Had a weeknight dinner with some new friends. The place was busy both in the dining room and at the bar. Pleasant, lively but a little noisy, though not enough to disturb conversation. Menu is a slightly elevated bar food selection coupled with a nice selection of beers and cocktails. Prices seemed to be competitive with other similar venues. We all passed on apps and went straight to the mains. Most ordered a sandwich or burger while I ordered the lobster Mac & cheese. My dinner was delicious. A rich and cheesy baked concoction with a few lumps of lobster meat mixed in and flavoring the entire dish. All the guests cleaned their plates with relish. Simple platings with no special attention given to plate presentation. The dinners came out staggered rather than all at once. We weren't rushed but were attentively served. They accommodated us with 5 separate checks. All in all, I'd gladly return to enjoy another dinner. read more

We ate post graduation meal at the Waleus tonight we had a reservation for 12 and 11 of us showed up on this cool rainy night. We we famished since it was 8:30 p.m. The did accommodation us with a lower table since on member of the party was elderly and in a wheelchair, with the statement that "this is a bar more than a restaurant". I would thereby say they are not truly ADA accessible oe friendly as one would hope. But as I said we had made the reservation and figured we'd make the best of it. Some of our appetizers got lost and were so late they took them off the bill. Some of our appetizers arrived cool or cold upon arrival, but we were so hungry we ate them. Plus it wasn't like anyone came back to check on us, or ask how was everything or refills. It wasn't until I went back to the bar and asked for refills that we were even visited again. I know our server was also seeming to be the bartender too. I don't think we'll be back and never with any handicapped friends who can't sit at a high top table. I would say the hopes were high but the experience was almost a total dud. Those who got the chicken Alfredo liked it and it was hot. Despite having a mishap on our food order, the day was saved by the excellent customer service provided by our server, Monty. My wife had ordered a Lobster Roll and what arrived was not what we were used to in California/Maine/Massachusetts. It had pieces of lobster mixed in with a tuna fish salad which is very different from the lobster-only with butter on a toasted bun we are used to. Monty made everything right when this was brought to his attention, he had it taken off our bill and was very apologetic. He then took a replacement order on another menu item to fix things. Nice looking bar and restaurant. They converted old wooden doors into tables which adds to the aesthetic. Lots of seating and TVs everywhere but all playing the same content. My waitress Brei was super friendly and had a bright smile. She helped recommend the Shrimp Po Boy and it was such a good choice. I got the sweet potato fries as my side. I'm not exaggerating when I say the food came out lightning fast, literally within 4 mins. But it tasted so fresh. I really couldn't believe it. Great visit and Joey is an awesome server! He is our absolute favorite as the service is always excellent with him. For dinner, we had the soft pretzels for an appetizer, and I had the Cheese burger and Chris had the Maple Burger + Sauteed Onions. Cool atmosphere and vibe but I always recommend dining in the front as the back can get really loud. We have been to The Walrus twice, and both times we had wonderful meals! The second time was a little less crowded but football was on and everyone was in a great mood. I've been here many many times over the years, always the same good feeling! My service was excellent! The lady behind the bar took great care of me, making sure I was happy with my food and that I needed anything else! I was t too hunger so I went for my Go-to, a nice crunchy salad with house made Croutons (yummmy!) and their SUPER yummy fires! (Their fries are SO good especially dipped in their house made ranch!!!) I kept hearing about this place, and hearing how good it was, but it didn't quite seem like my kind of place, and it wasn't quite in the neighborhoods frequent. Today, I figured what the heck, and stopped in when I was passing nearby. It's joined to a bar, and the inside has a very old-school bar feeling with brick walls, etc. I happened in on a Monday, which is burger day, and they talked me into trying one. And it was excellent. $5 burgers, all toppings a small extra charge. I ended up spending $7.50 for one with lettuce, tomato, sautéed onions, chipotle mayo, and queso fresco. It came out and looked pretty small, but also pretty tall, and paired with a side it was plenty for lunch. Nice meaty burger, excellent bun, perfect toppings. Just a really good burger all around. At a really good price. Get two if you're super hungry, although by the time I ate it and my side of excellent Brussels sprouts topped with a ton of bacon, I was full. Service was excellent. Prices were good, but of course it was a super deal so I'm not sure about the rest of the menu. And the rest of the menu is very interesting, with essentially upscale bar food. The beer and cocktail menus also look interesting. The place is cozy and comfortable; the restaurant area in the front doesn't seem that big, but in the back it is bigger, and there's a bar, and there's a whole 'nother side of the building. There's a pool table, a stage, an interesting booth/dining nook, and more. Excellent fast friendly service all around. For a late Brunch on a weekend, the place was very noisey, due mostly to one large table of people who apparently had starting drinking heavily. A day later I started having pain and went to the ER, I don't live locally so I had to call/email and they refused provide any insurance information, copy of incident report, or company information. Every phone regarding issue there were continuous promises of call backs, rude staff, no policy or knowledge what to do in these situations. Their (supposed) attorney called me and asked for copies of the bills once sent he then advised they don't want insurance involved nor do they want to rectify so file lawsuit. Multiple people told me this was a must try place, so I was super excited to go for restaurant week. I tried their $30 deal and ordered the Tavern pretzels, short rib dinner and chocolate cake. My hubby got the maple burger and I got the candied bacon grilled cheese. The fries are battered, so I don't think they were fresh cut, but they were still good. I wanted something light, and the grilled cheese definitely fit the bill. The candied bacon was delicious. We got the dip trio (queso, guac, pico de gallo) for an app. The queso was awesome and tasted like it was made with real cheddar cheese. A nice place to visit before a show at the Ohio Theatre. It was an easy walk from the garage and to the theater from the restaurant. On this visit we had a group of 8 which we were easily able to make a reservation for online. They have a nice cocktail menu and beer list. We did have some cocktails that were ordered off the menu and they arrived in short and tall glasses so make sure you specify when ordering. Best buffalo chicken sliders- ever! Came in early on a Wednesday evening. Had reservations on Open Table, didn't need them. Half price beers until 7pm, and they had a very nice selection of drafts. Had the Jackie O's IPA followed by the sliders and Walrus fries. The fries were different, almost like steak fries sliced thin. Think about 1" slabs to potato about 1/4" thick, then tossed in some kind of seasoning (may have just been salt). They were well done, but I'm not a steak fry guy and prefer thin cut all the way. Daughter got sweet potato fries, which she really liked. Now, on to the sliders. Not at all what I expected. These were pulled chicken tossed in a buffalo sauce with sautéed onions. At first I thought they were a bit skimpy on the meat, but the other sliders had a bit more. The TASTE was OUTSTANDING! The onions really paired nicely with the sauce and chicken for a taste I've never been served before. Served with a side of ranch that complemented them nicely. Service was fast and friendly.
