll which too was nicely put together and a California roll, her go to. The night started off with hot green tea and chips st the table with duck sauce. Very disappointed in their customer service yesterday. We ordered over $160 worth of food. When we got home we noticed that the 6 egg rolls were missing from our order. I called and the girl that answered the phone said oh yes they are in there! She then said we could come back and get them or get a credit for next time. We drove back, the large ponytailed man slammed them on the counter and said "here's your egg rolls" no one offered an apology. When my friend asked if they double check everything is in the bag/order he was rude. He told my friend "I'm sorry your life is so tough" because she mentioned it being inconvenient. They opened a month ago ( Aprox June 2010) and it's nicely decorated inside. They even use re-usable black chop sticks which is kinda upscale for most sushi/chinese places in this area. They provide you complimentary green tea which is think all asian places should. The waitress was nice and very attentive. I went there with a co-worker for lunch. We ordered scallion pancakes that comes with some form of hoisin sauce and iceberg lettuce. You can get chinese food but we opted for the Japanese fare. We ordered, a spicy tuna /tempura roll, lobster roll and double seafood roll. Everything was good. I especially like the double seafood roll because it had a unique flavor and look which is hard to find since every sushi combination has usually been done on evey sushi menu. It had cooked fish or crab in the middle and imitation crab drapped in long slices over each piece, and a brown-eel-type sauce drizzled over it. I hope it does well because it's a comfortable place with plenty of meal options and is near my work. We have been coming here for years. After a visit this weekend, I felt the need to write a review. We have had fantastic waitresses in the past few years and we have had those who are not so pleasant. Our favorite waitress is no longer there so we are trying to find one to request every time we go. Melissa is a joy to work with as is Susie. On Friday night Susie was our waitress. We went to the restaurant in sort of a rush and did not want to wait 15 minutes for a table to clear. So we opted to sit at the bar. Susie was efficient, she came right over to take our order. We had to be somewhere in an hour and from the time we sat down to the time we paid our bill was twenty minutes! They were slammed to boot between take out orders, dine in orders, and call aheads. This is located in the Middlebury Edge medical arts plaza next to Vinnie's Pizza and Legends of Superheros comic book store. Came here to dine in on a Sunday afternoon. Very empty. Was served by a nursing student in hot yoga pants. Sunday sushi special is 1 free regular roll with the order of 2 regular rolls. The rolls were on the small side but otherwise pretty good - I got a salmon skin roll, boston roll, and yellowtail veg roll with scallions (other veg choice was cucumber). The yellowtail roll didn't have very many scallions... For entrees we ordered a Four Seasons and a Vegetable Chow Fun. So they have the Chow Fun with the thick rice noodles, which was nice. Also requested no added sodium and they obliged but this meant that nothing had sauce, except the salmon skin roll. read more
