We stopped at Mixtura because it was relatively close to JFK after a late-night arrival. It was a Saturday around 10 p.m., and finding an open place to eat at that hour was not easy, so this felt like a practical option on the way home. I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Let me begin by saying that I won't be eating from Mistura Peruana again. My family and I have eaten from Mistura serval times and actually enjoyed it. Today we ordered out and requested delivery service. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. It took over 1 hour to actually get to us. I called 3 times asking where the food was, we are only 5 minutes away. The food arrived mediocre in terms of warmth. Everything was super saggy and super oily. Hair was embedded in one of the empanadas and another hair was sitting in the aluminum pan, pretty gross. Our entire meal was pretty bad! We were very disappointed especially when the delivery driver decided that it was ok for him to add an additional $10 to our check. Good thing we noticed and told him to remove it!!! read more

First time visiting and I was not disappointed. We started with the anticucho con Papa a La Huancaina and it was phenomenal. The meat was still sizzling as we got to the table and the potato's were very creamy! I then had sopa de gallina and it sooo delicious and flavorful, definitely recommend during a rainy day. We order the whole chicken combo #3 that came with salad, maduros (yellow plantains), salchipapa, beans and fried rice. The food was amazing. The service was also great, very staff very attentive. The food here is absolutely incredible. Value wise our entire meal which consisted of a whole chicken, rice, beans, salad, salchipapas, and tostones was under $35 Service was amazing and they take good care of you. The waitress is super warm and welcoming and really helps you make good selections. Restaurant is clean and they have a selfie wall which is cute. Bathroom is spotless and they have a decent amount of tables. I will absolutely be back for more. read more

Decor has recently been updated with a cute Selfie wall. Prior to that the restaurant always looked clean and well taken care of and still remains that way. From outside it's hard to guess it looks so nice inside. We've been coming here for a while especially for the lunch specials. Food is consistently good. Tender juicy Peruvian Chicken. Good portion sizes. The fried rice and sweet plantains - so good. My son loves the beans. We've had large orders of food for pickup and never once was an order incorrect. The staff is very friendly and welcoming each time. Like aunties making sure every is satisfactory and water glasses stay filled. Clean bathroom and music is festive. Often we see local Peruvians dining and it's always like a bonding experience, they are so generous with sharing their culture. Warm welcoming feelings all around. You can tell it's a home away from home kind of place. Definitely visit this location. I only recently became aware that it's part of a chain. Never been to any of the other locations. As for this one, the parking is minimal- 2 to 3 spaces if you're lucky. Street parking on side streets not in front since it's a busy blvd. Alternatively the Q41 bus stops right in front and Q7 on the side. Oh and get all the sauces with your food ,they are amazing. read more

First time I've come here since Nazca closed and this Peruvian restaurant reopened as part of the Mistura Peruana chain. Food is still awesome and a great value. We shared the the rotisserie chicken combo, jalea, ceviche, spaghetti with skirt steak, and a half dozen different sides. Everything we had was delicious and I'd recommend everything that we tried. We ordered takeout and the food was ready in about 20 minutes. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere. read more

The food is always fresh and delicious. They have a great customer service. The service from the counter to the waitress is amazing very friendly and professional. The ambiance is good for the are that the restaurant is located I like the decor is very clean and inspired Peruvian culture and cuisine. In my personal opinion is an interesting place and an excellent restaurant to visit the two lady's at front are amazing and can give you a little tours of what is to taste Peruvian cuisine in NYC. I have been eating there few time before I leave a review because I want to be sure of the quality and taste of the food doesn't change but now I can said that after being eaten there for few months with my family and friends this is a place you all can at least can give it a try l personally enjoy all the time. First of all I want to start of by saying the service is impeccable and the waitresses are extremely kind and helpful. Second their food is absolutely delicious I have never been to a place that serves better Peruvian cuisine. Third the place looks pretty skeptical at first but once u enter there is a wall lit up that is super pretty and it gives off that Peruvian vibe.
