It's just ok. Nothing to write home about. The sangria wasn't as sweet & fruity as I prefer. The bacon wrapped scallops had sriracha, I wasn't prepared. The Caesar salad... the lettuce they used was not romaine or maybe it was, it was just the wrong part. And I'm not sure who the seafood supplier is for this area or if there was an oil spill, but the seafood has a weird metallic taste. I'm from Baltimore so I'm not used to this aftertaste and moving forward, no seafood from the states. But the shrimp is truly starting to taste like I'm inoculating myself with cancer. Something just ain't right. The dessert options made me map the nearest ice cream parlor. Although edible, not impressed. Won't be here again. read more

Redfish doesn't mean it's Cajun... However, I did get a case of the "red ass" as they say in Louisiana. I really wish I could give them a 3.5, but the experience was not good enough to get a 4. I'm not usually not too hard on service, because I know working in the food history is really tough. Also, I do recommend eating at RedFish as it is one of the better places to eat in Morehead City. I've eaten there several times and always actually like the food it's quite good. However I did feel compelled to give a low rating this time as we had to wait a long time between ordering or drinks and receiving them. We also waited a long time after getting our drinks until we actually ordered our meal. We then had the same issue to get our check after we were done eating our dessert. Typically I would use these long wait times to get another drink. :-) However we had the exact same experience last year we ate at this restaurant. read more

So far...of everywhere we have been to eat in this area...Red Fish Grill has yet to disappoint. The staff is friendly and offer great service, plus the food is delicious each time. We had a minor hiccup today for dinner, but before you overreact... let me explain: I had ordered the ribeye steak with a side dinner salad. The salad was delicious! I know some of you may not get as excited about salad as I do, but keep in mind that everywhere we have been (with the exception of Red Fish Grill)- the salads we've ordered have been gross. Either the lettuce is wilted or dirty- so basically, inedible. NOT with Red Fish Grill tho! The salads here give me life! As for the steak- now bear with me... My steak was very good. It was extremely flavorful. (Now here is the part where most of you may gasp- but hear me out.) It just wasn't cooked to my desired preference. Does that mean it was terrible?? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I completely understand that no one is perfect- and as you know- that saying applies to restaurants as well. How I judge an establishment (besides their food) is by HOW they handle situations and customers. With that being said... our server, unfortunately I did not catch her name, handled everything like a CHAMP. She rushed to put in another steak for me and made sure it came out perfect. And it was! Now did this minor hiccup ruin my experience, my meal, or my day?? NEGATIVE. As I said before- I judge an establishment by HOW they handle situations and treat their customers. Our server remedied the entire situation like an MVP! So much so- that I look forward to coming back again. Bottom line: Mishaps happen. It's inevitable. And when they do happen- what matters most is their recovery. It would be different if they had bad food, or bad service- or worse...both. But that hasn't been the case here at all. We were seated immediately at a table by the bar within minutes and had fast and friendly service for the entire dinner. I've eaten here several times and every time this restaurant is consistently good. My favorite is the stuffed flounder. Service is always friendly. Food is always cooked perfectly. They is no overdone fish at this place! I also enjoy the fact that there are typically one or more vegetable side dishes to chose from in case you don't want to eat rice or potatoes. Ended up here because the place across the parking lot from them lied to us about seating...I wasn't too enthusiastic about the choice. I was wanting to stuff myself with as much fried seafood as I could that weekend and this places menu looked too upscale! I huffed and puffed and we finally ordered some spicy fried oysters which turned out to be the best I had out of all the fried oysters I scarfed down during my 3 day visit. The crab dip was delicious and the seared tuna sashimi was so good we ordered another for dessert. The only complaint I had was that our server, a pleasant young man who was great...no complaints with him, except that he brought us out the tiniest little margarita in the tiniest plastic cup, which was the hugest tragedy I could think of when I was at the end of my vacation and that was probably my last drink. We showed up at 10 on a Saturday night. A pair was leaving the bar so we snagged their seats and were told the kitchen was closed but the bar was staying open. The owner actually overheard, asked what we wanted and within not even 10 minutes, our entire order was in front of us. Hot and fresh. We got the calamari which was served with a warm tomato sauce on the side. This was probably some of the best calamari I have ever had. We ordered two tuna burgers. The tuna cut was at least 5 oz on a potato type bun and some kind of aoli sauce. Side was a mix of grains that didn't have a ton of seasoning or flavor but the presentation was nice. We ate, packed up one tuna burger to go(I ate the leftovers of calamari, rice and tuna at the beach the next day which was perfect). We appreciate the owner keeping the kitchen open and allowing us to stay to eat. Great atmosphere the night we went. Live music, good crowd. read more

Decided to take my girlfriend here this past Saturday while visiting Morehead City for a fishing tournament. We sat in the bar area at a booth and had excellent service from one of the staff there. We ordered drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert. I had some sort of old fashion (?) that was a bit too smoky for my liking. She had a spicy margarita that definitely had some kick with the jalapeño syrup. For our appetizer, we had the crab dip, which was very good, but I would have preferred crostini instead of pita points to dip, as the pitas were too soft dip on their own. For dinner, I ordered the the Islander and my girlfriend ordered the seared yellowfin tuna steak with grilled zucchini and mashed potatoes. She loved her entree, but I was disappointed with mine. The Islander is supposed to have seared scallops and shrimp, but mine were not (no sear marks). The shrimp were jumbo, but the scallops were itty bitty, the size of my pinky tip. I was really disappointed about that, as I love seared scallops. The feta and spinach sauce was ho-hum, and for a $32 pasta dish, I expected it to be a lot better than it was. I was already committed to spending a lot on the meal at this point and was hoping that dessert might save the evening. We ordered a slice of a crème brûlée style cake, and while it tasted pretty good, it had a burnt sugar crunch layer towards the bottom, which kept making my teeth stick together (yes, I know creme brûlée is supposed to have burnt sugar, but I just found this extra irritating for some reason). I paid about $140 for the meal, including tip, and was disappointed that it didn't wow me more. For that kind of price, I expect both the service and the food to be excellent, but that was not that case. read more

Red Fish is hands down one of the better restaurants in Morehead City. Located right near the water close to the Big Rock Tournament entrance. My husband and I have been here twice, the most recent time being the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. We arrived with a fairly large party and there was a good wait. However, they let us grab two tables outside that happened to be open and push them together. Red Fish has a great drink menu with lots of mixed drinks to choose from. The Mules are really good! For food, I have tried a handful of items and my favorite is the Ahi Tuna (appetizer or meal). The tuna is cooked perfectly (ie. seared only) and melts apart in your mouth. Delish! I also love the baked oysters in shell and the tuna tacos. Bonus, they bring out warm bread with olive oil and balsamic to start! My husband and I ate here tonight. I ordered Mahi which was good, unfortunately my husband never got his meal. The food runner said it would be right out. I was half way done with my meal before the waitress checked on us, at that point we told her to cancel his order. Pretty frustrating. She never sent a manager over or offered a discount. Then she brought the check and it was someone else's credit card bill. At this point my husband asked to speak with a manager. So tonight we decided to try the bar deck for some drinks and small bites. So we grabbed a table and waited for a waitress. It wasn't too long before we got menus and placed our orders. All good right? Well it would have been but we waited and waited and waited on our drinks. Finally they came via waitress and not 2 seconds later our food via server. We order the Calamari and the Seared Tuna Sashimi. Both were good and if I had any complaint it would be I could have used more pickled ginger for the tuna and more marinara for the calamari. Pet peeve -- In this day and age, why is smoking even considered acceptable in any restaurant setting. One of the other patrons decided to light up on the deck after dinner. Luckily the wind was blowing away from us. Come on Red Fish -- smoke free is the way to go. We will be back but I'm not sure the bar deck is the place to eat. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. My husband said the bacon wrapped scallops were delicious. The salad was fresh and delicious as well. My favorite entree is the flounder stuffed with shrimp and spinach with a light cream sauce. The zucchini were grilled perfectly. I also like the fried shrimp, so it's a hard choice sometimes. It was the perfect place for a meat eater who hates seafood and a pescetarian to go to while at the coast! Nice laid back atmosphere with a good outside seating area, but go early if you want to sit there! It opens a little earlier than other places in the area for dinner so if you keep missing lunch at places like we did you can head there at 4:30:) and beat the dinner crowd. My wife and I went here looking for some Greek food as the title suggested. As mentioned, it's not really a Greek restaurant; it's more of an Italian and American seafood restaurant that serves a couple of Greek dishes. I got the Mahi Mahi shown in the pictures and it was excellent. The lobster linguini was also great and was slightly spicy with mixed peppers. My wife had the lamb gyro and we were not at all impressed with the flavor of the lamb. Definitely a no go with the lamb. The service was so so. Even though we were seated immediately on a Saturday night, July 4th weekend, our waitress was not very good and plates remained on the table up to 10 minutes after emptied. Also, my water cup was empty most of the stay. Overall I would say this place was great. The seafood I had was excellent, but the lamb and service was subpar.
