Loved our stop here for coffee drinks during Covid-19 times. The pickup window was expertly managed, and while it was a busy morning rush, the kitchen and baristas inside were moving orders quickly. I love fresh roasted coffee in the morning, and my cup was heavenly. My girlfriend loved her bar drink, and this was a great first stop for us on Washington Island. The menu looked interesting, and we'll have to try that as well on our next trip (hopefully during non-Covid times)! read more

And after revisiting said review, I can honestly say it still applies...not much has changed (although, I don't know about the baked goods being prepared on site anymore. That baker is gone now). One of our favorite little spots on the island turned into a disappointment. The coffee, thankfully, was as tasty as always, but the indifference behind the counter was astonishing. To go a step further, the gal vacuuming was flat out rude and this was beyond an hour prior to closing. Too bad, as we always purchase a few items besides the beverages and edibles. Great little shop to stop in for a quick bite or a coffee. This was our first stop after arriving on Washington Island. We both ordered cinnamon rolls and I ordered a frozen lemonade. There was ample seating both inside and out, which was nice, since we came on a sunny day. The service was friendly and our cinnamon rolls were heated up and served quickly. Definitely a great way to start your day! Looking forward to returning and trying some of their other options. read more

It's funny. Many years ago my wife and I decided to venture Washington Island and walk it. We came across this place. We had coffee and af speaking to the owner. The owner actually worked some of the same construction jobs in NE Illinois. He went so far as to offer us his car to drive and to leave it at the ferry dock.Since then we have returned many times. I have had lattes all over the world and some of them have been bad. The Red Cup managed to break my record for the worst latte today. It started with a surly barista. The latte had a milk to coffee mixture that heavily favored the milk. The coffee was a single badly pulled, tasteless shot. The final straw was the scalded milk that was way over temperature. No froth. No micro-foam. read more

An absolute delight! My go to is their cafe au lait and a slice of quiche or a egg, bacon, and cheese on a cheese bagel. Can't be beat!

Yummy cold brew. Nice and strong the way it's meant to be. I went back a second time and tried their Cardamom bomb- it was delicious.

The hippest place in town! I love this coffee shop! They have beautiful art, handmade gifts and really great coffee! The whole vibe is cozy, comfortable and beautiful. My family has been visiting​ the island every since 2003 and Red Cup Coffee is our "Go-To" spot for our morning coffee. Great quality and service. I noticed some comments about poor service. As a Chicagoan and long-time​ customer,​ I have observed the visiting customers as being the initiators of rude behavior. The folks on the island do not have much experience handling needy, high-maintenance urbanite customers who lack the self-awareness that being polite begets ​politeness in return. read more

I've been coming here over the last 2+ years when I'm on-island, and it's my favorite place here (after the second home we bought, of course, so is it my THIRD home-away-from-home? Yes!). The gals here are polite and concerned for each patron, and efficiently spin the perfect latte ("just what the doctor ordered") and/or mouth-watering Green-Eggs-And-Ham sandwich. If you come back a few times, sit a spell and listen in, you'll learn more about the Island than fits on that brochure (which albeitly is chock-full of businesses)! read more

My ladyfriends and I went into this coffee shop upon the recommendation of the woman we rented our cabin from. It didn't really live up to her praise. They had a lot of local, handmade items for sale--expensive! It was understandable, though, since it wasn't tacky souvenirs they were selling. However, the barista's attitude was what determined this 2 star review. She was really rude and dismissive, which resulted in us leaving, and is also why I wouldn't recommend it. read more

We have the pleasure of stopping here several times the weekend of Deaths Door BBQ. The coffee is absolutely perfect in both freshness and flavor. We have had many of there breakfast items and always walk away amazed at the creativity of the offerings, quality of food, and reasonably priced items. Word on the street is that this place has good coffee. I, however, have never been able to test that theory. In the years it's been open (8-10ish?) I have been in once or twice a season while staying on the island. I've been served twice. TWICE. Ever. I'm not alone in my experience. It's a joke among my family to try to get coffee (or lunch or gifts - because they have a pretty selection of gifts and jewelry and soaps and such) here. The baristas either flat out ignore you or are too engaged in conversation to do their job. Of the times I've been served, once was a chai and once was an Italian soda. Neither were thrilling, but they were alright. I'm not sure why I keep going back. Mostly because of the pretty giftshop, I think. That and it's located next to a nice bookstore. Meh. read more

Okay, I had a high expectancy for this place. The place from the outside screamed "KICK ASS" to me as I walked in. The interior was up to task. Comfy, retro without being contrived, and the right amount of schwag on sale in the tourist department. I walk up, ready for some great coffee. I go for a Redeye so I can have the drip as well as their espresso. The barista pours a shot of espresso that had been sitting there from before I walked up into the cup. Now I know my coffee, and I try not to snob about it, but really? For the price I'm paying, for the expectations raised and my anticipation of a great love affair beginning, using cold, stale espresso? Shame. It wasn't busy. The barista wasn't rude. I would hope she was just unaware of the way espresso degrades in taste the longer it sits. I hate to think she just didn't care. The two stars are for everything BUT the coffee. read more

That's a good cop of Joe! And, this from someone who doesn't drink a whole lot of coffee. I have somewhere between 10 and 20 coffee drinks a year, so I'm sort of picky where I'll get my next cup. Red Cup didn't disappoint. My girlfriend and I went during off-peak hours, and got expertly-prepared drinks. The best quiche I have ever eaten. Hot, fresh, fluffy with Gouda cheese and bacon. I usually skip eating the crust but this one was delicious. Good strong coffee. Nice tea collection that they made into an iced tea for me. Super cute place. I definitely recommend going there! read more

I stopped here for coffee on our way to the ferry, leaving the island. I wish I had come a couple of times during my stay! I've lived in Door County for a few years now and finally made it up to the island with my wife for a little anniversary getaway. We visited a number of places on the island during our stay. We stopped at Red Cup to enjoy a coffee and read a book. The coffee was quite good. I asked where they purchase their beans and I was told they get them from Anodyne in Milwaukee. I'm a former barista and I'm a little picky when it comes to coffee, but I would stop here again for a coffee. The atmosphere was nice and I liked the decor. That being said, the service didn't quite fit the Washington Island mold. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it wasn't the same laid back, friendly service we seemed to get at other establishments on the island. read more

We visit Washington Island a few times a year and agree with the other reviews that the "barista" (although I'm pretty sure it's the owner(s) are rude. Go anywhere else on the Island and everyone makes you feel like family, very welcoming and friendly. Here, they always seem pissed by the customers, being busy, kids, tourists, etc. Found another place down the street that earned our business, never going back here. I actually love this place. I'm not a local nor am I a coffee snob (okay, well maybe just a little of a snob) but this place gets 5 stars for everything...taste, decor, ambiance, service...even prices. I will admit that I LOVE espresso and vanilla lattes but only when they are really, really good (I'd rather go without than have mediocre..or worse...coffee). I really wasn't expecting much as there isn't a whole lot on the island really. But when my GPS found a cafe AND it was coffee'othirty according to my internal clock I was thrilled but not expecting much. Boy was I surprised...super nice staff, they had SOY milk (yay!!) and I even purchased some non-coffee items because they were unique and priced less than I would have thought. Great place for a good cup of coffee, was last there in September 2008, the day my wife and I were there, they closed at noon! Didn't mind that we stayed on the porch and had our coffee while talking with another couple. Missed it on this last trip, didn't go to the Island this time. trip was shorter. Great coffee shop! They made me a wonderful cortado which was not on the menu. My cranberry orange scone was delightful. I loved having it served on a real plate and cup not paper. We sat on the front porch and watched nearly every car stop. From locals to visitors, it was the place to be. Fun gifts as well and I picked up the local paper. read more
