Communication was a bit difficult, especially when asking about desserts which weren't on the menu. We had moved a candle from another table because it was so dark, and although she noticed, she didn't offer assistance. After dropping off our food, she didn't check on us at all and remained up front on her phone. She did inform us ahead of time that the credit card machine wasn't working, so payment would need to be cash or Zelle, which was fine. However, when we paid in cash, she didn't return with change, we had to ask for it, and she then disappeared to the back to retrieve it. The whole process was awkward. I understand that even a restaurant with an A can have violations or issues, and a pending grade doesn't automatically tell you what the problem is. But when I'm eating somewhere, I definitely want to know what's going on. Our server was super sweet and reassuring, and the restaurant had plenty of customers dining there.
