First time stopping here. The place is pretty cool; it used to be an old auto shop. I got a hotdog with spicy mustard and pickle de gallo. Presentation was fantastic. It was the best looking hotdog I've ever seen. Was pretty oniony though. My girlfriend loved the pepperoni pizza; said the sauce is fantastic. I thought $7 for a suncruiser was a little steep. What I was NOT happy about was the amount of gnats. We spent the entire time swatting away numerous gnats, and that makes me worry about what the kitchen looks like. Overall, probably some better alternatives out there and probably won't return, but it's worth trying once. Would probably enjoy it a lot more if we just came for drinks. read more

Where is your favorite bar in Columbus? Mid City Garage might be mine. In combination with Pie of the Tiger you've got a fantastic spot for "where can we grab a great drink with something to eat without over-thinking it?". Not only does Mid City have a great vibe, picnic tables, and cool decor, like most great bars it has fantastic bar staff and really local clientele from German Village, Merion Village, and surrounding neighborhoods. If you were to visit Columbus and wanted to stop by a place "the locals go to", Mid City Garage HAS to be on your short list. My recommendation: get a Delirium Tremens beer, and grab a pizza from Pie if the Tiger inside, and relax and enjoy the people watching or strike up a conversation, especially if you are from out of town! read more

We stopped to cool down on a hot Columbus Day. It's a corner bar that used to be a gas station once upon a time. Cool place. I had a pineapple cider. My SO had a Jackie O IPA, others had Perry's sour ale and a Rhinegeist Glow. Everybody liked their choices. We didn't eat but the food we saw come out of that kitchen look just awesome! With Pizza & Beer Week in full swing, I finally made plans to stop by Mid City Garage instead of passing them by on my walks -- we ordered our pizza around 7:30p and we were able to pick it up by 7:50ish. We got the Italian and it was gooey and melty and delicious. We also got a side of their dipping sauce: hot garlic oil, which wasn't spicy enough/felt a bit too oily for me. I am still definitely coming back though because I want to check out their cocktails and their outdoor area looks super welcoming/I'm all for al fresco dining! read more

We came for the RW menu on Saturday evening at 4:00. We sat at an outdoor table since it was sunny. They don't take reservations, but we figured that time of day wouldn't be too busy. We were right. I took a peek at the inside - cute interior. Our server was great. The menus are available by scanning the bar codes on the tables. I chose a cocktail to start - the King's Jive made with bourbon, and tasty. I had a glass of wine later. For my 3 courses, I started with the Thai Noodle Salad - yummy. My main was the Salmon Salad, which was a piece of salmon, hummus and salad. I'm glad I chose the Panna Cotta for dessert - so good and a touch better than the other dessert choice that my husband had, which was the Peach Crumble. It seems to be a mostly sandwich and pizza joint, very casual. I'm happy we checked out this new place by the owner of Local Cantina. Another great addition to German Village! read more

Such a fun place and dog friendly too. We've ordered the mushroom pizza and a dill pickle pizza previously and loved them both. Pizzas include 4 generous / thick slices. Filling enough we can share one. During our most recent visit, my guy ordered an Italian sub. He loved it! I wish I remembered to take pictures. Ugh! Expect to wait a while for your food (usually 45+ min). We don't care though because we enjoy ourselves and the bar! Service and staff are great. Highly recommend!!! read more

We came here for the first time on a Friday night. It was busy, but not too busy. We found a great place to sit, the drinks were great, and the pizza was really good. There isn't any table service but that's OK. Just walk up to the bar, order your drinks and carry them back to the table. Never a long wait. We'll be back. read more

I had a picture of the deviled eggs too, but somehow the pic was on motion (why I would want a video of deviled eggs, only my fat fingers would know) and I thought it was too blurry to post. But a small note on the deviled eggs--the eggs are made with "kimchi bacon yolk" and "sriracha". Like a previous reviewer noted, I would have appreciated a stronger announcement from those 2 ingredients. Something that said, "I am a warrior of the Sunheung Clan and I am here to sever your tongue from your body", then the sriracha would set my severed tongue on fire. But I get it. There are delicate sensibilities to consider. Maybe make every 5th egg The Living Hell so that each order only ONE egg is Death By Inferno. Kind of like Korean Roulette. And if there is too much mayonnaise on a deviled egg, that is STILL not enough. The children ordered pizza, well, because they are children. Even if they are in their mid-20s, they still have child-like tastes. Like beer that tastes like an electrified copper cord was dipped into a glass of orange soda. I told THAT child to NEVER offer me a taste of something that made my tear ducts coagulate like that AGAIN. The future Mrs. and I, meanwhile, tucked into something called the Everything Board--which carefully combines the Cheese Board and the Meat Board. I've been eating charcuterie since about 1975. Back then, it was called a package of Oscar Mayer, a package of American cheese wrapped in enough plastic to choke at least 3 turtles, and a box of Saltines. If I was rolling high brow back then, there might be some dill pickles leftover if my Dad didn't take them fishing. And yellow mustard--IN A JAR--that required a knife to get it out and a shower later to get it off. I think that entire feast was about 37 cents. Now? The 4 cheeses and peach chutney ain't cheap. The house preserves and pickled veggies (which if they are made in-house, kudos to them because I know for a fact making preserves and pickling are part of the dark arts) covered the sweet and tart, and the dark chocolate and candied walnuts lent just enough forbidden whimsy to the board to make it ADULT and not just a bag of chips and Snickers bar--like the children would have. There was also toasted focaccia. That is a fancy Italian word for "pizza crust". The same kind I used to make in those Chef Boyardee pizza kits. And that's not a knock--those pizza kits were GOLDEN back in the day. The meats were several gradients above Oscar Mayer's finest. At least I didn't have to peel a ribbon of red plastic from around it. We loved the place. Local people with a garage-turned-bar in the neighborhood with funky, offbeat music (I know I heard DJ Shadow's Endroducing--which was fine and unexpected BUT it was someone else's choice--back in my day, if someone pirated my music like the guy describes in a one star review below, me and my friends would have stomped the guy with our Converse High Top Chuck Taylors). We got on well with the bartender and drank enough to make the Everything Board seem manageable. Plus, we can always outdrink the children. We've had more practice. read more

An awesome vibe, great service, good food and good drinks! What more can you ask for?! Seating is appropriately spaced apart here with plastic dividers between bar spot seats. All associates were wearing masks and everything was appropriately sanitized. I got one of the beers from their brewery, the Throb, which was a delicious IPA! We also tried a couple orders of their stone baked dough... delicious!!! And even better with their dipping sauces. It was so hard to pick one. We had the Brie one, Parmesan black pepper, and the pecorino ranch. I honestly couldn't even tell you which was best because they were all delicious. Finally, what makes a good restaurant great, phenomenal service!! Our server, Ryan, was a total gem. A couple of our guests were running late and he wasn't rude or pushy at all. It was like he was an extra friend at the table hanging out with us. Not to mention, he knew the menu inside and out and had solid drink recommendations. It was very apparent that he knows his stuff when it comes to the food and beverage scene! My friends described the types of beers they liked but left the actual beer choice up to him, and he delivered with a beer they loved every single time! Love the old-space-turned-new Mid City's got going on, refurbishing an old mechanics garage into a small local bar and restaurant in German Village. The bar is on the small side, but they've use the space to its fullest, and it definitely had a quaint and cozy vibe. The front patio is great. It only enhances the space, and just screams welcome to the neighborhood. The picnic tables on the front lawn/patio area are spaced appropriately; it's super nice to sit outside when the sun is shining. Being one of the many restaurants in Columbus partaking in 614 Restaurant Week, I tried MC's house-made Meatball for starters, Burrata Potato Pizza for my main, and their Pana Cotta dessert. The meatball was good, nothing to brag about. The meatball could have been a bit more juicy and tender, imo. I actually really liked the Potato Burrata Pizza. The salty chips with the balsamic drizzle, some of the burrata ball, all together with the chewy, crisped-edge crust, was quite tasty indeed. I brought my dessert back home and ate it the next day. It wasn't bad, I'm not one for alcohol so I'm sure it tasted better a day later, because eating it straight outta the kitchen and it would have been strong I'm guessing. I probably wouldn't give this place a five star review until tonight. Our bartender Whitney waited on 300 people as they came in the door that might be exaggeration, but there were at least 50 that came in the door. She did it all with a smile and with Grace, and one after another, her helper was a little late to work, about a half hour, but she was absolutely perfect tonight. Wow the pizza here is out of this world. My friend and I split a bottle of wine and the stone baked dough. The dough was amazing and we got the Brie dip which I would highly recommend! I got the brisket pizza, which I would 100% recommend. My friend got the carbonara pizza which was definitely good, but if I went back I would try something different. Having lived four blocks away from this location for well over two years, I watched this restaurant's long development and was always curious about what it was going to be. The final pieces seemed to come together right as the pandemic hit, and I have to be honest...it didn't look appealing. The decor is very automotive themed, and it looked like it would be a dive bar or a place to get greasy wings and pizza. In fact, after it opened I still assumed the same thing until some Yelp reviews revealed that -- surprise! -- it was actually a sister restaurant to the upscale South Village Grille down the street. After finally looking at the menu, I saw that there were some great looking pizzas and other sophisticated noshes, and I felt silly for prejudging it. Tonight my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try, and ordered a carbonara pizza and some "stone fired dough" for takeout. I expected the latter to be dough balls, given that it came with a dipping sauce (there were many options, but brie fondue was an excellent choice!), but it wound up just being a pizza without any toppings. Still, the two items together were the perfect size for two people, and we both thought they were tasty enough to warrant a second trip in the near future. I do think they might play a little fast and loose with the coronavirus guidelines, as the patio is often full as we drive by, without a lot of spacing between patrons, but that aside, the food was good, and fairly inexpensive. I was pleasantly surprised when I went here. Small bar and seating area inside, but feels cozy and somewhat like an updated dive bar feel. The outdoor patio looks nice but it was far too cold to sit outside when I went. I had one of the mixed cocktails which was actually good. I then switched over to beer. I can't remember everything on the menu, but my friends and I all got pizzas. They are definitely more of a personal pizza. You could technically split it with someone, but I feel like I would either have to not be that hungry or order something else in addition. I have passed this spot several times while walking around the area I live. My wife and I have talked about wanting to stop here several times. Well, tonight we finally did. We were planning on making dinner at home, but wanted to get some drinks before hand. After all, all the drinks they have posted look delicious. While I can't speak about the food, I can say I will be back to try the food. When we walked in, we were greeted right away and were told to grab a seat where we would like. We ended up sitting by the garage window. It was a beautiful March day in Ohio, but even though the sun was out. It was still 48 degrees and a bit chilly out. Daniel was our server and was awesome. Answered all of our questions and even gave his own thoughts on the drinks. He was helpful, but did warn us he leaned towards the sweeter side for some drinks. Which was really helpful! I ordered the King's Jive and my wife got the Margarita. Both drinks we delicious! they were subtle and not over powering. Not very sweet, but still very smooth and flavorful. My one complaint is that my drink was very small. It was GREAT, but it was literally 4 oz of liquid. I didn't want to give them 4 stars just for that because the environment was great, drinks delicious, and the people that worked there were so polite. Other people working stopped to check on us as well. If you want a cool small bar vibe with a touch of hipster. This is the place for you. COLD heaping mess posing as nachos. We placed an order for both the brisket and pulled pork nachos - meat was cold - mostly fat trimmings, cheese sauce was so cold in our extra side container it wouldn't pour. Chips came out of a store bag of nacho chips - also served cold. When we asked if the nachos could be warmed, we were told the manager would be there soon (not sure how that was going to help). Grumpy bar person promised to bring a wine we ordered and paid for but never showed back up. After a second request, a 2 oz pour was slammed on our table - not the Cabernet we ordered but a rosé. We were treated very rudely. The place is an old timey garage with decent food and drinks.... Yet I spent $24 dollars to play music on the Touch Tunes and lined up a string of songs that totally fit the vibe: classic rock, rockabilly, jazz, etc... but ONE CUSTOMER, apparently a regular, asked for the remote and DELETED all of my songs and started playing whatever he wanted (crappy hipster trash) and I lost all the money I had spent for my music selections. No apology. No explanation. No offer to reimburse the money I had spent. The staff just ignored us. We live in the neighborhood and have been there many times in the past, yet this was shockingly rude and makes me angry. It was our final stop on my birthday and the experience just killed the whole day for me. I feel like I was robbed. Shame on you. read more

A hidden gem! First time at this spot and it was amazing- A group of friends and I swung through on the 4th of July holiday to get a drink and dinner. We sat on the patio and it was a great vibe. Plenty of seating and the perfect place for a date night or a night out. We got a couple seasonal cocktails and split a few items to eat. A favorite was their Portobello Pizza! The crust is wood fired and they give you a choice of dipping sauce to go with it. Prices were very reasonable, with daily specials. Service was quick and friendly. My boyfriend wanted pizza, and this place was close by, so we decided to check them out. You really don't know it will be there because getting to it, you're driving by a whole bunch of homes, and then, there it is. This is a casual joint with surprisingly upscale looking Food. This place was hopping, you can tell it's a favorite local joint. They had a whole bunch of outdoor sitting and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. A big plus for me is they are dog friendly! So many cute dogs were there... but I digress... We started out with their deviled eggs as an appetizer. They were good, but I was hoping to get more of the kimchi flavor in them. If you're not sure you like kimchi, this is a good place to start. We had the Caprese pizza and the Portobello pizza with their Brie fondue sauce for our meal. The Caprese has fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and tomatoes with a balsamic reduction. I will honestly say it was my favorite. The dough is the best part. It was chewy and flavorful and I wish there was more to eat. The Portobello pizza we good as well but not my favorite. You have the flavor of the mushroom with the brininess of the olives, and the sharpness of the goat cheese was blended perfectly. Plus there was pesto on it... and it was good. Also, you can't go wrong if you get an Old Fashion... They do have beer if that's your thing too. :) Also... while you wait for a seat or after eating, they have a cornhole set you can play with. I came here for the first time in August, and I must say that I adore this spot! Super fun/cute interior. They have some very interesting/unique items on their menu, including the grilled cheese with peanut butter and bacon! I tried it, it was pretty tasty. We also got some fun drinks and a beautiful charcuterie board. I will say, we sat outside in the peak heat of summer and it was very hot out there. Once they get some shades for outside on the hot summer days, they will be a 5 star review for sure. read more

Great neighborhood dive. Nothing spectacular but good enough. Pizza is ok, but drinks are measured and watered down.

Their pizza has gone downhill. The "Detroit style" is soggy and the dough is raw, like a cafeteria frozen pizza that has only really been cooked on the top. It has none of the black crispness of the cheese that you are supposed to get on the sides and corners. I would suggest that whoever is making pizza order Jet's, just to see how far they actually are from recreating the style. The "New York" style pizza is far too thick, again raw in the middle, and again drowned with red sauce. It has none of the black crispness of the cheese that you are supposed to get on the sides and corners. On the plus side, it's a really nice place to sit and have a drink on a warm day with a great patio and there's nothing wrong with their wine or beer list. My partner and I live in Merion Village and appreciate that we can actually walk to some great neighborhood restaurants. No parking hassle and no discourteous scooters, bicyclists, skateboards (as in the Short North). Mid City Garage is owned by the same folks who run South Village Grill, a marvelous restaurant two blocks to the north. The atmosphere is much more casual, though, and you feel as if you're entering a renovated gas station from the 1950s, which gives the place a great deal of charm. Someone greets you immediately, and every time we return, we are welcomed back, just as a neighborhood place should do. The U-shaped bar makes it easy to converse with people, another plus. The menu consists of homemade pizza, sandwiches, and salads, and everything is freshly prepared, with unique ingredients,and a gourmet feel to it. The brisket pizza is to die for, as is the charcuterie plate, presented with panache. The craft beer offerings are huge; house wines are better than most places, and they seem to have all the top shelf spirits for those interested. Happy hour prices are incredible, and even include weekends We enjoy this place a great deal. They have the right attitude and commitment to serve. Two thumbs up. read more

There weren't any food items that we ordered this time that would keep us coming back, but there are so many things that look exciting on the menu that we will definitely come back! My friend and I stopped in last night, we ordered 2 brisket sandwiches ($12.00/each) that came with chips (Conn's chips). If you wanted a salad instead of chips it was an upcharge of $2.50. The size of the sandwich was what you see in the other review, about half the size of a sub. That in itself wasn't so bad, but there was very little brisket on the sandwich, 75% bread. Flavor was good, brisket was tougher. The manager stopped by and asked how the meal was, I said there was no value for the money and my friend told him the brisket was tough. Went here yesterday with some friends, food was pretty good got an Italian Sami with bbq chips and it was good. Drinks are averaging priced for Columbus. This place is a GEM! The food is incredible. I've loved everything I have ordered here, but the pizzas are my favorite by far. I'll never visit and not eat pizza. Drinks are incredible too--the bartenders will even make you custom drinks based on what you like. That's what they did for my parents who stopped in for a date night a few weeks ago. This review is not indicative of the food, purely the experience. The servers here are in some severe need of customer service training. We had a larger party and were told it would be about a 15 minute wait. After 30 minutes, the hostess never came back to check on us or update us with a wait time, so, we went in to ask for an update. Her solution was for us to "order takeout and go sit in the park". Honestly, I found this a bit of an inappropriate response, but nothing compared to what we experienced later.... The entirety of our "wait time" the hostess (or manager - unclear as to what she was) allowed the largest table on the patio to be occupied by a party of 2 that had paid their check and had only been drinking water since our arrival. I.e. they had been sitting there, paid, for over half an hour. After 50 minutes, we went in again to ask if there was the potential to have the smaller party switch tables so we would as least be allowed to order before close. The hostess proceeded to come out and scream at our entire party in front of the rest of the restaurant about daring to ask such a thing and "disrupting her customers experience". I could not believe the way she handled the situation. For someone so concerned about the "customer experience", she certainly didn't care about ours. Needless to say, we ended up leaving. And hey, let's call a spade a spade. These customers were drinking water on a patio. I experience that daily at my own home. read more
