    Italian Sub

Can't believe this was my first time at this iconic restaurant . Definitely had a neighborhood vibe. Friendly and efficient service. I had been craving a Reuben and it did not disappoint. Tasty corned beef with generous amount of sauerkraut. Sauce on the side just how I prefer. Only ate half so the photo is of my leftover heated in the air fryer the next day. My dining companion an Italian sub and thought it quite tasty. A sign read" ask about our pies " so I did. The server brought us back a handwritten list of pies which included my favorite- pecan and my dining companion's favorite cherry. Very tempting. I asked if they were house made no but even better - Der Dutchman ! Very very tempting but we passed Next time I will splurge.

We went to the Red Door again on Tuesday, October 1. We were surprised that they were busy this early in the week, but the service was very fast. We seated ourselves, and our server was right there with menus and tool drink orders. I ordered a medium-rare cheeseburger, and my wife asked for Italian beef without peppers. We shared an order of sweet potato fries. Our dinner was out quickly and was exactly like what we ordered. My Burger was substantial and delicious. My wife felt the same way I did. This is a neighborhood place with great food and an extensive menu. They also have a nightly special. A little on the dive bar side pulse, they have an oversized patio on the back.

So, is this a bar? Of course. "Tavern" is right in the name. But it's so much more. First, skip to dessert. This place carries a million types of Amish made pies. Flavors you didn't know existed. And frankly, I'm not sure how the Amish knew they existed. So save room for dessert. You have been warned. The food: this neighborhood classic has been dishing out comfort food since 1964. And they it really well. Burgers, fish, sandwiches, meatloaf...traditional bar fare done right. The bar: a cozy area in the main room with dining room booths and tables. Oh, and a patio out back where some might partake in tobacco, but as I'm not sure what the rules are about that anymore, I'll deny having said that. Bonus: they have TouchTunes but are often playing great songs on a radio. Bonus 2: this place has on street parking AND a parking lot. What the hell? On this street? Yes!!! Well done, 1964 planning. It's on a COTA bus line, too, for those of us who use transit. Bonus 3: Great staff. Sometimes it takes awhile to get your food order. You know why? Because they care and make it properly, so be cool. Pie is coming later. Pie! Stop in. Try it out. And wait for the Goldwater/LBJ election returns to come in. By the end of the night, you won't care, but you'll have made new friends and had a great meal. By the way, you can order pie to go. Because sometimes you need pie on the fly.

A classic dive bar right in the middle of residential Grandview. A dark bar decorated with eclectic things all over the wall. It seems to have many regulars which is always a good sign. Thursdays are trivia so come in and play while you eat. I ordered the blue cheese burger and it was delicious. Husband ordered the spaghetti special and he said it was perfect. Not too difficult to make a good spaghetti but the fact you can come in and get some home cooking without having to do the work was nice!

Red Door Tavern is an institution in Grandview having opened their red door in 1964. The food is made well. On this trip I ordered the Chicken Philly. Large chunks of grilled smoky chicken breast combined with the traditional peppers, onions, mushrooms & cheese served on a pretzel bun and comes with a side of steak fries. My husband ordered the red door tavern cheeseburger which also comes with a side of fries. It's all cooked well in house and good service. On a previous trip we split the reuben egg rolls appetizer, that is a fantastic dish! I really don't think you can go wrong with the food here. The atmosphere is relaxed, the booths are well-worn and it's clean.

Coupon was not rejected FYI. Please dont call your customers cheap. Gentian R: Trashy place with trashy people and trashy owner.

Really bad experience. Food tasted stale and frozen. Ketchup on our table tasted funky; it had expired a year ago. Service was very slow. There were too many flies and the place was really dirty. I started feeling itchy and wanted to leave immediately. Edit: Owner accused me of lying. Less than once star. Waste of money.

French dip tasted like it was made with spoiled. Meat. Sub was to spicy. We ate there before and it was good. Must be under new management.

Waiting staff wasn't very good. It took so long to get refills and by the end of the meal I was ready to leave. I will not return there!
