    seafood boils
    Asia C.

Last night I visited this spot with some friends and the evening started off great. The food was a generous portion and was piping hot and seasoned well and the drinks were good. Our alcohol of choice for the evening Dusse (allegedly) and we had 3 different seafood boils... garlic butter, house mix and a mild one. The service was fine, music was cool and everything was satisfactory. Until hours later when everyone in my party became ill. This leaves me to believe that the establishment is either selling fake liquor or not properly handling the food in the kitchen. There's no way that all three of us became ill when the only thing we had in common was eating at this establishment. I was the first person to become sick a few hours after leaving in the spot and my friends follow suit in the wee hours of the morning. It's incredibly unfortunate because I thought I had found my new favorite seafood spot... but not at the cost of my health and well-being. I recommend you stay away unless you want to be dehydrated and have bubble guts.... Ugh!

Came here with my girlfriends because I was craving seafood. The spot itself is nice, pretty similar to other seafood places. The boil bag was seasoned really well and everything was cooked perfectly. Drinks were strong, but oddly on the warm side. I'll come again one day when I'm in bk

Food - 3/5 the salmon bites had flavor although greasy. The crab cakes are a hit ! Also had the shrimp pasta and red and white sangrias. The white was way better than the red sangria. Service- 3/5 it wasn't too busy on a cold Thursday and still we sat and waited for the entrees for over 25 minutes... it was pasta ... Ambiance 4/5 very large space, upon entry there's a bar in the middle and a large dining area in the back. Decor is different. Still cool. No DJ that night. Also, was a bit cold inside so I kept my jacket around me. Overall 3/5. 1 thumbs up. May return.

If you in the mood for seafood and don't want to travel for it, this place hits the spot. Service was friendly, and efficient. We had the snow crab tray for two, and are taking a bag full home with extras. The ambience of the place is nice. It's right on the belt, near shopping, and there's parking. My only slight issue was the tip, we were charged 18% service and were given as an option to give more to the waiter specifically. It was just me and my wife. I took away a star for this, But our waiter Kayla was excellent so we did. Still recommend a visit, the food was good and the drink I had, worked its effect.

Beware you will be charged an 18% service charge. They got me because I gave a 26% tip on top of it because I didn't see the charge. Service was mediocre at best. The server did not check on me once during my meal or ask if everything is ok. I had to get her attention when I wanted to pay. She did the absolute bare minimum and I bet I know why. It was early so the place was kind of empty. The food was fresh and came out in less. than 10 minutes. You get a decent size portion and the prices are not bad. The R n B 90s/early 2000 music was cool but it was hella loud. You will have to shout to be heard. I can imagine its much worse when the place is crowded. Some of the reviews said this is a hood spot, that's good to know. I don't do hood places. If I come back it would be during off hours and order to go. The service charge is a turn off too. Owners only do this in establishments that service predominately B L K people. They provide parking validation if you park in the attached parking lot.

Came on a Friday night, and it was lit! The DJ was hitting the throwback hip hop and r and b. He did soca and reggae it was a whole vibe. Customers got up and danced, it was real interactive. We just ordered some appetizer mozzarella sticks were good the marinara was no good. The lemon pepper wings were to salty. The honey hot or something like that was the better flavored wing. I enjoyed my new England clam chowder. I'd come back just for the vibe. There is free parking in the rear of the building super convenient.

    Make your own. So good.
    Tanya R.

Ordered Red Crab Juicy Seafood on a delivery app. I chose the Make Your Own, option. Snow crab cluster with sliced sausage, red potatoes and corn on the cob in garlic butter and Old Bay seasoning. My food arrived on time, smelling fresh and tasting delicious. The potatoes were a bit too firm for my liking but still not a fail. The corn on the cob was sweet and fresh not frozen. I was glad about that. The sauce had a wonderful flavor and they didn't drown the contents of my boil in it. The cost was much less than many of the other seafood restaurants that have been popping up. I hope that Red Crab Juicy lasts through all of the recent Seafood Boil establishment closures. I like it.

    Pasta with Shrimp
    Olaedo E.

My friend ordered the pasta with shrimp for me for takeout. The shrimp was well cleaned and juicy, and the pasta was al dente, but there was way too much oil sitting under the pasta. I had to drain it from the container and could have used it to fry a whole new dish. There was also so much garlic, it reminded me of a shrimp scampi. I added pepper to it, and it tasted so much better to me.

I really enjoyed this spot. But let me be clear even though this is not a club or even a lounge the music and vibe is just that. The music was loud but very good. The dj talked the whole damn time. Just way too much if this isn't suppose to be a club the dj made it so..lolol!!! Also pls note they want you to eat, enjoy, pay your bill and leAve. Again, not a club no matter how hard you are partying. Lolol We had a very large Birthday party about 15ppl and there was plenty of good seating. There were a few large groups dining that night. Since it was a party atmosphere alot of folks was out of there seats mingling. The best part the food and service was good! I was not disappointed all the food was fresh and cooked to perfection. I got the low country boil with the hot juicy sauce and it was delicious! They also do family size trays also if you have a large party. If your in the area check it out.

I honestly haven't been visiting this seafood restaurant at least once a month. Delicious fresh authentic food. Seafood special weekdays can't ever go wrong. I honestly prefer the tray you share with someone. I love the deep fried calamari and sweet chili wings. Definitely my go to for appetizer. Service is always great. The hostess always check on you to make sure your okay and your satisfied with everything. Extremely clean and spacious seating area. Dj be playing the music. Don't forget to always tip your waiters and bartenders.

Came here on a Tuesday night, to our surprise, that's the night to be there, lol. if you enjoy drink specials and a jumping DJ, this is your place to be on a Tuesday. I will say, for me, the music was too loud but that's enjoyable over food for many. It did make it hard for me to hear my waitress and vice versa but all in all, we made it work. The place is absolutely huge so I would think even on a busy night the wait wouldn't be long at all. We had no wait and was immediately seated. We started off with margaritas and rum punch. Both were decent and was able to order another round of. We skipped appetizers and went straight to the main course. I got the Tuesday special which was crab legs, crawfish and shrimp. I was hesitant about the shrimp because typically most seafood places don't clean theirs which is why often times I don't get it but to my surprise, they came clean. I ordered mine mild (I don't care for spice) and which the everything in one sauce and it was perfect! This location isn't too far from my house so whenever I need a seafood pick me up, this is where I'll be going!

Unfortunately, the traffic was terrible going down Woodhaven Blvd to get to Cross Bay Blvd. There's metered parking - not sure if the valet parking was for Lenny's. Anyway, that put a damper on the evening already. We were a party of two so when I called for reservations, they said they don't take for just two people. Luckily we were seated right away when we arrived (around 6 on a Thursday). There were many menu options (Thursdays is Prime Rib night). We decided to start with baked clams and I chose a Captain's platter (broiled fish, scallops and shrimp) with angel hair pasta and marinara. My husband had a seafood fra diablo on linguine. The service was quick with drinks and bruschetta and bread & breadsticks. The clams also came super fast. They tasted good. Then we waited a while for our entrees. My scallops were perfect but the shrimps were overcooked. The fish was ok. The marinara was on the sweet side. Our server was Eugene and he was fine. The place wasn't as nice as I had hoped. Not sure we would go out specifically to eat there again. If I was in the neighborhood, maybe.

It was a…read moreSaturday around 10 p.m., and finding an open place to eat at that hour was not easy, so this felt like a practical option on the way home. I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.
